i am so sick and tired of these mother fucking hippie whatever the fuck they are
why can't japan just farm whale or something in a controlled environment to get these fuckers off their goddamn back
i don't care if i'm ignorant or whatever the fuck i'm seriously tired of hearing about these sea shepard fuckers like they're curing cancer
yes saving whales is pretty fucking cool but at the same time everyone is making it seem like "OH MY GOD IF WE DON'T SAVE THESE WHALES THE WORLD IS GOING TO FUCKING END AAAAAAAAAA"
i'm so SICK of hearing about these sea shepherd fuckers!!! oh a sea shepherd thread, i'm gonna read it! you ARE ignorant.
Updated the post.
How exactly do we know the Japanese aren't actually using them for scientific purposes? Maybe they just sell the excess? Seems perfectly natural to me, why let all that perfectly good whale go to waste?
even if they ARE using them for scientific purposes, the way they do it is cruel and shouldn't be allowed. but they're not. and they are wasting it anyway, whale meat has never been more unpopular in japan than it is at the moment.
That's easy, cause they've been whaling for hundreds of years and when it got banned they kept doing it and eventually they started doing it with the reasoning of "scientific research"
Besides, what sort of scientific research involves explosively harpooning whales?
And here's an idea, don't kill the whales, then no meat or blubber or oil at all will go to waste.
Yes, Sinking ships using explosives and attacking crew members, is totally fine.
I like whales just as much as the next guy, but sea Sheppard isn't a innocent group, and they should be held responsible for any crime the commit, just as any other person would.
they've never used explosives on a ship while it's crew were on it, and i'm pretty sure the only ships they've sunk like that were pirate whaling ships. when have they ever attacked any ships crew?

Of course they should, just cause they're trying to save some whales doesn't mean they are exempt from laws, and every time they do something illegal they're pulled up about it, like when that guy parachuted from a helicopter onto one of the boats to try and arrest the captain of the ship and these folk will probably get put on trial too if what they did was illegal.

Nice logic there man, "someone disagrees with me, clearly they're nonsensical and shouldn't be taken seriously!"
So according to this thread...
Whales are basically super hero fat Dolphins who double as African Americans before MLK and Women before the ladies who started the Suffrage.
At least everyone treats them as such. Where's the love for Tigers? They're almost extinct, too.
Why are we being biased against every other near-extinct animal?
Because the boat was involved In attacking whaling vessels, I think.
IMO both the Sea Shepperds and the whalers should be thrown in the slammer.
No he got arrested for suing the captain of the Shonan maru, because he was the one who sunk his boat.

yeah uh mate, culture is no excuse for doing fucked things. you support stonings for women who get raped in iran? that's their culture, why not respect it huh?
Why haven't these pirates been banned from the earth yet? What they're doing is terrorism. They're nothing but a bunch of high-seas pirates that use whales as a, admittedly successful, way to evade capture.

EDIT:
mixed with culture I guess but while it's true that's wrong it's not like they're killing whales for the hell of it

You just went full retard.
And who the hell would be biased against tigers? or any other near extinct animals? Tigers kick ass they're fucking awesome, same goes for elephants, rhinos, glass frogs in the Amazon, all them cool little mofos that are nearly extinct are cool and it's primarily because bio diversity is the shit.

No, if the whaling prevention were just a cover that would imply that they had any motivation other than stopping the poachers.
That's not culture that's law
Did you actually just say that as if it justifies it?

lol yeah man, high sea piracy, how the fuck are they pirates? what have they stolen from the whalers? you realize they are funded through DONATIONS not through japanese doubloons???

uh, it's a law based on their culture???? and uh, who cares why they're killing whales? they're killing whales, that's what i have a problem with, they're doing it in an incredibly inhumane way, that's another thing i have a problem with. they're illegally selling the whale meat branded as other types of meat, i have a problem with that too. but hey, it's their culture huh!

Can you link me that? I'm curious as to how much editing that would take considering the Ady Gil wasn't even f****ing moving when it happened.

