Again, its slow because that's how Android is. Java apps run in the JVM and its basically one giant app, and can't really get to the performance of a full blown OS with their dedicated software layers.
Regardless, if Windows Phone had the app support, I'd jump to it from Android no matter what.
Never iOS though.
Yeah, angry birds is three bucks on Windows Phone and its also one of like 7 good games total. I bought my WP because it emphasizes easy communication, the internet capability is just a bonus.
You can tell faze has some bias just looking at his avvy. And I've played around in a galaxy S2 before, While very nice, It wasn't as smooth as even my old iphone.
Nah, ICS on a Galaxy Nexus, while smooth, compared to WP7 or iOS (on iPhone 4 or above) is not smooth
Android wins for customization and "serious" apps (Google Chrome, most Google apps) but iOS wins for fun apps like fatbooth, all those games, gimmicky stuff.
A very slight lag I'll take over a totally locked down OS.
What I had on my Droid Incredible was not "a slight lag".
Endless iterations of ROMs and kernels and overclocking did not at all help.
"And yes, It does actually PRINT MONEY!"
Although to be fair that does look pretty damn cool, Good job apple, Good job.
Also, The Onion posted this very relevant article, it made laugh allot:
"This Article Generating Thousands Of Dollars In Ad Revenue Simply By Mentioning New iPad"

But its okay! You had the option to flash ROMs and kernels and over clock in place of reliability and better optimization.

Yeah WP7 doesn't need customized OS's, it's fine as is.
It does need some more good apps.
But WP7 isn't as locked down as apple right? Does it requires some sort of software to copy files to it? The need for iTunes to copy files is insane in my opinion, Apple only does it to encourage the use of iTunes and since iTunes on Windows sucks, to advertise Macs.
iTunes on Windows is fine?
It uses zune to sync WP7 which IMO is worse than iTunes. They tried to hard to make the UI all cool and artistic, but its slow as shit on an i5 2500k and syncing is a little worse than iTunes.
A very slight lag I'll take over a totally locked down OS.
There's no point in trying to downplay the Android lag, here's what Engadget had to say about the Transformer Prime with 4 1.3GHz Cortex-A9 cores and 1GB of ram.
we were sorry to still see some occasional stutters and hiccups from time to time, instances where the device would hesitate for just a half-second or so before responding. There are three performance modes that are easily selected between in the pop-up settings menu, but even on its highest we couldn't get it to be a consistently smooth operator. They're the kind of stops and starts we've seen on just about every Android device to date and it's a bit of a shame that even four whopping cores running at 1.3GHz can't do away with them.
Meanwhile Apple had it essentially perfect with a 1GHz Cortex-A8 single core and 256MB of RAM on the original iPad. The only issue I see on iOS devices with performance is swiping to spotlight search at times.

Wow that sucks. Is there a hack to get mass storage? What other flaws does it have? How come your useragent is android :v:?
iTunes on Windows is fine?
iTunes is just unnecessary and overdone to begin with. Clementine is far superior however.
Probably, but there is no drive to hack my phone (HTC trophy). The biggest flaw with WP is that the customization is a lock wallpaper, accent color and white or black background. And my useragent is android because I'm on my tablet :v:

TBH I don't really care about customization of OS's that much anymore. In the past when Windows' UI was atrocious I'd use Rocketdock or Objectdock, maybe skin Windows, or whatnot.
But as of Windows 7, the GUI is good (some areas lacking though). WP7 uses Metro which is beautiful so it's all good.
Things like being forced to use Zune or iTunes, and obscure proprietary formats or whatever will get me mad.
Same reason why I don't care for Linux, I'd never bother skinning or customizing it, I'd just run my apps, and since allot my software tends to be Windows only...

holy christ you are right
The problem is that Apple caters to the masses, people who just want to pick it up and for it to work, and that is pretty much the reason for their success. Luckily, there are jailbreaks available.
Jailbreaking has lately been more trouble than it's worth...
The only thing I don't like about WP7 metro is no custom colors. The accent colors are all preset and I can't really get the blue I want, or the green I want. Its rather shit.

Don't use iOS. You don't have that trouble.

Are you even attempting to hide your blatant bias any more?
the thing is every year when they unveil a new ipad everyone is impressed with the hardware behind it. Though it never truly translates in to anything decent.
Yes the screen res is nice, but i mean that does not justify a 400-700 dollar purchase.

I jailbroke my brother's 5.0.1 iPod Touch 4th Gen when it came out, it works fine and neither of us have noticed any issues.

That's funny because people have been paying $700 for resolutions like that on IPS computer monitors for a long time now.

Not anymore though, prices have changed.
That and a (comparatively) small iPad can't be used as a desktop monitor. In the past the main consumers of IPS were more professional users. Not general users.
[editline]7th March 2012[/editline]
My favorite thing Apple has done is drive the prices of non-TN LCD panels down tremendously, allowing IPS and all it's variants to be viable [IMG]http://www.facepunch.com/fp/ratings/heart.png[/IMG]
Jesus christ I wish I could give faze a good tight slap. He's making android users look like monsters.

No they haven't. An 8bit 1920x1200 IPS monitor is around $500. That's a lower res than this iPad over a larger area. Also you can use the iPad as a monitor with MaxiVista, it just depends if you can deal with the size. I'll definitely be using mine as a secondary little monitor sometimes.

Go check out the comments on iPad launch stories all over the net. The comments are nothing but bashers who feel the need to come in and tell everyone that iOS is for dumb sheep and Android the best thing in the world. I really used to despise Apple fans, but Android fans are just as bad nowadays.

Didn't RPS have an article or two a month ago about monitors, and how IPS is a must no exceptions? They had a monitor battle and they were all $300.
[editline]7th March 2012[/editline]
This is the first result in googling "ips monitor"

Those are 6bit IPS panels. 256K colors + FRC vs 16.7M colors on an 8bit panel. And those were all 1920x1080, which is around 1 million pixels off of 2048x1536.

Yah that looks about right. $400 for a 1920x1200 S-IPS. I guess my $500 estimate was a bit high, but again that's 841728 pixels away from the iPad's resolution. The closest you'll find is 2560x1440 which has around 500,000 more pixels than the iPad, but they're also around $700.

Sorry that I don't support a company that sues anything with innovation.
Sorry that I don't support a company that sues anything with innovation.
You do realize Android does infringe on patents right? It's a fact, not up for debate. That's why so many OEMs are glad Microsoft is willing to licence instead of sue, and why they'll pay MS $15 for every device they sell. Nowhere in the definition of innovate does it mention infringe.
