yeah absolutely it's like complaining that bomb technicians in afghanistan are being given an unfair advantage by being equipped with bomb-protection suits, but you aren't. the difference is that the president is an extremely large target who thousands of people would love to kill right this second. you aren't
yeah but I can go and buy bomb protection suits all day if I wanted to
yeah but I can go and buy bomb protection suits all day if I wanted to
cool but we're talking about putting armed guards in schools not buying bomb suits. you buying a bomb suit doesn't affect anyone else, armed guards do
yeah but I can go and buy bomb protection suits all day if I wanted to
But you can't hire armed guards wearing kevlar armour to stand around you either, and PI's to try and detect possible plots against you? I'm assuming we're talking money no object here.
Reeeeaaalllllly stretching the definition of human shaped... ^Hilariously editorialized banner for a Kotaku article
They're obviously designed to be human analogues, the highest scoring parts of the targets are the head and chest
They're obviously designed to be human analogues, the highest scoring parts of the targets are the head and chest
But that's too low for a heart. And it's between the lungs. That's like aiming for the esophagus.
They're obviously designed to be human analogues, the highest scoring parts of the targets are the head and chest
Either that or it's a weird coffin shooting simulator.
But you can't hire armed guards wearing kevlar armour to stand around you either, and PI's to try and detect possible plots against you? I'm assuming we're talking money no object here.
I can do that all I want. I don't have any reason to, but there's nothing stopping me from doing it other than that I don't have that kind of money.
I can do that all I want. I don't have any reason to, but there's nothing stopping me from doing it other than that I don't have that kind of money.
But the government can afford to do that for essential VIPs, and if they could magically balance the books to do so the ideal solution would be to make sure everyone had such levels of protection, but they can't. If the president dies that would have a massive impact on the country. As much as it would be tragic, your death wouldn't be. Instead, they have to try and pass laws and the like to provide as much protection as they can to as many people as possible. And, of course, people are going to disagree, and as someone ruled by a democratic government it's your right against to vote against where you can, and use legal means such as protest to show your feelings on it. But regardless on whether you have a president who's anti or pro-gun, they, their family and other governmental VIPs going to have armed protection, whether or not you, and likely they likes it. Just comes as being part of the President. I wouldn't say it makes him a hypocrite.
But that's too low for a heart. And it's between the lungs. That's like aiming for the esophagus.
are you seriously denying the targets are based on human dimensions and proportions by saying "but that's not necessarily a killshot! the sternum can withstand pressures up to 200kg...."? nobody cares about the nitty gritty physical details about what it takes to kill a human, the point is that the targets are obviously saying "hey u know a good way to kill someone? shooting them in the face/chest"
Either that or it's a weird coffin shooting simulator.
COD Zombies [editline]16th January 2013[/editline]
are you seriously denying the targets are based on human dimensions and proportions by saying "but that's not necessarily a killshot! the sternum can withstand pressures up to 200kg...."? nobody cares about the nitty gritty physical details about what it takes to kill a human, the point is that the targets are obviously saying "hey u know a good way to kill someone? shooting them in the face/chest"
I'm denying the targets are based on human dimensions because it's a fucking iphone game shooting at virtual plywood.
As much as it would be tragic, your death wouldn't be.
that is an absolutely horrible attitude to have
I'm denying the targets are based on human dimensions because it's a fucking iphone game shooting at virtual plywood.
that doesnt even make sense lol, the fact that its a video game doesnt nullify the content of the video game (human shaped targets)
But that's too low for a heart. And it's between the lungs. That's like aiming for the esophagus.
Oh come on, you can't possibly claim they aren't designed to be human-like. I'm not even saying that the game is problematic, because it isn't, but the NRA's attitude sure is. They passed the buck onto something that they then turn around and do themselves.
All this bullshit in the past few months have made me want to purchase an ar-15 even more.
that doesnt even make sense lol, the fact that its a video game doesnt nullify the content of the video game (human shaped targets)
You are faking outrage at a game where people can virtually shoot virtual guns at virtual traditional targets. I don't see you getting angry at all the kids shooting rather realistic interpretations of actual human beings in games like Battlefield and CoD.
You are faking outrage at a game where people can virtually shoot virtual guns at virtual traditional targets. I don't see you getting angry at all the kids shooting rather realistic interpretations of actual human beings in games like Battlefield and CoD.
that's because the entire point everyone is trying to make here is that the NRA saying violent video games cause violence, then releasing a game where you shoot at human targets, is hypocritical and ridiculous..
You are faking outrage at a game where people can virtually shoot virtual guns at virtual traditional targets. I don't see you getting angry at all the kids shooting rather realistic interpretations of actual human beings in games like Battlefield and CoD.
I don't think he's outraged at the game, I think he's just pissed off at the NRA for hypocritically calling out hypocrisy
that is an absolutely horrible attitude to have
...It's horrible to believe that if someone dies in a country, but who isn't a key part of that country's government/state, their death would be tragic but would have no massive impact on that country?
that's because the entire point everyone is trying to make here is that the NRA saying violent video games cause violence, then releasing a game where you shoot at human targets, is hypocritical and ridiculous..
What in the NRA game is violent? There is no blood, no death, no swearing. It's PG.
What in the NRA game is violent? There is no blood, no death, no swearing. It's PG.
the part where u shoot at human shaped targets and earn points for shooting the humanoid targets in areas specifically chosen to do maximum damage to a human body
...It's horrible to believe that if someone dies in a country, but who isn't a key part of that country's government/state, their death would be tragic but would have no massive impact on that country?
It doesn't matter what some guy in another state that I've never met thinks, but I'd be a lot more upset if someone killed my mother than if someone killed my president. I'm sure most people would say the same thing. private citizens deserve the same level of protection as the president, that's all I'm saying.
A lot of people in Australia sold their gun back after the Port Arthur massacre. But I guess it only worked because Australia is a lot smaller, and don't have gun manufactures.
Nearly 1 million guns were destroyed in the buy back I think but we're almost back to that number now. I doubt the US could ever remove more than a handful of weapons from the population though. The country is built on them.
the part where u shoot at human shaped targets and earn points for shooting the humanoid targets in areas specifically chosen to do maximum damage to a human body
that's been a traditional target for hundreds of years, I'm sure they just chose it because it was something everyone recognizes as a target, not specifically because it was human shaped.
that's been a traditional target for hundreds of years, I'm sure they just chose it because it was something everyone recognizes as a target, not specifically because it was human shaped.
and killing other humans has been done for thousands of years it's still killing humans. a human shaped target is designed to train someone and award them points for being able to hypothetically shoot someone in the face, no matter how long it's been going on
oh, so when you guys say "family is off limits," it just depends on WHOSE family it is. I get it.
There's a pretty big difference between having Secret Service protection for your daughters and bringing home a dead baby for your kids to play with.
the part where u shoot at human shaped targets and earn points for shooting the humanoid targets in areas specifically chosen to do maximum damage to a human body
Then use the other targets
Then use the other targets
not every moment in a video game revolves around killing people, whats your point
It doesn't matter what some guy in another state that I've never met thinks, but I'd be a lot more upset if someone killed my mother than if someone killed my president. I'm sure most people would say the same thing. private citizens deserve the same level of protection as the president, that's all I'm saying.
It's not a matter of being upset, it's a matter of physical impact. You might hate the president, but him dying is going to have a far greater impact on the US than your death, simply because he's a huge core part in the running of it. If 535 random people died in a random accident, it'd be a massive, tragic loss of human life. If all 535 members of congress died, you'd not only have a tragedy on your hands, you'd also have a massive political crisis.
not every moment in a video game revolves around killing people, whats your point
What's yours, then?
What's yours, then?

that's because the entire point everyone is trying to make here is that the NRA saying violent video games cause violence, then releasing a game where you shoot at human targets, is hypocritical and ridiculous..
