Yea, there are a lot of us that leave the bible up to interpretation. If you take its parts out of context yea it sounds crazy as fuck, but as a whole its understandable.
You just turned the bible into a menu. [editline]02:06AM[/editline]
I leave it all up to the reader. Every one of us has a different meaning that we pull from it.
Holy Hell.
Most(all, except you...so far) of the christians I've talked to are quite a bit hypocritical. However, maybe only the more extreme ones are the ones that end up talking to me about it.
all religious people are hypocrites.. but then again what person ISN'T a hypocrite at one point in their life?
Back to the biology book... I'll be honest I don't see the point of the creationist reference. It seems to just be there to piss off Christians. Just ignore creationism completely like most textbooks do.
Apparently that quote was taken out of context. TH89 says it was talking about the Scopes Trial, which apparently is this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scopes_trial Still, I don't see why she had to inform anyone what christians believe, I'm pretty sure it is well known.
no
prove me wrong
because it's a myth and this is biology.. science. not some pseudoscience bullshit that creationism is.
Yeah okay. So you ignore the creationism part. I don't see her describing how any other religion is false. There was no reason to even bring creationism up, at all. Don't waste time on it and focus on science.
prove me wrong
burden of proof is on you sparky
because it's a myth and this is biology.. science. not some pseudoscience bullshit that creationism is.
It isn't a biology's job to teach religion. That's for a religious studies class.
Apparently that quote was taken out of context. TH89 says it was talking about the Scopes Trial, which apparently is this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scopes_trial
Ah, that makes more sense.
burden of proof is on you sparky
my school took away textbooks as they were written by heathen, please explain
no its not god created earth in 7 days its a real science theory
God just doesn't want to tell us directly, because the lord works in Mysterious ways. AAAAMMMMEEEEENNNN.
my school took away textbooks as they were written by heathen, please explain
you told me to prove that TH89's mom IS NOT an IRL troll.. when you make a claim the burden of proof is on you.

Dude. If she writes a new issue, and removes that line, and makes it just a little more expensive, think of the money she'll rake in from the fundies.
you told me to prove that TH89's mom IS NOT an IRL troll.. when you make a claim the burden of proof is on you.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burden_of_proof which one do I pick to figure out what you mean
Dude. If she writes a new issue, and removes that line, and makes it just a little more expensive, think of the money she'll rake in from the fundies.
If they even decide to re-purchase the book from her.
If they even decide to re-purchase the book from her.
Write under a pen name and they'll never know.
Write under a pen name and they'll never know.
They'll figure it out when the turtles have pentagrams on their shells.
They'll figure it out when the turtles have pentagrams on their shells.
Wait...what? Am I missing some big piece of this conversation or something?
ah, makes more sense now. In all honesty religion should be left out of schools, it's up to the kids to decide what they want to believe. Though i'm not saying you shouldn't be able to discuss your views at school, i'm just saying every textbook should maintain a secular view on it all.
It is secular.
Wait...what? Am I missing some big piece of this conversation or something?
Yes, you are. TH89's mom is obviously a disciple of the antichrist, so naturally the subjects of the illustrative depictions in her publications will be as well.
I have only one thing to say: cdesign proponentsists intelligent design is creationism, creationism is religion, and religion is myth, unless someone could provide evidence for it. I see nothing wrong with this particular part of the textbook.
Tell me this... What created the 3 dimensions. Or energy? Nobody has a scientific theory for that either...
So because we don't know something means we should just make shit up to fill in the gaps. Because that is WAY better than teaching our youth what they will need to know if they ever want to find the real answers to those questions. Nay, we shouldn't be filling their young minds with the desire to explore the unknown. Instead, we should teach them that invoking the word "God" justifies even the dumbest of fucking ideas. Basically your ideas kill progress. [editline]02:42AM[/editline]
let's not make this a "be a dick to all Christians" thread
Maybe if Christians will stop being dicks to all intellectuals we'll actually consider that.
Obviously this literature also contains propaganda that will turn us all homosexual, and cause us to spew blasphemy from our mouths, we'll also turn into satanists..
I see you understand my point of view. Would you like to be a guest writer on my website? http://www.godhatesfags.com/
Aww hell yeah, tremble all you religious posters, as the great Lankist is here.
Even if this doesn't go through, many southern states have a pathological issue with what they perceive to be "liberalness" tainting the system. Admittedly there might be some but not to the ridiculous extent these religious nuts are claiming. At any rate, this sort of things are not helpful. Living in Texas I can definitely sympathize with those who live in states with idiotic educational decisions.
Since this is becoming a bash religions thread, can anyone name the religion based on overcrowded space colonies dumping their aliens on to Hawaiian volcanoes and then blowing them up with H-bombs, then those alien souls infecting your body?
What is scientology?
This isn't jeopardy.
Since this is becoming a bash religions thread, can anyone name the religion based on overcrowded space colonies dumping their aliens on to Hawaiian volcanoes and then blowing them up with H-bombs, then those alien souls infecting your body?
When I saw this on South Park I thought it was an exaggeration, then I read the actual notes written by hubbard, and it's all fucking there.
Whatever happened to separation of church and state? I respect people of all religions but people who do not open their eyes to new things are really stupid and honestly, it is always the Extremest who screw it up for everyone. The Bible was written 3500 years ago and has not changed. Science books and theories get written and changed all the time due to acceptance of new ideas that are proven through series of tests.
