Nasa will need to research how to have sex in space before they do this... Maybe some sort of device that locks the dick into a tube and you put that into the woman?
Can't they just do it on Mars? It's a scientific project if anything, while I think scientists are fairly sure that a baby cannot develop correctly in a 0G environment (although realistically the shuttle/container that they fly on would have centrifugal gravity more than likely), it would be interesting to see how a baby develops in the lesser gravity environment.
Because sending psychopaths into space is always a good idea
Worked for Starcraft.

Since it's not coming back surely that's alright?
Yeah probably, but still low gravity environments could effect the body during development and bones might not grow properly. Thankfully it should always have a healthy and super strong heart as the first generation will likely still have strong muscle and bone.
I nominate Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus and Jonas Brothers.
To be honest i'd rather have Mars not be populated with Retards
I'd do it, it's not like i know anyone who would miss me.

I would do this. To live on another planet? Yes.
I would SO do this!
Makes me think of Moon.
they should demand NASA to send some of the seized cannabis along with other supplies
Exactly. Another thing I'm wondering about this program is that what is the political side of things going to be like. Are the colonisers going to get to rule themselves is someone from Earth going to try and take over
Mars Independence day 2076. [editline]1st November 2010[/editline]
they should demand NASA to send some of the seized cannabis along with other supplies
Someone would probably wander out the air lock looking for munchies. Or they would freak out because they'd realize they were on effin MARS Maaaaaan.
It would suck growing up on Mars, knowing that you are the first person ever who will suffocate, freeze, and other such horrors should you attempt to go outside, and if you went to Earth, even at top physical condition for Mars, you would be barely able to stand. Never seeing any wildlife, not even grass. Just try to imagine it. Learning about Earth would just be rubbing salt in a wound.
Someone would probably wander out the air lock looking for munchies. Or they would freak out because they'd realize they were on effin MARS Maaaaaan.
man i dont care, let em like freeze to death if they think it's a good idea to take off the helmet, but i, for one, would NOT spend my whole life on Mars sober
But wouldn't the heart have to pump harder or slower because of the lack of gravity?
Wouldn't have to pump as hard, less gravity pulling against the blood downwards, the less force the heart has to use to pump it around. If mars actually had life that could give us a good advantage, faster flowing blood meaning more oxygen getting delivered to muscle fibres meaning more energy over a long time scale.
Development in a Low-G Environment would have the following effects: Lower bone and muscle mass due to reduced need for support. /or/ Same bone and muscle mass but taller development than would be sustainable on Earth without health problems. Weaker heart with a slower pulse, which would mean either: A- With a smaller bone and muscle density you would live longer without risk of heart failure due to less strain B- Same lifespan with taller/longer muscle and bone mass/structure than would be sustainable on Earth Less oxygen required to sustain metabolic processes (think the native tribes on the Himalayas) which would mean the ability to hold your breath for longer, survive longer without breathing, more efficient use of space suits, etc. There's a lot more. It's hard to precisely pin down what changes would take place, but it's pretty straightforward. We evolved to live on a (relative) 1G Environment. Mars is 0.38G so people living there would evolve for that environment. If we colonized a planet with 2G Relative Environment colonists would develop the exact opposite. Shorter, stockier, thicker bones, etc.
I believe this is an extremely important point: sacrificing human beings for the greater good, obviously in exchange for something, like wealth for their families. Humanity would develop much faster if a grand part of the moral burden of research was dropped, and governments weren't demonized for every death for science. This makes me feel optimistic. :unsmith:
Science serves human life, not the other way around.
Sounds like my kinda suicide.
I'd go. Heck, why not? I'd love to help scientific research.
Conversation with my girlfriend: "Hey baby, want to go to Mars?" (her laughing)'Yeah, sure okay.' "I'm serious, NASA is doing this program thing whe-" 'No. I was kidding.' Damn...
can i still go on facepunch from mars
can i still go on facepunch from mars
Sure. It'll take half an hour plus for you to anything, but sure.
I'll need a woman of my own to go with me, I don't want to screw up sexual orientation when there aren't enough women to go around.
EARTH FIRST! MAKE MARS OUR BITCH! I'd do it, just without the "you don't come back" catch.
The martians will they're we're tools.
ever read the book lord of the flies? yeah im pretty sure bad shit would happen to the first people on mars, who dont have any fear for punishment for their actions and know that nobody is watching them but if i got an internet connection, decent housing, and a connection to those back on earth, i wouldn't mind going [editline]2nd November 2010[/editline] although that's just really a wet dream, there isn't any reliable way of having a decent network connection. you definitely wouldn't be able to play video games... it would take 3 minutes for information to be sent to earth, and 3 minutes to get back, so all your shit would have a 6 minute delay "heh gonna go to a news website" -wait 6 minutes- "FUCK WRONG PAGE!"
It will be like when britain to discover India and found America a better country. They will be the worlds first spatial pioneers. 500 years from now we will perfect space travel like boats went from wood to modern boats. Holy shit you will go down in the history books for this shit.
Wait, didn't NASA or some other organization find water on the Moon?? Why the fuck are we going to Mars then? 1. Moon is much closer 2. Moon is much cooler ( :P ) 3. Moon will be close enough to have a somewhat good internet connection Above all those points.. We'll be able to send our boys/girls back home! If unthinkable happens! Plus I want that damn Luna Park!!!! Most happiest place orbiting Earth!

Singleplayer games and LAN matches would work absolutely fine, provided you can take them in the first place. Online play would be a no-no, of course, because there wouldn't be an internet connection on Mars. :eng101:
