I see everyone are celebrating the day that communism won and got sovereignty over Eastern-Europe. Iron curtain; deportation of people who were deemed enemies of the cccp, mostly women, children and old people; and many more crimes against the people in the countries occupied after WW2.

Evidently most people in this thread don't quite understand the nature and caliber of the Soviet Union's contribution to the war. Disregard the horror of Stalin for a moment, and you realize just how horrific and terrifying the Germans plans were. Stalin knew exactly the position he was in, and realized the nature of the war was not for the survival of communism or the state, or anything like that, but rather for the survival of the entire Russian people.

The war was such a huge thing for Russians that I'm pretty sure they are the only ones who have an official celebration for the Day of Defeat.

The US needs military parades too. :saddowns:

Without Russia the Allies would've been targeted by the entire might of Germany.
