Just a really, really high level inflation compared to other current industrialized and developing nations and a reverse in capital flows which has, at least for a while, obliterated all hopes of any major economic growth, that's subsequently caused a bunch of investors to pull out of the country since their 2008 financial crisis (which is still not over and stemmed from our 2007 woes). Not only has their economy [i]not[/i] been improving, it's been declining worse than ours has. And we've finally gotten to the point where we're stagnant, neither growing nor declining. Which, compared to where we were, is a good thing. Now begins the recovery process for us.

Communism is a buzzword in the political front and has often been used to directly oppose multiple bills that lean even a little bit towards socialism or something similar. (At least thats what I see, may be wrong, sue me.)
Now imagine attempting to get these same people to sign a contract with the people who coined the term in the first place.
Russia does not want this missile shield because it gets rid of deterrence and MAD.
I think it's funny that some people still think Russia is the big evil in this case while the US changed the plans after they discussed them and Russia said they would allow them to take place.
