i seriously doubt Sony would go through the trouble of rebuilding PSN's security if it was simply someone within the company with a vulnerable personal computer.

I just got the official e-mail from Sony warning me about the information loss, 11 days later. Let's assume some customers don't watch a lot of news nor browse much internet, is it really okay for them to learn about their personal information and credit card info being compromised ELEVEN DAYS ex post facto? Sony is just getting pummel after pummel after pummel.
I am interested in knowing how this will effect Sony long term.
The Playstation 3 has never had the top sales and is behind the Wii and 360 in overall sales and I am sure they are going to drop more and more. With the release of their new handheld and probably a feature console within the next two years it really is going to be a trip to see how much this will impact sales.
