3000 people died in the same building 11 years ago. Get over it.
Two of those 3000 people were close relatives of mine, you shut the fuck up. However, this is silly, people need to stop associating it with everything that is vaguely similar to it.
Getting the fuck over it is the rude version of "moving on". Which is what everyone should do, no exceptions. Even if you lost a family member in 9/11 - you should still move on. It's been 11 years. I understand mourning over the victims, which is a perfectly logical thing to do, but as you can see, most people go above and beyond mourning when even the slightest hint of the "incident" evokes sadness and rage.
Get the fuck over it implies that it was nothing really to be bothered with to begin with and is still an horrible thing to say. However I do agree with the rest of your post. Its just shitty when people here act as though it wasn't a big deal, when it very much was to people involved.
I remember how my 2nd grade class just suddenly stopped. The teacher told us that something horrible had happened, and we were all going home. When my mother came to pick up me, my brother, and my sister, we could tell she was extremely worried. My father worked in a building right next to the Twin Towers, and his office was facing them. He had left immediately after witnessing the first impact with his own eyes. This turned out to be a very wise decision, as his office was completely destroyed by debris when the towers collapsed. Even though it's been over a decade since that day, the event is still a very clear memory for us New Yorkers. I am wholly unsurprised by this story and honestly, the advertisement is pretty insensitive.

Oh god, i saw some rice today and that reminded me of the paddy fields from Vietnam and there were tragic events there when the Vietnam War happened! I completely understand that we have to remember these events and pay respects to the people that died, but stop bringing it the fuck up. Move on with your lives.
12/7/41 Never forget.
I'm sure if they put the ad somewhere in another state no one would give a shit
Idiots jump out of windows instead of finding routes down or being sensible. Advert is fine. Typical idiotic public. did they seriously buy three building sides just to plaster a tiny falling guy and a date minimalistic gone too far much
For anyone who doesn't know, the silhouette falling out of the building is from the opening sequence [editline]1st March 2012[/editline]
did they seriously buy three building sides just to plaster a tiny falling guy and a date minimalistic gone too far much
It's actually pretty brilliant, it catches your eye and that's the whole point of advertising.
Whats a guy falling got to do with 9/11? Ok yeah alot of people fell that day but if i fall down the stairs tomorrow does that mean i'd be mocking 9/11?
While I agree it would bring up bad memories in victim's families and survivors, associating every single jumping man, plane crash, or building collapse with 9/11 is just an overboard thing to do. I mean, look at the banned songs from the radio right after 9/11, it's insanity.
Idiots jump out of windows instead of finding routes down or being sensible. Advert is fine. Typical idiotic public.
Try getting stuck in a smoke ridden high rise building with all the exits being blocked off and see how you act. I bet on it you would be over hysteric as well.
Idiots jump out of windows instead of finding routes down or being sensible. Advert is fine. Typical idiotic public.
Typical nihilistic/doesn't-go-out-much teenager response.
Whats a guy falling got to do with 9/11?
Probably has to do with this I guess: Most families actually have moved on from 9/11. Starting over with a new family, etc. and I guess if you really think about it, it could invoke some memories but otherwise I don't think they should tear it down any time soon. It's a good advert.
Typical nihilistic/doesn't-go-out-much teenager response.
Implying going out makes you a retard.
Yeah, well, thousands of people starve to death every day but most people don't bat an eyelash over that. There are people who are born, their entire existence is just starving, then they're dead, that's it, and no one cares.
It's normal to mourn the ones you loved and spent your life with more then people you've never saw or heard of, basically of no meaning to you.
Implying going out makes you a retard.
Implying this is /v/ and you can throw the word implying + anything I said to make a valid statement. Also, you got it backwards.
The thing on the left was what caught my eye
12/7/41 Never forget.
7/22/41 was way more important.
Still, 8/12/80 is a tragedy.
Wow, a sense of humour is needed for americans.
Also in regards to the ad, that's pretty fuckin' funny [editline]1st March 2012[/editline] Yeah, well, thousands of people starve to death every day but most people don't bat an eyelash over that. There are people who are born, their entire existence is just starving, then they're dead, that's it, and no one cares.
So because more people died in x that makes the death of 3000 other innocent people ok?
Its been ten years, get over it. Not everything is about September Fucking Eleventh.
That's really insensitive itself and stupid. That is like telling WWII vets and Vietnam vets to get over it. WWII happened like 60+ Years ago and people continue to go to memorials and stuff. Same for Vietnam a lot of vets from there are still dealing with that shit and it happened 70's. Yes getting mad at the advertisement is a bit silly. Seeing as you can make anything of the ad. For me it is a man descending in to madness (mad men), etc.
Oh boy, this is the worst thing to happen ever.
People underestimate the mental trauma it caused to New Yorkers. Literally, if I sat here and told you some of the stories you might understand why things like this are extremely upsetting. My Mom runs a Gym on the second floor of a building. On the bottom floor is a dance studio and one of the girls down there keeps having episodes because the sound of them dropping weights upstairs reminds her of Jumpers landing which was a very distinct noise. Using the logic in this thread she needs to essentially 'grow the fuck up and get over it it's been 10 years not everything is about 9/11' [editline]1st March 2012[/editline]
Idiots jump out of windows instead of finding routes down or being sensible. Advert is fine. Typical idiotic public.
I have a video that would probably get me banned. It's a video of a apartment fire in Russia and people literally stuck in a room filled with flames and are forced to jump over eight stories because they'll be burned to death. Thirty people jumped in that video and they all died. [editline]1st March 2012[/editline]
Whats a guy falling got to do with 9/11? Ok yeah alot of people fell that day but if i fall down the stairs tomorrow does that mean i'd be mocking 9/11?
Over 200 people fell for over two hours straight on 9-11. They were the most visible victims that day.
Idiots jump out of windows instead of finding routes down or being sensible. Advert is fine. Typical idiotic public.
yeah man, totally stupid to jump out of windows they weren't burning to death or choking from smoke inhalation or anything, haha and most of the staircases weren't severed, either, heh
9/11 is only as big a deal as we make it. Unfortunately 2 wars, a president, the bill of rights, our respect, and now the world economy later... CAN WE GET OVER THE FACT THAT THEY KNOCKED OUR BUILDINGS OVER? It would be unfair to say that we haven't easily paid back everyone responsible, IN FULL, for their criminal actions against us. Basically, 9/11 mourners, that was 10 years ago. I can't understand how hard growing up without a family member/ loosing a family member might be, but if you never move on, you will be haunted forever. The price of life is death, and we will all pay that one day. Until then everything is a gift. EDIT: HURR This is Facepunch. I shouldn't be sensitive.
yeah man, totally stupid to jump out of windows they weren't burning to death or dying from smoke inhalation or anything, haha and most of the staircases weren't severed, either, heh
After the impacts all the staircases in the North Tower were completely severed, escape was impossible. In the South Tower only one stairwell remained passable for around 30~ minutes before it too collapsed. Only 14 people made it out and they were from the impact floors, anyone above probably couldn't even make it past the fires and destruction the plane caused below them to reach that stairwell if they tried.
Implying going out makes you a retard.
> Implying going out makes you a retard > Implying implications > Implying that this is 4chan
Its been ten years, get over it. Not everything is about September Fucking Eleventh.
Hey maybe I could make a billboard for my Israeli crematorium by showing a load of Jews in ovens. The Holocaust was half a century ago, people should just, like, GET OVER IT
