and china doesn't need a recruitment program dude, military service is mandatory.
Then why the hell did they release this game? Or at least, why did they fund it?

Why did the government fund America's Army? Same reason: to glorify war.

because they want to appear all high-tech and fancy and modern because china has a very strong military culture.
the very last thing it is is some kind of american killing trainer. china has no plans to attack the US, china's economy could not survive such a thing and especially the current leaders are quite in cahoots with US leaders.

basically yeah but for china it's kind of redundant seeing as the US is the one that needs to actively promote the military services
[editline]17th May 2011[/editline]
plus China's becoming more and more capitalist friendly and they are gonna suck dick to get those contracts through
Fine, you've all made your point. They could have just called the enemies "Westerners" or something generic like that, but again, point taken.

Just don't turn this thread into that kind of argument, please. This is about what we think one country thinks about another, not about whether war is wrong or right.

You're right. Sorry for answering your question.
I'm American and I really don't care if we are the bad guys in some video games.
We do it to Russia and China all the time.

yeah i don't know if you've noticed or not but china's main strength isn't subtlety
for control's sake they have to make sure people think the world still works in a CAPITALIST VS COMMUNIST way
You're right. Sorry for answering your question.
everyone always gives you such a hard time
I have a message for China...Come at me bro. As far as I'm concerned, the most damage China could do longterm is nukes. Even if they completely cut off trade we'd eventually rebuild. Oh and the reason this is a big deal, is because it's a gov funded game to kill Americans for the umpteenth time.

The most damage they can do is... destroying an entire nation with nukes?
So...
It's pretty disrespectful for a government funded game.
is because it's a gov funded game to kill Americans for the umpteenth time.
Umpteenth time? I don't know about you, but I don't see games with Americans as the enemy too often.
Umpteenth time? I don't know about you, but I don't see games with Americans as the enemy too often.
Meant it the upteemth time its been mentioned that it's gov funded.
I'm definitely going to at least check it out, if there's an English-language release.
1) While I've memorized all the cool special-forces guns the US has ever had, and several they haven't, I can't name a single Chinese-made gun. And that's a shame, since they seem to have some cool-ish gear.
2) It's always interesting to see things from a new perspective, even if you don't actually agree with them. Like how I occasionally read foreign news articles on major things, to see how they view it.
3) It'll earn me some brownie points, should China become the next superpower. Wo yi huanying de omen xin de zhongguo bazhu.
Something is a little wrong with your chinese sentence: Wo yi huanying omen de xin zhongguo bazhu.
Its either that or I am very wrong and the taiwanese chinese is different.

The Republic of China has conscription, but not the People's Republic of China. What they have is similar to the US Selective Service system, and a draft has never been enforced since 1949.
Operation Flashpoint wasn't Gummn't Funded. It was the game dev's choice to place Russians as the enemy (and even then it was a splinter-group that broke off from the main Soviets because they felt the USSR wasn't being forceful enough. And this is me talking about the very first game, by the way.). It's a bit different with a game that's basically a recruitment program.
Guba just really didn't like Gorbachev's political reforms. He's basically part of the "old guard" that started the failed August Coup.

yeah but come on, that's only because the military culture is so strong
in either case the point stands, china doesn't really need to recruit anyone

Better to keep the manpower fluid than to let it become rigid
Better to keep the manpower fluid than to let to become rigid
that's what she said :smug:
Better to keep the manpower fluid than to let it become rigid
i don't know what that means but okay whatever
i don't know what that means but okay whatever
Better to keep recruiting new people and letting go of the guys who are finished with their contract/or whatever similar term the PLA uses. Otherwise manpower will suffer atrophy.
Any word on the release date?
I'll buy ten
bout time
hypocritical double standart america shows its fuckface once again in this thread.
Send me a copy China.
The footage looks pretty good, although its practical use as a military training tool look about as useful as making troops watch Rambo part III. Also I can't help but laugh at the double standards some people have, get over yourselves.
I'm not agreeing with this man, but AA's enemies aren't even Middle Eastern. I think they may be from the Balkans.
And who exactly is complaining about this game? Did I miss something in the article?
Yeah, no one cares about the Balkans and north of Afghanistan. ArmA for example.
Looks like a game I'd play

I don't see the difference between shooting American soldiers or shooting Russian/Arabic/Chinese/whatever ones.
[editline]18th May 2011[/editline]
Also anyone finding it okay to shoot every other nationality in pretty much ever other shooter ever but finds it wrong to shoots Americans is a retard.
