So then all he did is throw the bait out there? It's not his fault the suckers went for it. All it would have taken is for people's reaction to be "The Pledge in another language? Meh, whatever." and his diabolical plan would have failed.
That's assuming his crazy theory about the kid attention-whoring for publicity points is valid. It's also just as easy to believe that he knew it would cause an uproar, which would've been a bigoted out-come (and is it not?), so he did it in order to expose just how dumb and wide-spread islamaphobia is.
Can't we all just be one nation, under Allah, indivisible... The pledge is fucking creepy in any language. It slides past because American kids do it from such a young age that few people think twice about it.
I'm reminded of the attempt to give Vermont a state motto in Latin (in addition to, but not replacing, its English motto), and how people went onto the local-news' Facebook post of their reporting to complain about Mexican illegals. Because Latin Americans speak Latin. As an aside, the act to give Vermont a Latin motto is apparently on the Vermont Senate agenda for tomorrow, by coincidence.
I don't know about you, but I only use AMERICAN numerals.
From the Vermont thread, this is relevant again, too:
On the topic of people failing grade 4 history,

Damn NFL should just use American numbers.
You know when 9/11 happened, all of our history, geography and social studies curriculum was immediately switched to learning about the middle east, their way of life and their culture and I lived in a pretty conservative area too, no fucks were given. God forbid kids learn to pledge to our country in arabic. People need to chill out with this shit, seriously.
All this "hur durr I am offended" and political correctness bullshit, why do the smallest fraction of people who are idiots always make the loudest noise. Can't really discuss anything controversial related without someone pulling the damn racism/sexism/terrorism card or acting as some kind of authority because offended. Also, why does not a week go by without some news about something batshit insane going on in US schools, hope your educational system is not as fucked as the media portrays/suggests it.
