My life is going nowhere, I guess I'll go.
I nominate Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan and the entire jersey shore cast. [editline]31st October 2010[/editline] wait terrible idea
Jersy mars sounds like shit. I nominate my self and my girlfriend.
To be honest, to explore a whole new world, and start something new, that is my dream.. Were is the sign up sheet?
This is really creepy to me, since I'm in the process of reading this book right now: They cut corners on sending two ERVs to Mars - the first one they launched before the shuttle did, and was banged up during landing - and the first ERV completely broke, and now they're stuck for another 23 months on Mars as Earth sends another ERV up and they have to wait for the next minimum-fuel window. Creepy. :iiam:
The martians will they're we're tools.
I've never laughed so hard at a post
I'd probably go
I applied because I am awesome, to bad Ill be middle aged when they do this.
ever read the book lord of the flies? yeah im pretty sure bad shit would happen to the first people on mars, who dont have any fear for punishment for their actions and know that nobody is watching them but if i got an internet connection, decent housing, and a connection to those back on earth, i wouldn't mind going [editline]2nd November 2010[/editline] although that's just really a wet dream, there isn't any reliable way of having a decent network connection. you definitely wouldn't be able to play video games... it would take 3 minutes for information to be sent to earth, and 3 minutes to get back, so all your shit would have a 6 minute delay "heh gonna go to a news website" -wait 6 minutes- "FUCK WRONG PAGE!"
You can't tell me they wouldn't have cameras, and weekly status reports. Internet though? Not with any kind of technology we have right now. [editline]2nd November 2010[/editline]
Wait, didn't NASA or some other organization find water on the Moon?? Why the fuck are we going to Mars then? 1. Moon is much closer 2. Moon is much cooler ( :P ) 3. Moon will be close enough to have a somewhat good internet connection Above all those points.. We'll be able to send our boys/girls back home! If unthinkable happens! Plus I want that damn Luna Park!!!! Most happiest place orbiting Earth!
Moon by 2020, Mars moons by 2030. :patriot:
You can't get boners in space :frown:
I don't get why he's getting disagrees. It's INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT to maintain a decent erection in microgravity. Our blood has a tendency to stay close to our centre of mass in microgravity, I believe.
He must be sent to Mars. In that case NASA won't need to deliver supplies there or maybe even oxygen.
It would suck growing up on Mars, knowing that you are the first person ever who will suffocate, freeze, and other such horrors should you attempt to go outside, and if you went to Earth, even at top physical condition for Mars, you would be barely able to stand. Never seeing any wildlife, not even grass. Just try to imagine it. Learning about Earth would just be rubbing salt in a wound.
It would almost be as bad as being born in Africa or South Korea.
me + 3 other women :quagmire:
Your mother, your sister, your aunt. :quagmire:
I'd go, as long as there is high speed internet.
I'd go, as long as there is high speed internet.
No Internet connection with earth would be possible unless the laws of physics are faulty. [editline]2nd November 2010[/editline] Also why is this not posted yet:
I would still think e-mail could be widely used.
I believe this is an extremely important point: sacrificing human beings for the greater good, obviously in exchange for something, like wealth for their families. Humanity would develop much faster if a grand part of the moral burden of research was dropped, and governments weren't demonized for every death for science. This makes me feel optimistic. :unsmith:
I would rather live in a morally sound society than risk that for progression.

To the tune of several hundred degrees below zero. 3. Moon has much less gravity, probably so little it would cause lethal fuckups in fetal development. Also the point of this isn't so you can play Halo Reach while colonizing a planet. 1. Mars has a trace atmosphere 2. Mars is large enough to sustain a denser atmosphere and studies show that it in fact once did have a flourishing ecosystem. 3. Once again the point is not colonizing a planet so you can play Halo Reach. [editline]2nd November 2010[/editline]
I don't get why he's getting disagrees. I'd go if they invented a holodeck.
Computers...
This isn't how it works
I would go just to kill all of the religious people.
Sounds awesome Would be so cool to be the first man on Mars
I would volunteer if I am sent with the girl I like!
I would volunteer if I am sent with the girl I like!
Your mom can go too.
I would love to go if they would: Provide internet somehow Not alone My family on earth would be payed They would send some things to entertain ourselves But really, what I can see happening is that they would send actual scientists that have a terminal illness, or other deadly and uncureable disease.
Why would they spend all that money to send someone who won't live very long?
Wait, I just realised. Remember Moonbase alpha? They are testing us! Of course with this they will surely found vo- Nevermind.
Jeez, just you and 19 other people for the rest of your lives? No way. Can't work. Imagine the rest of your life with contact between only you and 19 other persons. Their emotions would go out of control. Rage, jealousy, lust, grief, loneliness: these would be the real hurdles, not the environment. In order for a sustainable settlement on another world to even be feasible, you'd need to send a minimum of several hundred people, with an even ratio of men-to-women.
Is it sad that I want to go? I'm sick of this planet. I would love to go to Mars, and even if the mission fails... That would be ok too.
I want to go, there's alot of things on earth i'd miss like family and friends. But at the same time there's alot more things i wouldn't miss, and the fact that i'd get the live on fucking mars like a badass.
