I don't know....I don't see a resemblance. 9/11 isn't the first thing to come to mind. And 9/11 certainly wasn't the only time people were falling/jumping off buildings. It's just these people instantly think of 9/11 when ever they see a person falling/jumping off a building.
9/11 is only as big a deal as we make it. Unfortunately 2 wars, a president, the bill of rights, our respect, and now the world economy later... CAN WE GET OVER THE FACT THAT THEY KNOCKED OUR BUILDINGS OVER? It would be unfair to say that we haven't easily paid back everyone responsible, IN FULL, for their criminal actions against us. Basically, 9/11 mourners, that was 10 years ago. I can't understand how hard growing up without a family member/ loosing a family member might be, but if you never move on, you will be haunted forever. The price of life is death, and we will all pay that one day. Until then everything is a gift.
This is a quote from someone who was there. I want you to read it and try to gasp that there might be a reason why people have deep emotional trauma from 9-11 when you live in New York City where it happened.
I have more things I should tell, but it is just getting the memories to come back that I have tried to bury. I have to deal with it sooner or later though, if not it will deal with me. I have often told people that I think our eyeballs might very well be among the strongest parts we have.
Some think that is a joke, but it isn't. You could look out the windows and see different things scattered. Some things were tiny, but you could tell that they were of human origin, like small pieces of skin, a finger, toe, and you could see several teeth scattered about. Then you could see these rather odd looking white, round balls every so often. I remember one female cop that looked out and stared trying to figure out what different things were. Her gaze kept falling a paticular place, and expression remained puzzled looking. That did not last long.
They were moving people through at a decent pace, which was amazing to me considering the events, and number of people there. You would see people carrying others, or two would get a shoulder and walk them out. One poor woman's foot was cut very badly, and we were clearing a way so she could go ahead of us.
This was going on while the female cop was looking out the windows. Then we heard a sound that was..............a mixture of sounds ? It was a bang, splat, and a crunching sound, that is the only way I can decsribe it. The sound is troubling, almost as much as the visuals, and in some ways worse.
As a few were gazing out the windows, a poor black man came down feet first, though his knees were bent. The tips of his toes hit first, then his knees, then his body and arms. When his head hit, it shot both of his eyeballs out and one hit the window in front of the cop. She screamed a scream that would make chills run up your spine. The eyeball hit the window, and slowly slid down the glass leaving a trail as it did. It sound bizzare, I know it does. But it happened. Strange a body can hit with enough force to explode and destroy it's self, and blood comes out in a mist and it looks like hamburger meat laying there with bone marrow and fatty tissue clumped up. Yet the eyeballs remained for the most part intact.
The Jumpers are a really, really big trigger for 9-11 survivors so when you put an ad like this in New York City it's going to bring up bad memories because almost every single person in the city that day saw people jump and some of the really more unfortunate people saw them land.
I have a dozen more stories just as bad or worse than that one (Like the Pregnant Jumper) and I even have pictures and videos. I know it's hard for some younger people to understand, especially if you weren't alive when it happened but you need to be a little sensitive? Maybe put yourself in the shoes of the victims who at this point were just witnesses. The trauma caused to them that day will never go away, it's just as bad as any disability.

I actually just asked me friend about what he thinks of this ad. He was there that day and was the one I quoted so I'll post back here when I have an opinion from him.

I know, right, and the cars in the picture are offensive because many cars got destroyed by the falling towers
Funny how 9/11's unofficial slogan (if you will) is "Never forget" yet in many movies, tv shows, games, etc the twin towers are edited out when they are re-released. Erased from all history.

I always knew it was a big deal and will continue to be so. People saying it isn't are insensitive and just being assholes. I never really saw anyone talk about what you posted before. Really does make you think and it is saddening that all these people had to witness such a terrible thing from that standpoint.
I'm not going to lie, someone hitting the ground and "exploding" per say would stick with me forever.

Can't even comprehend your retarded mind
how are you supposed to tell it's for mad men? I don't know what the show is about, so excuse me if it has something to do with the show.
I think it's ridiculous to be overly sensitive but I don't know how many of you saw the photos of the results of the people who did jump that day. The violence and gore is something that would utterly shock the average person. There were literally chunks of red matter, limbs, and various pieces of what once was human beings littering a wide radius around the site of the towers. It doesn't surprise me that the concept of the Ad would strike a chord with some people.
lol Yeah get over it, faggots. People died, who cares? Not me!
That was a very iconic photo and it's stupid to think that this won't remind you of 9/11, it's a part of American culture- stop trying to be edgy or non-conformist by telling people to get over it. Just because you don't have emotional ties to 9/11 doesn't mean nobody does, and you're just being a selfish asshole to tell people how to feel about it.

RIP 9/11 Triple Towers Never Forget.

It's like Ukrainians being offended by power plants.

