Anyone who was requesting their files had visited WikiLeaks and read some of the leaked cables? I'm guessing that'd get you on the NSA Surveillance short-list.
Visiting a website won't put you on a watch list.
i said i was going to kill fred phelps and his wife and the rest of westboro baptist church by blowing up their compound with a truck bomb and shooting the survivors
Did the Feds turn up to Toxx clause you?
You sounds like a violent nut and if you were joking you should have known the consequences of a threat like that.
God forbids someone even jokes about murder. If the FBI is going to start going after everyone who makes a threat on the internet, they'd better come at me fast as i possess a loaded assault rifle which i will use to shoot former president Nicolas Sarkozy in the head. No, but really, what right do they even have to collect my personnal info and porn for further use without my government's consent?
Visiting a website won't put you on a watch list.
Well, but if you put the two together, and saying NSA stands for National Security Agency
Over 130,000 of the cables are unclassified, some 100,000 are labeled "confidential", around 15,000 have the higher classification "secret", and none are classified as "top secret" on the classification scale.[4]
Short classification scale:
Secret This is the second-highest classification. Information is classified Secret when its unauthorized disclosure would cause "serious damage" to national security.[14] Most information that is classified is held at the secret sensitivity. Confidential This is the lowest classification level of information obtained by the government. It is defined as information that would "damage" national security if publicly disclosed, again, without the proper authorization.[14]

Well, but if you put the two together, and saying NSA stands for National Security Agency Short classification scale:
I am quite familiar with the classification scale, thanks. You left out the access controls (most of those cables are carrying NOFORN or RELTO/FVEY) and unclassified sensitivity controls (primarily FOUO and SSI). But what's your point? What does any of this have to do with whether or not you'll be on a watch list for visiting websites? There are so many people accessing sites like Wikileaks that it is beyond impractical to maintain lists of them all. I get the feeling most people don't even know what a 'watch list' really is.
Did the Feds turn up to Toxx clause you?
no they turned up to scare the fuck out of me and it worked like scaring me to the point of leaving the country
I got mine. They didn't have anything on me.
Sent a request on June 29th Requested clarification/status update on 11th of August Requested clarification/status update on 4th of October. Requested clarification/status update on 10th of October. Requested clarification/status update on 15th of October Requested clarification/status update on 16th of October Finally received an email reply on the 19th of October saying my request has been processed again. Received a letter in the mail a few weeks later saying they had no file on me.
all that for nothing hahahaha
I also had no file, which I find odd considering I have a security clearance.

I got a reply which I took to mean I had no file but it was ambiguous and sounded more like a "fuck you kid you ain't getting shit muh national securities"
Sent a request and within 2-3 weeks I received a letter saying nothing was found.

If they cannot show you the file because it is being used in a current on going investigation, then they will tell you this. They won't say "Yeah, we uh, 'don't' have a file on you ;)".

I'm not American so I obviously can't get mine but I swear that I have a file because of an brutal and specific online threat I made 3 years ago.
I'm not American so I obviously can't get mine but I swear that I have a file because of an brutal and specific online threat I made 3 years ago.
explain
kinda tempting to write something about killing obama and check my file later, but I'm not from the US so I can't access the file. sob
explain
I got angry because I got banned from the black mesa forums so I made a steam group about killing and torturing the developers in insane description but I forgot it, all I can say is that it was terrible. I got banned from the steam community for a year and I'm sure that either the NSA and/or the CSIS would also know.
Got a letter in the mail saying that they have nothing on me. Calling bullshit since I've been to China.
Got a letter in the mail saying that they have nothing on me. Calling bullshit since I've been to China.
So have millions of other Americans? There's nothing interesting in going to China really.
I could just imagine mine. "He's on the computer" "...He's still on the computer" "He got up, ate some pizza rolls and... is now on the computer" "He's asleep. Maybe he took it easy because he has plans tomorrow." "... He's still on the computer"
Got a letter in the mail saying that they have nothing on me. Calling bullshit since I've been to China.
Eh, no. That's not how it works. Going to a foreign country alone doesn't fall under the purview of any intelligence agency. The CIA doesn't care what Americans are doing outside the country as long as there's no obvious counterintelligence or terrorist threat, and they don't have the resources to be tracking every single American who goes overseas. The NSA doesn't care about anything that doesn't involve computers or telecom systems. The FBI only cares about what happens in-country, and again can't be monitoring every American who comes back to the States. Have a look at this article. An American student took frequent trips to China, was recruited by Chinese intelligence, and passed preliminary background checks when he applied for the CIA before he was eventually caught. If you're an ordinary person it's virtually guaranteed that you won't have a file.
That guy who made a threat about Obama that got them calling garry, should request a file.
Got a letter in the mail saying that they have nothing on me. Calling bullshit since I've been to China.
I don't see why they would have a file on you if you've gone to China. If you've gone to Chechnya, they likely would.
I have a hobby of studying cryptography and cryptovirology even though I understand almost none of it. I just find it really interesting and I spend a couple hours a week reading on wikipedia and other sources about those subjects and the field of subjects surrounding them. I wonder if curiosity is enough to trigger a flag, because if so that's kind of crazy. The government being suspicious because one of it's citizens want's to learn on their own.

Just got a letter from them today saying they had nothing on me "officially" but could easily have a list that they aren't legally required to share with me. Why it took them so long to send this in comparison to others that got their response months ago is beyond me.
why would they have anything on anyone here?
