I wonder how soon the 1060 will affect the prices on the 970s to drop
Betting all the old cards will cost the same around here. Why do we get so shafted with prices?! :,(
its still a legit great card unless youre pushing 1080p. on benchmarks, the 1080 is basically a 980TI with a little more optimization: http://www.roadtovr.com/nvidia-gtx-1080-benchmark-review-performance-head-to-head-against-the-980ti/2/#standard-benchmarks a whole 10-20 frame difference at 1440p on max.
Wait, it's a great card unless you're using 1080p? So... every gamer?
Wait, it's a great card unless you're using 1080p? So... every gamer?
I mostly use 1080p still due to cheaper monitors with high refresh rates. But a lot of people/"gamers" use 1080p since 1440p is hardly noticeable compared to a 144hz monitor.
Are there any cards that can run 4K at at least 60fps, if not more?
The only solution for 4k is two 1080's atm which you should avoid cause SLI is a joke. 1080ti will do it I bet but it will lose its ability to maintain 4k 60fps fast with new titles. I play overwatch in 4k 60fps atleast but that game isn't really that intensive.
33% is a big difference
33% sounds big, but 10-20 frames is barely noticeable if at 60+ fps and not worth an extra $500~.
I'm pretty happy with my R9 380 I got for $180 last year. Looking forward to getting an RX 480 in a year from now for cheap as dicks, allowing more spending money in other areas. I'm hoping the Zen processors are on par with Intel's, and for cheaper. They're saying 8 core Zen is going to be almost exactly double the performance of the current FX8350. Multithreading as well, so it looks like it's going to be right up there with them. I wonder if they'll be as expensive I'm waiting on them to hit the shelves and see the benchmarks before I decide if I'll get one, or switch to Intel

Could I reasonably expect this card to run 3 1080p monitors for games around medium settings?
Could I reasonably expect this card to run 3 1080p monitors for games around medium settings?
If I could run 3 monitors, 1080p 60FPS with my AMD Sapphire 2GB 7870 (Payday 2, Insurgency, CS:GO) I'm sure this will do fine but hey, I'm not an expert. Apparently Australian pricing is $429 AUD, so it's already beating the AMD 480 in terms of pricing too lol.
I'm more interested in NVidia software than hardware at this point. Shadowplay is a godsend, I'm wondering what they'll come out with next.
Hopefully a better control panel and GeForce Experience program shit takes way too long to start up and change settings in. Thank fuck that you never need to mess with it after Shadowplay is already enabled.

Starts up a lot quicker and overall it seems better, although it still has some weird bugs etc. so you might want to hold off for now.
man, that whole PC parts business gets fuckin sky high prices in europe what, you want a 1080 to play some games at a steady frame rate ? better bring 800 euros and some lube, fuccboi, because my 50% price inflation in comparison to the states is gonna ram your ass I'd really enjoy getting that 1060 since my 760 is already lagging behind, but my wallet isn't big enough for this shit
I swear the prices are just raised like fuck everywhere pretty much apart from the US
The US dollar is a lot stronger than it was back in 2011 - back then I bought what was basically a top tier card (a 6950) for 1500DKK. The RX 480 sits at 2200DKK last I checked. Shit sucks.
