It quite clearly mentions it: http://lpaweb-static.s3.amazonaws.com/Coalition 2013 Election Policy – Enhance Online Safety - final.pdf I think the worst thing is they waited until the media blackout to announce such a policy. I think their actions are absolutely reprehensible.
It's smart because Labor or any other party can't criticize them through ads but then again it makes potential voters seem like they will release statements at the last minute before an action is taken leaving no time to really compensate what just happened

I for one, am quite happy.
As has recently been achieved in the UK, we expect these standards will involve the major internet service providers providing home network filters for all new home broadband services, which will be switched on as the default unless the customer specifies otherwise.
Ahh yes, I see how that could wrongly imply a UK style opt-out internet filter, glad Turnbull cleared that up.
Truth is, they don't even know what they're doing: Malcolm Turnbull ‏@TurnbullMalcolm 7m In other words - no mandatory filter, no opt out filter, but support parents taking resp'y for their own kids' activity online. Malcolm Turnbull ‏@TurnbullMalcolm 8m Position is Coalition will encourage carriers to make software available for parents to install on own devices to protect kids. Malcolm Turnbull ‏@TurnbullMalcolm 10m Policy released today wrongly indicated we supported an opt out system of internet filtering. That is not our policy and never has been. Malcolm Turnbull ‏@TurnbullMalcolm 11m The Coalition has never supported mandatory internet filtering. Indeed, we have a long record of opposing it. Soon the whole world will be like this, then we will all be using VPN's (not everyone has their own connection, for example a landlord might have wi-fi included in the rent and thus the tenants cannot undo the firewall, this is just one of many examples).

Sure, they can't be criticized, but they also cannot defend any fuck ups.. which in this case may cause them to lose a tonne of votes.
This tweet is great: "Extraordinary. After saying for 3 years the Oppn had their policies ready to go, they post online an incorrect one."

https://twitter.com/TurnbullMalcolm
So, how is this going to even work for mobiles anyway, sure you can do it on Android but on iOS it's near impossible. Create a mini-webkit browser and tell your kid that he can only use that and that one only, what a joke
So Turnbull went on radio and confirmed the filter, then turned around and said it was poorly written and that he didn't get a chance to read the policy properly before it was published. So just who's coming up with the policies if Malcolm Turnbull, Joe Hockey and Tony Abbott don't know about them?
that's doubtful, everything is extremely relative. for example in euro/uk politics, your 'conservative' politicians would be considered nanny state liberals here in USA.
Well actually the LNP are heavily propped up by Rupert Murdoch (who owns like 66% of all of papers/news) like your republicans are with fox (which murdoch also owns). And the LNP are actually really conservative and say a lot of the same bullshit your republicans say too. I'm pretty sure Abbott (their leader) flew in a bunch of Republican advisors for his campaign too.
I am literally stupefied people will willingly be voting for this guy on Saturday. There are just no words.
Parents should be responsible for their children's safety, not the government. Fucking socialists.
It's capitalists, they really want to filter your internet to story piracy and spy on you for corporate reasons under the "save the children bullshit"
that's doubtful, everything is extremely relative. for example in euro/uk politics, your 'conservative' politicians would be considered nanny state liberals here in USA.
Yeah that's the funny thing isn't it. Conservatives over in the UK would probably be considered liberals in the USA, and that should bring shame to American politicians.
Christ not this crap again. I am voting for Labour on Saturday now. Mind is made up..
"No, the Labor governments NBN is too expensive. Lets spend ten million slowing it down with a filter instead!"
Try $74million and we can get Tom Wood on the case.
its spreading through the commonwealth.
Yeah, one idiot here in Canada proposed this too. She was then widely criticized for it.
