Your Mom sounds like one of those people who pushes her beliefs down your throat.
I went to a lutheran preschool
I went to a lutheran preschool
I went to a school where 90% of the teachers were atheist, but my Mom still thinks anyone who isn't catholic deserves her whining for an hour.
Does this guy really have an extra "n" at the end of his name? Zimmermann? What the fuck?
It's German.
Calling something a myth isn't bashing it.
But why ever mention it? As many scientists so clearly and resolutely disagree with any probability of actual connection of religion and their scientific theories, why bother even noting it, IN A SCIENCE BOOK? I fully agree with modern evolution theories, but an act like this can't be taken differently than as an blatant provocation. Of course, everybody has right to state their beliefs, but school education should always stay as politically, religiously and globally neutral.

I don't know another non religious person in real life besides my self. Every one I know is christian. :(
So the big fag bible-humping asshole is calling Creationism a theoretically scientificly accurate fact? I'm moving to Canada, fuck this country.
Your mom is an epic troll
TH89, do something nice for your mother because of how awesome she is. I can't believe people are still believing a few thousand year old book that bases it's realism on prophets with supernatural powers.

It's about somebody calling it a myth. It's like saying oranges suck and apples rule. You're never going to convince them that oranges are better, but they don't have to be a dick about it
No it's not. Not at all.
In this case, I can quote fox news: "It's one thing to ban religion from schools, but it's another thing to insult it" In this case, the author of the textbook is outright insulting Christians. The word "Myth" was unnecessary, and they could have just inserted: "Belief"

One has piles of scientific evidence and the other has none. People can believe what they want but they cant present it as a legitimate theory.

That's like saying not to mention the word "negro" in a black history book because some emotional fuckhead might be offended by it. Welcome to the real world.

It's like avoiding saying that unicorns are mythical creatures because maybe someone will be offended. It's their own fault they're too god damn stupid to understand science, we shouldn't watch what we say or write because of their ignorance.
I bet it's cause you're black...

She's just stating the facts. And since it's a science textbook, it makes sense. Myth means it MIGHT be true.It just hasn't been proven or disproved yet. It's only insulting if you don't know the actual meaning of the word, and you associate the word myth with Ancient Greek stories.
Ok, but the word myth is not necessary, you fail to have addressed the need for the word other than because the author either hates Christians or is an epic troll
But the 7 day creation story IS a myth!
The book's out of print :(
Not for long!

It's only insulting if you don't know the meaning. Cracker means whip cracker, which is just short for saying your slave master. It's only insulting if you don't know the meaning, but the point is the people who use the word aren't using it in a literal sense, which is why myth is a perfect word to cover up as "LOL I WUZ USING LITRAL MEENING" If she was indeed using the literal meaning then she should probably have written the entire book 100% literally with no figures of speech or expressions at all.
it's teaching both sides what's the problem?
Not for long!
The book is already outdated, they don't keep printing copies of old books, they print a shit load and that's all until a newer book is in print
Wow. I had no idea there were many people from FP in Tennessee. I thought we all knew Tennessee has many extremists from the Bible Belt. This isn't surprising to me, especially with all the extremist Christians I know that live here. [editline]asdf[/editline] Btw, I live about 45 minutes from Knoxville, Gunfox.
