L4D uses different version of engine than 2010 I think.

No, L4D models/maps/etc. will never be possible without rigging.

Ripping is copying it to another game/w.e, rigging is actually altering the model so its works/fits.

This update did nothing of real consequence to my gmod.

Loaded up Garry's Mod after adding infowhatev.txt, and was greeted with menu screen. Single Player button can't be clicked. Had to go into console and go map gm_flatgrass.

Garry's removed the white stupid loading screen, now it looks like youy're connecting to a HL2DM server. Was greeted by this when I loaded the Game.
