I jumped into this thread thinking that the title really meant ANY game, but I was disappointed.

Free game must be a new, disc-based game for Xbox One, maximum retail value $59.99.
The games in the image aren't what you're restricted to.
The offer is valid for any retail Xbox One game
[editline]4th September 2014[/editline]
And that includes Destiny which is coming out next week.

Thanks for pointing that out. I missed that while reading.
The games in the image aren't what you're restricted to.
Ahh, I missed that last bit.
There's really nothing on the Xbox I want that I haven't been disappointed with already playing on PC.
Some of the PS4 games, even slightly disappointing sequels, are at least a bit more fun. Can't wait for Sunset Overdrive though.
Pretty sure the downfall of this promotion is that it's US Only
it's weird because i noticed someone at the japanese launch mentioned they were given the choice of a free game yesterday when they picked their system up, even though there wasnt any indication at the shop that they were even doing the promotion
I'm powerless to resist
The money is flying out of my wallet
My body is driving itself to the store
I am buying 6 xbones
ive been fighting going to the next gen for a while now, I was content with my WiiU and still am
but microsoft must've signed a pact with satan himself to provide this deal
help my wallet is on fire i can hear chanting
That choice of games is shit. It's like when Microsoft finally decides to share their candy, they give us all the coconut candy.

i remember when i used to post without reading beyond OP
those were dark times

I'm just saying, it's too early to do a deal like this. None of the games are appealing yet except maybe Deadrising 3.

Microsoft did this to themselves with their shit image; people don't read the fine print if you don't draw them in, so why say "Chose a game for free." then display a list of six games which, I would think to most, indicates you have to chose one of those six. Though I don't think fixing up the wording would help, because when you're clearly listing just 6 games, some people are still going to be confused.
Because those games are their currently released big sellers, and they can't show every game released in one advertisement???
Yes, Microsoft did this to boost their image.
It's called marketing, every company does it, especially when they want to fix a bad reputation

fuck you say about coconuts
You guys can get literally any retail game you want with your purchase, not just the ones in the picture. Those are just games that are already out and big sellers. Then again, this is Sensationalist Headlines, where you guys actively avoid reading the actual article and just rush to make an EPIC joke to reap your reward of ratings. It's honestly just stupid how much the Xbox One gets shit on after an admittedly horrible outing at E3 last year. They have done a complete 180, and Microsoft are the only company right now that listens to what the userbase is asking for, interacts with them regularly, and updates the console regularly with features that are requested. I think that's something that they should get credit for. There is literally nothing wrong with the Xbox One right now, and the fact is it has more exclusive games coming out for it that have me excited than the PS4 does, and I own both so don't just say it's me being biased.
I guarantee that if this topic was "Sony To Offer Any Retail Game With Purchase Of PS4" there would be 10000 winner ratings and comments like "based Sony, so awesome and cool, by gamers for gamers".
When Nintendo does it, it's desperation.
When Microsoft does it, it's Revolutionary™

Better for them to do it than not. Though I do agree that there's nothing I really want for the Xbone. If I did, this deal would be a lot more tempting.
But I don't even want any of those games...
Which consoles have let you choose a game for free, as opposed to bundled games, exactly?
I remember the original xbox came with JSRF
pictured: the only games for xbox one
pictured: the only games for xbox one
Actually, all those games are on PC or coming to PC in the near future.
I don't really see any merit in buying the Xbone at this point, all their "exclusives" came to PC anyway. You might as well get a PC and a PS4 so you can have both.
Even more-so if you do not live in America, what does the Xbone offer to non-Americans?
Too bad with the exception of maybe watchdogs, there isn't a decent game in that list
If you're going to get something for free it's best to get the most expensive / best thing
If McDonalds was giving away one free item I wouldn't go for the small fry.. I would get something like a Big Mac
while I understand what you're trying to say, Big Mac isn't the best example since those are pretty cheap as well :v:
some of their chicken sandwiches though....those are actually kinda pricey
Man Microsoft is offering free games? If this doesn't solidify them as the devil I don't know what does.
If I didn't have an Xbone already I would have gotten the Madden 15 bundle with Destiny.
Which consoles have let you choose a game for free, as opposed to bundled games, exactly?
Retailers here let you change things in their bundles freely as long as the stuff you switch it for is worth the same or less.
For example, my mate bought a PS3 at JB Hi-fi when they had a bundle that came with two games. He wasn't interested in either of the two games, so he got them to swap the games for a copy of Gran Turismo 6 and a second controller instead.
Shame there is no exclusives on that list. I might have considered it if the MCC was there.
Xbox One and Watchdogs!!!!!!!!!111
Meanwhile get PC and get hundreds of free games

Pretty sure the downfall of this promotion is that it lasts 1 week and by the time most people hear about it it'll have passed