Best film in that regard is Gangs of New York, at the end there's a timelapse-esque shot of NY developing over the course of 150 years and we see the twin towers on the iconic skyline.
On release in 2002 there was public outcry because it was so close to the event and Scorsese's response was "this film is about the people who built New York, not those who tried to destroy it" (ish).
Fucking legend, you're so right about the "never forget" thing.
Kinda odd how the equivalent to the amount of people who died in 9/11 die every day, all over the world from wars, disease, hunger, and other atrocities. And I bet you next to none of those people who are "offended' actually give a shit. Thousands die every year in the US alone due to a huge list of causes, do you ever hear anything about that? Not really.
Rather than dwell on a event that happened 10 sodding years ago, how about we focus on preventing future loss of human life, eh? Oh that's right, because no one actually cares.
This argument is so fucking stupid. People care and are offended because they where actually there when it happened or it effected them in some way. 9/11 is special in the U.S because of the large amount of life that was lost in such a short time period and because of how it was done on purpose.
It is horrible what happens in the world each day but people are detached from it so natural they are not going to care as much about it compared to something that has happened near or in relation to them.
I don't expect someone from Japan to care as much 9/11 as I do, just as they shouldn't expect me to care as much about the recent tsunamis as they do. However Im not going to tell someone from Japan to "get over it" because I know it very much does effect them, regardless if it effects me.
Also, in the grand scheme of things... the loss of life in 9/11 was minimal compared to a lot of other human atrocities, none of which seem to get continually dug up. I saw a brilliant video once, and it was an American news host basically telling the country to man the fuck up. The only reason it gets continually rehashed every year is because the government needs to remind the people to be afraid. If anybody can find it, post a link.
""Now that I see it in person, it's like 'oh God,' and they put it right in front of tall buildings, and that is not a cool thing to do,"he told PIX 11 News."
Yeah because its not like almost every single building in new york is a "tall building".

Its all about who was affected. Its "continually rehashed" each year because so many people who are still alive are affected by it. I really dont know why its so hard to understand that regardless if it was 11 years ago people are still going to be affected by it.
Here's a bit of context. How many of these are continually rehashed in the same way? Not many.

What does "rehashed" mean? Many of the incidents you just listed have memorial events all the time. Just because 315,000 people died in Darfur doesnt mean that the Iraq civilian deaths are any less tragic.
And to my point earlier, the deaths in Darfur are going to mean more to people in Darfur, just as Iraq civilian deaths are going to mean more to people in Iraq. It doesn't mean the people in Iraq dont give a shit what happens to people in Darfur, its just means they are more affected by something happening in their own country so naturally they are going to care more about it.
None of those events are as plastered over the media each year as 9/11, with the possible exception for the Holocaust.
I'm not saying it's not tragic, it is. Any loss of life is. The problem is how much American media continues to expound the same garbage every year, and almost demands the attention of the entire world. It's almost disrespectful to those that lost their lives. It's all relative, 24,000 Aghan civilians have been murdered as a result of the war sparked by 9/11 and yet there's never any mention about them or their families.
It's understandable for people to still be grieving losses, but I cant help but feel offended when people continue to publicly kick up a fuss when it's really nothing in the grand scheme of things.
And in recent news people bitch about anything they see.
I find it more horrifying that people still have the mentality that nukes are a godsend and we should use them to solve every problem, even though they can kill hundreds of thousands of people and effect that area and everyone who steps onto it for generations.
All in less of a time then it took for the towers support structure to fail.

I mentioned before that the reason that 9/11 is so big in America is that the mass loss of life that it all occurred in such a small time period and the fact that it is still a pretty recent event.
And the media does do storys on Afghan civilian incidents and such. Hell there has probable been more media attention focusing on Afghanistan than on 9/11. I really cant specifically remember the last time I saw a 9/11 headline on here.
There are several death-tolls on that list which are US related.
The after-effects of 9/11 have resulted in the stuff seen in the OP. Just making a completely unrelated sign is enough to spark people saying it's "offensive". Movie makers, music artists, and news groups all have to censor what they do otherwise it sparks more backlash. People act like it was the greatest tragedy ever in the history of mankind when it clearly is not. Do you see such a big deal made out of any of the other death causes on that lists? I don't. Don't tell me that 27,000 US suicides have "affected less" than 9/11.
If 27,000 US suicides happened on the same day it would be as big a deal as 9/11. How ever I do agree that people shouldn't relate unrelated shit too it.
We should ban highrise buildings because they remind some people of 911
Also planes muslims and the letters 1, 9 and / plus the entire event yeehaw
The large rooftop sign at 30th Street and Seventh Avenue shows a man in a suit appearing to tumble out of a window above
There is no window above or below the image of the man falling...And it can't really tell what he's wearing let alone if it's a suit. Sounds like someones just butt hurt.
