I just appreciate anyone who can make a map, because I have a really short attention span, so I get about halfway through an attempt to make a map, then give up, start a new one, and repeat the process.
I know a lot about the Source engine and the sdk. You are misinformed. The mappers you have listed don't map what I do. They make small more detailed maps. Unfortunately with source you have to spread detail out more as the map gets larger. Mainly this comes in for geometry. I try to counter with models and displacements but it only goes so far before you exhaust all available resources. My maps also don't drop to 4fps when looking at a waterfall. Evocityv2d has had over a half million downloads from the download sites where I keep track(garrysmod.org{unfortunately removed after reaching over 400,000 dowloads}, filefront, fpsbanana, and megaupload). At the current time it comes in 4th on the stats page at garrysmod.com with 41 server and v17x the new-ish one has 23 going. Downtown and evocity flip flop depending on the time of day on number of players and number of servers. Evocity generally has a higher player-to-server ratio than downtown. I understand that certain people don't like evocity but that's fine. There are other RP maps out there. From garrysmod.com Map Name / Gamemode/ Servers/ Players 3 rp_downtown_v2 / DarkRP 2.4.1/ 76 / 258 4 rp_evocity_v2d/ DarkRP 2.4.1/ 41 / 232 I do not. I hardly have one at all. If you think I do I would like some proof of it. Also I don't know you therefore you don't know me.
I still think your a cool person and a good mapper :saddowns:
Wow, Facepunch is a very Hostile place. I like it.
It's why I love it. It's a dog eat dog world.
i was forced to sit down and watch this article thats why im so mad about it!!!1
Congrats, I really could care less what someone who has never met me thinks. Your sad attempt at being a troll just goes to show just how pathetic you really are.
That was hardly trolling. Stick to making DarkRP/PERP maps.
Geez, there's hate everywhere in this thread. I think Sgt Sgt is an amazing mapper and I enjoy his maps. Also I don't get why everyone hates interviews so much, I find them interesting.
geez, there's hate everywhere in this thread. i think sgt sgt is an amazing mapper and i enjoy his maps. Also i don't get why everyone hates interviews so much, i find them interesting.
all his maps are blocks with textures. How do you enjoy dis?
That was hardly trolling. Stick to making DarkRP/PERP maps.
Hardly still is. Let me guess you are one of the people who is mad at me for having a private version of evocity that most of fp doesn't know about. Or is it because I'm making some decent coin for having it that way?? [editline]10th March 2011[/editline]
all his maps are blocks with textures. How do you enjoy dis?
I would love to see you do better. However they say those who can't do criticize.
I think it would be pretty pathetic to be mad about something like "a private version of evocity" if that is true. Edit: Facepunch drama, oh please.
I would love to see you do better. However they say those who can't do criticize.
If I had any knowledge of Hammer, I'd love to try. But I'm entitled to my opinion, so I'm not gonna get into the "hur hur u do betr" fight. Also; Terragen and Sgt, you guys enjoying the dumb rating?
If I had any knowledge of Hammer, I'd love to try. But I'm entitled to my opinion, so I'm not gonna get into the "hur hur u do betr" fight.
Never trust a Bieber face.
With every trolling/flaming post in this thread, the grave condition of Facepunch is that much more obvious. There was a time when communities like this were RESPECTFUL, HELPFUL, KIND, RESPONSIBLE and CONSTRUCTIVE. But i cant believe much of that exists here anymore, only a handful of us remain who still follow that example. Just many sad people who seriously have nothing better to do with their so-called lives than to harass each other. I commend Sgt.Sgt. for his contributions to the community and for his honesty towards the state of Facepunch. Anyone who proceeds to flame me will serve to prove my point, so go right ahead. Take your best shot.
I bet 90% of you guys have never played a map he made.
I bet 90% of you guys have never played a map he made.
Uhhh
I don't know anything about Sgt.Sgt or his pasts. All I know is that I enjoy some of the maps he has made and that is enough for me.
First page is pure and total crap. He's a well known mapper, show some respect. Go ahead and be *real* mature by rating me dumb. The people who are flaming him in this thread need to grow up.
Just because he's a well knows mapper, doesn't make him a good people-person.
He wasn't hostile at all in his first post in the thread, and maybe he upset some people in the interview, but i get the idea that it was caused by arseholes like the people on the first page. I finally got around to giving it a change between all the different projects I got going on seems useful I made a deck for the nice evocity houses. I had been using the .dxf export and modeling stuff in 3ds during ec2's development. There are plans for another totally new evocity but not with Source. There is an updated planned for Evocity2 basically more bug fixes and more models. [editline]11th March 2011[/editline]
Just because he's a well knows mapper, doesn't make him a good people-person.
I work for Disney. I have to be a good people person. I help where I can. I kind of stopped for the most part now due to lack of time. I try to answer everyone on steam but with everything going on I can't. The only thing I am ever no exactly nice to people about is common sense crap like "How i install maps?"
We had somebody on the team that was supposed to make an interview with you. He was not very reliable, I almost told him to do the Interview for 3 weeks. After that point he was gone and I never heard about him again. I am sorry that you took place in an interview for nothing, but the log of it never reached the site.
I'd just like to comment on this, because you calling me unreliable is amazingly hilarious and ironic. I was trying to do you a favor you know, I had no incentive or reason whatsoever to do your interview, but I did and sent it in to the guy you told me to send it to (I don't quite remember who it was, but I think it might have been Metanar). You calling me unreliable for this is hilarious, particularly since I would ask the guy you told me to send it to about it several times, and he'd tell me it was about to be published. Why would I not trust him? Saying that I was the one who disappeared after three weeks is a hilarious statement, because I've never removed you from my friends list, yet you're not on it, which means you must have removed me. Funny thing huh? I don't even know why I'm bothering answering this, because it's obvious your group is a total mess, and I regret defending you to begin with. I too am sorry for Lamarr having to go through an interview which would never be published, but blaming it on me is as unfair as you can get it, and just shows exactly how organized you are. There you go, hope I cleared up a bit of what you was clearly ignorant about, feel enlightened I was actually planning on sending this in a PM, but I might as well do it here, as I have nothing to defend, and you do.

After all he was supposed to take care of that interview you made for him. Sorry. I didn't mean to offend you. Regarding the friendslist. If somebody doesn't write a single word in ages then I probably can take him out of friends aswell. Besides that might also be the reason why I never heard form you that the interview was done.
Yeah you pm'ed me a couple of times. However if you want to discuss my mod history who got theirs removed for handing out ridiculous bans?
I think we were discussing your ego :smug:
And TH89 left mod position when garry bent facepunch over and rear-ended it.
Sgt Sgt should realise Facepunch has long ago gone way beyond being a forum purely for GMod enthusiasts. And that he won't make any friends by calling people "postwhores". I don't know about his mapping abilities but assume they are above average. However, he wasn't very good at moderating. "Inactivity" is sometimes a euphemism.
intresting
