Lake-drilling team discovers life under the ice in Antarctica!
Even though you're right, you're talking about millions of years of evolution. Humans landing on Europa might get killed by radiation. They won't adapt within hours (hell, they wouldn't adapt in 200 years) making that world practically impossible to colonise without either going underground or using some radiation shielding.
I'm talking out of my ass though, I know nothing about Europa.
Also it's insane that the lake contains as much as 10% of bacteria as the oceans (per cubic meter of course). That's actually quite a lot for life that has next to no resources to develop. I'm excited!
We are humans.
We specialize in going to places where we can't and where we shouldn't
It's what makes us, us...
in Two hundred years, we'll have ships powerfully enough to repulse radiation of that magnitude and to travel that distance quicker
seeing how far human technology progressed in the last two hundred years just shows you that we can. Nothing is impossible for us, if we, as humans set our minds to a goal or destination...
we will get there.

blind hope isn't going to get us anywhere
First mission to Europa would have to be robotic. Even the drilling rig would have to be fully remote which poses some interesting engineering problems to get around. I think it's doable though. However, drilling through the granite hard ice is going to be another issue on its own. We'll have to find the thinnest spot or a subsurface lake like this one before even attempting to drill it.

Going to Europa to roughneck through ice without any existing infrastructure or protection would be a special kind of hell. At least you'd have Jupiter to look at while you wait for your time to come home if you survive that long.
So is the Moons.
If you're referring to our moon, the single natural satellite of Earth then, it is not as severely affected by radiation because the moon Europa happens to be in Jupiter's radiation belt.
ALL THESE WORLDS ARE YOURS EXCEPT EUROPA
ATTEMPT NO LANDING THERE
Glad we're not landing on Europa then, because Enceladus is where it's at:

Enchiladas?
Would be amazing if they found life on earth!

Already did. Intelligent life on the other hand...
Hasn't this already been done? Living microbes that live in air bubbles or something between the ice that use photosynthesis?
I had just watched The Thing for the first time today. What a coincidence.
Thankfully it should be safe to say that these microbes won't be turning into grotesque mockeries of humans.

just get an ice shack and maybe a couple augers
no prob
I thought this was Lake Vostok. But still this is awesome. Can't wait to see what we'll find under Europa. Imagine a bunch of scary sea creatures with bioluminescence and shit.
Or imagine a species that has evolved to the equivalent of early tribes here on Earth.
But have yet to ever break the surface and find out what lies above the ice...
aw, people made The Thing jokes before I could :(
pretty neat though
You gotta focus on H.P Lovecraft jokes.
