I learned about all sorts of very interesting topics. Like people who like to fuck dolphins. :colbert: [editline]08:54PM[/editline] I also learned that Japan is fucking weird as shit sometimes.
The first scan showed many parts needing to be used. Second one is the brain using less to get the same thing done.
Aren't savvy and naive at the wrong place then?
Fuck yeah we're all geniuses! :eng101:
Fuck yeah we're all geniuses! :eng101:
Have you ever been in GMod General Discussion? :raise:
Aren't savvy and naive at the wrong place then?
Or, different parts being used, which were usually not used at the time. Brain is doing more with more after internet.
New 2 Interwebs = :pseudo: l33t interweb mastars = :eng101:
I didn't learn a damn thing.
Activity in different parts of the brain.
So the people who used the internet started out having a lot of activity and then they had just a little bit? I don't know what that ~means~
So the people who used the internet started out having a lot of activity and then they had just a little bit? I don't know what that ~means~
More efficient.
obv didnt make u smarter th89
So the people who used the internet started out having a lot of activity and then they had just a little bit? I don't know what that ~means~
If they have less activity, but can accomplish the same task, then they learned something to do so. They probably had to do something after their web surf. [editline]08:08PM[/editline] Also, if you look closer, the "After" scans charts them using different regions, meaning something changed along the way.
The internet really improved my vocabulary. I used to write like this- "So this man had all this stuff. It was everywhere. He didn't like having so much stuff." Now I can write like this if I have to- "This man had procured plenty of different possessions over time. The man's belongings had taken over his Backyard, basement, even his bedroom. He was miserable when he looked around the rooms, the objects sat lifelessly in enormous piles."
Now get them to make a report on the OIFY
OIFY gets spammed by you mindless GD'ers and FT whores
If they have less activity, but can accomplish the same task, then they learned something to do so. They probably had to do something after their web surf.
If less activity means they're smarter, why are the internet experts showing MORE activity during the first test and less during the second, while the newbies remain more or less the same? I'm wondering if maybe the chart is mislabeled?
As much as I hate to admit it, Facepunch is one of the reasons I'm really smart compared to my peers.
So the people who used the internet started out having a lot of activity and then they had just a little bit? I don't know what that ~means~
your brain is made from nodes. these nodes tell info to other nodes whenever you do something. the charts show that more nodes are firing info in the web-savvy person, than the non-savvy person during a session on the internet. therefore, brain activity is higher in the web-savvy person.
Do this study on 4chan
Browsing all day made my English grades better, that's for sure.
your brain is made from nodes. these nodes tell info to other nodes whenever you do something. the charts show that more nodes are firing info in the web-savvy person, than the non-savvy person during a session on the internet. therefore, brain activity is higher in the web-savvy person.
Then why did their brain activity go down after a week of internet use, if they were already regular internet users?
Hmm I wonder the same can be said for Youtube commenters
yep, I still wonder. Its been what, 6 years and they still say "your dumb" instead of "you're dumb".
In other words: IF more activity = smarter THEN the internet-savvy people started out smart, and got stupid after 2 weeks of using the internet, while the noobs started out stupid, and stayed stupid. That's not what the abstract says. however, IF less activity = smarter THEN the internet-savvy people started out stupid and got smart after 2 weeks of using the internet, while the noobs started out smart, and stayed smart. That's also not what the abstract says. So neither of those can be correct. The mystery of the brain activity chart remains. 2 possible explanations: 1. There is some complicated science explanation for the chart, in which case it is, left unexplained, useless as an illustration. 2. They mislabeled it, which also leaves it useless as an illustration. Goddamn scientists.
:iiam:
It's also possible that the "Savvy" group started having used the internet a lot prior to the test up to the point they were scanned. After which the limitation of the test (1hr/day max) kicked in causing their brain activity to drop.
I watched a video of him on CBS and his explanation is completely different from the popsci article. Apparently the "1st scan session" is while they're using the internet, and the "2nd scan session" is while they're reading a book, which makes a lot more sense.
Facepunch taught me to put fullstops at the end of my sentences. :eng101: Good old smartness system.
Facepunch taught me to put fullstops at the end of my sentences. :eng101: Good old smartness system.
The smartness system didn't enforce full stops IIRC.
Wikipedia, my friend. Wikipedia :smug:
"Your books have given me wisdom. All that the unresting thought of man has created in the ages is compressed into a small compass in my brain. I know that I am wiser than all of you. "And I despise your books, I despise wisdom and the blessings of this world. It is all worthless, fleeting, illusory, and deceptive, like a mirage. You may be proud, wise, and fine, but death will wipe you off the face of the earth as though you were no more than mice burrowing under the floor, and your posterity, your history, your immortal geniuses will burn or freeze together with the earthly globe."
Amirite.
This is pretty obvious, but it really depends on what you do while your on the internet, some people just play games, and don't get involved with forums or read articles. Those kinds of people won't get much out of the internet. Whereas people who do, will obviously have a higher intake of knowledge and general ability to communicate will go up, Hooray for IQ. Of course, most parts of Facepunch are void of actual a decent IQ standard though, retarded OIFY section is one of them :P
Like we haven't figured this out already. The internet requires you to READ. Forums exercise everyone's skill at arguing, mainly because since we all have anonymity we don't really hesitate to state our opinions. [editline]12:19PM[/editline] But the arguments are still dumb
