It just seems like them being on the list was a mistake. It doesn't mean they aren't being shown at gamescom, just they weren't meant to be on the list.
don't get your hopes up
Well, my fault for thinking there was a chance. Honestly Valve's complete refusal to give any information is having extremely detrimental effects on the fanbase. It's hard to get excited about something like this because we all know that there's practically no chance of any legitimacy. And they'll probably stay quiet for years to come.
I can imagine that if Valve told a particular venue that they were planning to announce HL3 at it, other game-makers would avoid that venue like the plague. Any other game announced at it would simply be way overshadowed. I doubt HL3 is actually going to be announced there, it's probably just a "mistake" to attract attention.
This is bullshit. Nobody really gives a damn about hl3 except for the valve / hl fans and the pc player base. Console players that buy the new cod every year probably dont even know the franchise.
You gonna have to unban me once gamecon is over, I still believe in gabe. Then again ain't we waiting until gamecon to confirm this? (User was permabanned for this post ("Toxx" - Asaratha))
boo fucking booo. Valve, look at all these dissapointed people as the rumor is rejected again.
My only reaction to these threads anymore is "you're lying"
I don't recall valve doing any major annoucements on gamescom

If something is coming they announce it or reveal it in an ARG format. As long as Valve has said nothing about HL3 coming anytime soon people don't have the right to bitch about it.
UPDATE: A San José teenager claims to have seen Gabe's face on a piece of toast. Could this be a sign of the third coming of Half Life?

just because they released portal with an arg doesn't mean their next games will be too
They announce it or reveal it in an ARG format
I'm still betting on a H2 2013 release, if they announce it right now the hype will go down and no one will be dissapointed [editline]14th August 2012[/editline]
They announce it or reveal it in an ARG format
Ohhhh my bad
Here's hoping that, if it IS announced at Gamescom, that the game is worth the wait. They ain't gonna give Gordon regenerating health; that'd be an act of utter heresy, but if the suit gets an upgrade of sorts, that'd be cool.
It just seems like them being on the list was a mistake. It doesn't mean they aren't being shown at gamescom, just they weren't meant to be on the list.
Well, EA are supposed to be announcing new shit there. It's plausible but I guess we gotta wait.
How do they fuck up that bad to put both of those games on the list
rip in peace
Uh Gamerscon hasn't happened yet. It's not fair to do that until it has. I mean fuck knows, maybe it's all a flashy show of semantics and trickery. Wait until it has run its course to do something so drastic.
I want to believe. But I don't
Valve have always stated that if they're gonna announce Episode 3, they're gonna do it their way. No doubt this means something hitting Steam first, and an ARG because those have been pretty successful at creating hype. Just take the latest TF2 update as an example. We wont get Episode 3 anytime soon. Valve's currently all about business and about Steam. They're running DOTA2 and CSGO in parallel to check just how much impact microtransactions have on a gaming community's environment, they're building Greenlight, and they've just recently announced a big Steam Community update. They're still game devs, but ATM they're trying to update their business strategies and all the meta stuff around it that keeps their franchises together. They've also got Linux support and biometric feedback bracelets running, plus a possible Hammer revamp and the Source Filmmaker Beta. That's a lot of stuff to chew through, so I wouldn't expect anything Episode 3-related for at least another year - tho realistically I think it's gonna be at least 2-3 years of more waiting.
Thanks for the unban Asaratha, no need to be sorry no harm done!
UPDATE: I have made a second call to Gamescom. I was informed that Valve had previously requested that Half-Life 3 appear on that listing, but apparently, "just a few minutes ago", Valve requested that HL3 be removed from that list.
http://lambdageneration.com/posts/half-life-3-confirmed-to-be-revealed-at-gamescom-2012/ Hype train is back open for business, people.
Watch as now that HL3 has been leaked via that list, HL3 isn't happening because of it. Sigh. ._.
Thread bookmarked for future permaban. :v:
So it was all just a cocktease? I am disappoint, as I rightly should be.
-snip- late
I actually believe that it is time. I never felt this way but I can feel it. Lets have a bet. I will personally get my self permaban if Half Life 3 is NOT announced at Gamescon. I trust you gabe.
rip in peace
HL3 rumors are emotional rollercoasters Jesus Christ
goddamit why must you do this to me internet, stop playing with my emotions
