Then you're not Native American because words mean things.

Sure, you're correct if you go by the literal words, but Native American is a racial designation and means related to indigenous Americans.

I'm Native and while I've said it before when this topic came up that I'm not bothered by it personally, I absolutely think the name should be changed. It's just ridiculous that we have a team called the Redskins in 2014. It's silly that it's gone on this long, but it's not surprising since a lot of problems Native people face are overlooked simply because no one cares all that much. There's not many of them left and they're not particularly visible, so they tend to get marginalized. The only people mad about the name change are ignoramuses who think that Native people are being "uppity" because they'd rather not have a sports team centered around a racist term (and it is racist, no matter how you try spinning it). Get the fuck over it. There's an endless amount of things you could change the name to. You don't need to keep your racist team name.
