No shit, Sherlock, we established this.
But since you evidently lack perspective because you sit on your computer all day, you don't seem to realize that some people are so busy that they don't always have the fucking time to drop the cat off at the house before getting everything else done, regardless of how ideal that situation is. This is why I'm trying to figure out how to prevent the heat from killing the cat, because I can't always take her into the damn store with me.

Actually, you know what, yes I can.
And if the manager calls the cops I'm cutting his throat.
Problem solved, everyone go home.

I don't just sit on my computer all day, stop being a total ass because you don't have the convenience to schedule your day that bloody easily; what you do at worst is drop it off at the vet first thing in the morning and pick it up at the end of the day when you've accomplished everything, I've had to do it myself quite a few times so it's not that fucking hard if you put a little forethought into it.

stop being so defensive, I suggest getting a carrier that will hide the fact that an animal is inside. Certain stores will ask you to leave, others will ignore it. I'm pretty sure it's a health code violation in stores with an open Deli (like Safeway). I highly doubt anyone would just call the cops rather than asking you to take the animal out. Some vets also will let you leave your pet with them until you can pick them up, so I'd check with your vet and see if they allow that.

Last time I tried that I was told that the vet had no room for her to just stay over.
I admit that may have been a one off, but still.

Look I'm sorry if I came off as rude, but when you make your appointment with the vet maybe you should talk to them a couple days before hand to see if there will be room, and at the very worst you could hire a friend for a couple of beers or something to pick up your cat for you or something.

Plan your day better than. No excuse for leaving any living creature in the rising heat.
fuck you two are bickering.
We have a family friend that keeps finding these situations in public. She carries a small hammer in her purse because of it.

For all you people wondering.
A bunch of kids died around here from being left in their cars in that kind of heat, the news talked about it every day of the heatwave, telling people not to leave their kids and pets in the car.
I've had 5 cats over the last few years, and four of them were neglected and taken straight from a rescue shelter.
My first cat was abandoned and left by a road with some kittens.
My second cat, Teddy was very poorly treated in the first 2 years of his life - case in point, when he was handed over to the rescue shelter he was thrown by the back leg to them. He's the most timid cat I've ever had. My latest cat, a kitten, scares the life out of him, despite the fact he is 7 and she is less than a year old, and about a third of his size. For a very, very long time you were lucky if he stood still while you stroked him. Right now, he's at the level where he'll rub his head against your arm and let you stroke him for as long as you want, and he's quite appreciative of it. He won't snuggle up to you closely and very, very rarely sits on people. He never socializes with the other cats unless they're all eating, in which case he tolerates them. The number of occasions he has sat on someone in the last 7 years can be counted with just the fingers on my hands.
My third cat, Felix was one of the nicest experiences I've ever had. He was abandoned with another cat (who got adopted in similar fashion by a shop owner down the road, which we found out after he died) and one day he just decided to stroll into our garden, act affectionate, walk into our house and sit on people. He was a right mess- his fur was dirty, he smelt pretty bad and he was neither neutered nor micro-chipped. After a week of him constantly visiting us, we signed some forms with the local rescue shelter after checking to see if he had any registered owners and we adopted him.
Oddly enough, if you patted your legs he would sit on you 90% of the time. He loved to play and he was almost like a dog. We only had him for 8 weeks, when he was ran over by some careless arsehole less than 100 meters from our house. A week later my first cat was ran over too, not that I ever suspected there was any link.
My fourth cat was an abandoned cat that had spent a fair amount of time patrolling around some docks. Unless you stroke him from behind, he refuses to be stroked at all and just bats your hand away. He can't stand being stroked for extended periods of time either. The weird part is, he formed a bond with my kitten and he's looking after it really well.
It just fucking disgusts me how badly dogs and cats are treated by some people- at the very least, hand it into a shelter, don't just abandon it. The last time I checked the website of the local rescue shelter they had in the region of 80+ cats. I live in a small town.
My cousins friends left his dogs in his conservatory while he went to work like he usually does only to return home to find that they both died from the heat.

He didn't stop to think greenhouses get REALLY HOT?
:downs:
What dipshits.
If someone's gonna leave a pet in the car at least leave the car on for the air conditioning
Your car won't be there when you get back.
I have seen on the passengers side as well. Although that was on an old car so it could've been changed since than.
The lock could simply have been malfunctioning. It's not exactly uncommon in older cars for the rods and cables used to make such things work to come disconnected. I had one of the two latches in my tailgate disconnect like that a couple years ago.
I don't get how people can be so stupid and cruel, if you see any animal in a car with the windows closed during a hot day, I urge you to bust it open and save it. its just not right, man.
Same with kids. Never leave anything with a heart pumping in a fucking car. Shit gets me raged hard.
Unless its cold. In which case kids and dogs prefer the car lol.

I hope your cousin is never allowed to keep animals again.

He only asked how effective leaving the window down a crack is, you assholes. Of course Facepunchers would turn it into an argument.
Leaving windows down a crack is a good idea, but you should really only be leaving the animal long enough for it to be smarter to just leave the car running with A/C.

its 2013 you can leave your car running and locked.
It's scary how hot cars can get in the summers. Even on a sunny winters day like we had today, it was 10c outside yet 30c in my mum's white outlander. Black cars can get even hotter than this. Now if this was summer it would easily be hotter than 45c and it would reach that very quickly.
It's disgusting when this happens. People tend to think that just cracking your window will be enough but you need to consider both the outside temperature and the fact that your car basically turns into a miniature greenhouse while it's sitting in the parking lot. This video is very enlightening as to how hot it actually gets.
It'd be a good idea to place reflective window covers if one is leaving the car for extended periods of time; they work fairly decently. Still not a good idea to leave any animals in the car for anything longer than a piss break or whatever.
