The worst thing about 420 is seeing people rant about how not everybody celebrating it smokes weed, I bet almost all of them celebrated St. Patrick's day and aren't Irish.
To be perfectly honest, I'm partial to the occasional joint in social situations... but I've known a few really good folk turn from being funny, sociable, friendly people into dull, sleepy, fucking morons just from smoking excessive amounts of weed. People who say it doesn't have any lasting effects are talking shit, it's pretty obvious that anybody who knows a stoner can see the lasting effects. Sure, in moderation it's fine, but legalising it wouldn't help anybody.
At the end of the day, it's not like it's difficult to get a hold of. Legalising it would just encourage more people to smoke it, and those that reeeaaally want to won't have a problem getting a hold of some anyway.

Why the fuck do people say "legalization encourages use"? Do you have a single real world example of this? Alcohol was far more popular while it was illegal than when it was legal. Since the war on drugs started, drug use has spiraled out of control at exponential rates. Legalization like Portugal instrumented curbed drug use massively.
And either way, marijuana is one of the "big 3" and unlikely to ever go away. It does so little damage to the body and has so few side effects. The problem you have, and you've made in your so called argument, is that all people who smoke heavily are useless or anything to that end. That's not true. Stupid people who smoke lots are still stupid people. Normal people or motivated people who smoke are no different. But just keep generalizing away.

A friend of mine, for example, is addicted to it. He used to listen to punk rock mostly, and now he only listens to reggae and talks about how cool Bob Marley was.

I think you misread me. I don't hate cannabis users, but I really don't like stoners - as far as I am aware there are two big differences, the same as a person who drinks alcohol and an alcoholic. My personal reasons are from my own experience of drug use myself, and watching people rise or fall from it. I really don't care what people do as long as they don't go on about it, rub it in my face.
From my personal experience around here, why is it reasonably okay to talk about getting baked, but being drunk is a course for mockery and piss take on Facepunch? You can call that an assumption yes, but that is from my own observation. Let me be clear, here someone is a stoner if all they do is [I]constantly[/I] smoke cannabis, talks about cannabis, revolves their life around the plant. It is kind of like the gamer guy who does not shut up about video games and won't keep it to himself, [B]all[/B] types of people get annoying when all they talk about is this same activity they do and stoners are known to do just that. That is my personal problem with them, and a lot of people seem to agree with me yet the ones that don't seem to be smokers themselves and call foul play and shout 'stereotype' while they in turn generalise me as someone who believes he is in fact - superior to a guy who smokes a plant. Kind of hypocritical no? It doesn't matter because its my personal opinion.
