TH89 is related to everyone awesome. His mom writes great textbooks, and his cousin(?) is Andrew W.K. At least that's what he said
I'm TH89 Dusheck and my mom tells the truth. Edit: But seriously, the Greek and Scandinavian religions are now relegated to myth position (by Christians, correct?) and now they're mad that people are doing the same thing to their religion. What's wrong with this picture?

It wasn't until people started regaining their common sense that they were reclassified as mere myths.
The guy has got a point. He said that it wasn't necessary to be discussed in a biology book. How would you feel if your beliefs were being criticized in a text book?
Christianity is on it's way out anyway.
The guy has got a point. He said that it wasn't necessary to be discussed in a biology book. How would you feel if your beliefs were being criticized in a text book?
They haven't been criticized, and it was relevant information to the chapter.
They haven't been criticized, and it was relevant information to the chapter.
Well I'm sorry then. Can you put it in context?
The guy has got a point. He said that it wasn't necessary to be discussed in a biology book.
The guy has got a point. He said that it wasn't necessary to be discussed in a biology book. Biblical = From the bible Myth = Story on how things came to be, usually from a religion
Meh, too many retards around for it to ever dissappear completely
It's not criticizing, technically it's fact. Biblical = From the bible Myth = Story on how things came to be, usually from a religion
I could say the Big Bang theory is a myth or evolution is a myth then. It's impossible for us to tell how the universe or life was created because none of us were there.
These assholes are so quick to denounce anything but their own beliefs as fake that they assume that myth automatically means fake. All religions are by definition mythological. It's just that people take that as meaning fake because they put it in the context of historical mythology like greco-roman, norse, and various other pagan mythos which they are ingrained to treat as fairy tales. Fucking idiots, they need to stop thinking of bullshit reasons to ban books.
Goddamn people. Maybe these people should gb2 school themselves. 'Myth' is not synonymous to 'falsity'.
It's not criticizing, technically it's fact. Biblical = From the bible Myth = Story on how things came to be, usually from a religion
That's the worst definition I have ever seen. Anyways, the idea that the world was made 6000 years ago in 7 days is a myth, because it is not correct.
I could say the Big Bang theory is a myth or evolution is a myth then. It's impossible for us to tell how the universe or life was created because none of us were there.
The difference is; both of those are sceintific theories, backed up by various studies and such.
"Replace it with a text that is non-bias" Lol, I wonder if he'll be okay with replacing all those texts in the school system that don't teach evolution. Isn't it bias in itself to teach one side of the story, but not that the other?
The next textbook revision should say "some dumbasses believe..." and then talk about creationism. It will present the theory in full and will contain no bias whatsoever. TH89, tell your mom to get on it
Dang, and I thought our biology textbooks were awesome because someone called I. Slaughters wrote them :saddowns:
I just nostalgia'd so hard in the face.
That's actually your mom? What are the chances..
This is one of the few instances where having the most common phrase in the thread be "Your mom" has been a good thing.
It's a myth because it's a religious story with no evidence supporting it whatsoever. I don't any problem with the way it was worded. Fox news just sucks.
Just edit out that small part from a book. It's supposed to be given out to schools, why upset anyone? The entire quote isn't very large at all. [editline]02:53PM[/editline] I'm an Atheist, I think they should just take out that little part so we don't have shitfits about it.

We can't just not tell kids something because some idiots get offended.
Why is it that reporters are always interrupting the people they interview? Always!
Why is it that reporters are always interrupting the people they interview? Always!
Because they have time slots and they need to stick to them.
If they have so much faith in their god, why do they need to put everyone through all this bullshit to take a book out of the school system?
A Myth is a sacred story concerning the origins of the world or how the world and the creatures in it came to have their present form. An Urban Legend is commonly-held but false belief or a popular conception about a real person or event which exaggerates or idealizes reality Someones got Myth and Urban Legend backwards, your mom is right
Your Mom sounds like one of those people who pushes her beliefs down your throat. Then again, these people are taking it too far. "OH NOEZ MAI KIDS MIGHT FIND OUT PPL QUESTION THER RELIGION :c"
Badass mom :ghost:
