So what is it exactly that they ran out of?
"You require more minerals".
they require more vespene gas
Brass trim, cherry wood front face, ebony inlay for the logo, I'd fucking buy it
Don't talk about cool things I can never possibly have.
This means they'll whip up a improved revision, and since many of the big tech giants making smartphone displays suddenly now shows interest in the Oculus Rift, then they probably won't have big problem with establishing a long-term supply of displays better suited for their application.
Though all that takes time to set in order though, so hold on to your asses.
I wish I had gotten one. These will probably be worth quite a bit to collectors, ten or twenty years down the line. The first prototypes of modern VR technology? Ye, boyaa.

Even if they totally flop, they'd be worth a lot simply for the massive hype they received. It's a lil' piece of history.

just buy one used
I wanted to dev for the rift but turns out it might actually be better to wait for consumer edition based on how many people are buying the dev kit
And consumer versions having proper 6DOF.