You do understand that there are literally hundreds of thousands of charities for every possible environment on earth right? There are folk who chain themselves to trees in the rainforests to stop the amazon being destroyed, there are charities in africa who work with park rangers to try and stop ivory poaching and poaching in general.
If you actually think any of your arguments have a leg to stand on here you're completely mistaken.

sir you are taking whales far to seriously
until whales start to give a fuck when humans are getting fucked up by aliens or eachother i just do not know whose side i am on.
On a serious note, honestly, people. You're taking this extremely personally. "It's inhuman!" so are slaughterhouses. Unless you're full out vegetarian, none of us here have the right to talk about inhumane treatment of animals. It's good the Sea Sheps. are defending whales, but at the same time, they're doing the most radical shit I've seen on the high sea since the pirates from Africa or wherever they were from.
Whales are cool, but so is remembering the fact that shit will happen no matter what. Until international waters are regulated more than the Mexico/America border, whaling will continue. It'll happen on and off and this cycle will just repeat.
Lachz0r and Pierre, we should make out later.
Wow that was a lot of grammar errors to correct it's 4:13

He was making a citizen's arrest for the crime of sinking his ship. The reported injury was a burn from a teargas grenade.
Also '80 after their first mission:
"one of the Sea Shepherd crew, Richard Morrison, had been beaten and left severely concussed by members of the Sierra crew" The Sierra was a poaching ship that they intervened with and destroyed.

slaughterhouses are illegal. i am against the inhumane treatment of ANY animal. and yeah i'm taking it seriously, these are one of earths most intelligent creatures and they're being brutally killed in the name of a dying industry and 'cultural' horseshit. and uh, somali pirates kidnap and murder people, i don't think anything sea shepherds have done is as radical as that....... and no, this shit is gonna stop happening because people like sea shepherds exist. and sorry i only kiss vegans (just kidding)

You're assuming the Sea Shepherds are super men/women who have Japanese-Sense. They're making progress granted, but until they can pinpoint where the fuckers are at every waking second, there's always the chance of a whale dying.

Slaughterhouses are actually pretty humane, the animals killed relatively painlessly with a bolt to the brainstem, completely disconnects the brain from the body and essentially kills them stone dead in well under a second, they don't feel a thing.
And battery farming is pretty nasty too, so there goes that part of your argument.
And this won't keep happening, you know why? cause all that has to be done is make it completely illegal to whale even for scientific purposes and guess what, no one will do it. It's globally illegal and only like 3 or 4 countries still do it and all of them under the guise of scientific research if I remember correctly.

Official investigation said both Skippers were at fault.

The Ady Gil has no rudders. It steers using "tank steering" where one prop goes forward and one goes backward. The two props are located under the center hull of the ship. It is powered by a massive Bio-Diesel engine. The ship was idoling because it was low on fuel awaiting the Bob Barker to come and refuel it when the distant Shonan Maru #2 made a hard turn into it. On either of those videos, the Diesel engine of the Ady Gil cannot be heard, and any significant wake caused by the large engine cannot be seen under the middle hull.
Each side blames the other for the incident, arguing that the skipper of the other vessel miscalculated during a dangerous maneuver.[8] Bethune has said that he believes the captain of the Japanese vessel had miscalculated while trying to scrape the bow of the Ady Gil.[44] In a statement released by the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, Chuck Swift, who witnessed the incident from his ship, the Bob Barker, said that both vessels were stationary in the water when the Shōnan Maru 2 "started up and then steered deliberately into the Ady Gil".[40] Watson would later say that the Ady Gil was almost stationary in the water when the Shōnan Maru 2 suddenly changed course and then steered deliberately into it.[38][45] Japan's Institute of Cetacean Research blames the collision on Sea Shepherd, who they say were attempting to entangle their rudder and propeller by repeatedly crossing their bow with lines.[46] The Japanese Fisheries Agency said that the Shōnan Maru 2 had employed a water cannon to deter the Ady Gil, but the anti-whaling vessel undertook manoeuveres like suddenly reducing speed, resulting in the collision
The videos clearly show the Ady Gil was idling, the Japanese excuse is a complete fabrication.

I suppose you could call it progress when Sea Shepard make sure the japanese whaling fleet only reached 17% of their seasonal quota in 2011.
