Microsoft mistakenly gifts Windows 8 pirates with a free activation key

I'm running 8 on my netbook and it works okay.
I'm still going to wait for the next windows. This may be good or may not be, but it's similar to what happened with vista. It was hated and liked.
Maybe the next one is going to be the next 7, which basically was mostly loved.
It depends on Microsofts focus of windows. If it'll go in the same direction as 8, it probably won't be an almost loved by all windows either.
The great thing about the start menu is that you don't have to sift through menus like previous versions, and you can organize shortcuts neatly and categorize them like I have. Now it only takes 2 clicks to start something instead of 4 (or hovering over menus til they open)
Plus there are some useful apps like the email/weather stuff to get a quick glimpse instead of opening your email or googling weather.
You don't even need to use it if you really hate it that much, you could just place the icons on desktop or install a classic start menu.
And I love that you can log in to a MS account and it will sync all your icons and computer settings so you could log into a seperate computer and it'll all be there..

See the bottom left: desktop. Click it and you get the desktop we all know and love. The hate bandwagon stems from the misconception that the new start menu replaces the desktop, but it doesn't. It replaces the start menu.
It only replaces it on the ARM versions aka ones that would be for tablets/phones or weak netbooks and you can't even install regular windows programs on ARM systems so the desktop isn't even needed on ARM systems.
My hate actually stems from the marketplace more than anything, a key reason why I don't like this. It also shows history is beginning to repeat itself, if you look at Microsoft past with their OS, compatibility becomes a big concern. It's why I'm not a big fan of Apple and their close fisted store, but where they started with it Microsoft has only adopted it.
Call me crazy for being worried about what MIGHT happened, but tbh I will stick with Win 7 and maybe even dual boot Linux and give that a shot, just to see what the fuss is all about.
I have no opinion on Windows 8, however I do know this; People were exactly the same when Vista came about. A lot of people were hesitant to move up from XP.
Thank god that didn't last. Perhaps history is repeating itself a little here?

Early adoption of vista frequently left you with non functional equipment because the driver support at launch for some hardware was pathetic. 8 really doesn't have the same problems since 99% of the time a 7 driver works just fine for 8. Vista also had massive performance hits on older hardware, while 8 is the exact opposite.
The only reason not to use 8 is the interface. I for one don't like the start screen, as I have said numerous times before. I also don't like the removal of aero, but that's a pretty trivial QQ fest on my part. Everything else is at least comparable to 7, and many things are better.

The marketplace is entirely optional. I removed it from my default metro tiles and I haven't touched it since install.
So, people that have the OS, how is it?
After I used Win8 for a few days, I asked myself: what was windows 7 like?
It's honestly worth upgrading to Win8, and I can't think of a single reason not to.
