Are you SHITTING me? So lets say a god damn AIRPLANE flew into your building a few floors below you. Wanna walk through the mess of fire and damn-hot metal and concrete?
Especially through the tallest building in the world (at that time). Seriously, jumping is the correct choice here unless you're closer to the bottom.
Are you SHITTING me? So lets say a god damn AIRPLANE flew into your building a few floors below you. Wanna walk through the mess of fire and damn-hot metal and concrete?
NO WAY dude An AIRPLANE Shit son
I bet if an airline advertised on one of the buildings people would bitch.
This is what my friend said, the one who saw the Jumpers land right infront of him and who was there that day.
Honestly ? I think they should leave it up. Not to be a smartass, or to offend people though. I think they should leave it up so people have to contend with it. For the most part, the people that jumped or fell have been considered a freakish sideshow in a horrible event, and swept under the rug, or forgotten about altogether. It has been in just the last few years that this subject has been talked about openly and not been considered taboo. I read on one website a few years ago left by some dumbass. They said the people in the towers should have been charged with attempted murder, even though they were killed. They said the people were selfish assholes, and deserved to have charges against their surviving family members. Then at the end, they said they put people's lives in danger just because they did not want to die in a fire. I told that fucker a few things, and none of them were pleasant. is wrong with people like that ? Those people did not want to die in a fire ? Those people did not want to die at all, but knew they were going to anyway. You get a fire under your ass and the only way to escape is certain death from 1,200 feet up, unless you are very dedicated or made of steel, you are going out that window. Even if you were made of steel, the fire would have gotten the better of you anyway, just like it did the towers. For anyone that doubts this, try this little test. Make a circle on the ground about 10 feet around, then sit an old couch on it's end in the middle of the circle. Make another circle two feet wider than the other one all the way around it. Have someone light it ablaze, and see if you can stand in the two foot space circling the couch. You will not stay there for long. It is easy to step out of the circle because there are no real dangers doing it. Do the same thing 1,200 feet in the air, and you will still get away from those flames, no matter if it kills you. Some people do not seem to understand this concept for some reason, though I can not figure out why. The poor people did not commit suicide, they were going to die either way and they knew it, they took the fastest way to get there, and nobody in their right mind would blame them either. For those reasons, I think they should leave it up, the so called "jumpers" need to be dealt with, and as of yet, very few people have confronted this problem head on. They should not have died in the first place, but since they did, we should not let it be in vain, we should confront the problem, and better our buildings as well as ourselves.

9/11 was over a decade ago. People need to stop being so sensitive and get over it already.
The Rwandan Genocide was almost 20 years ago, why do people care?
That's what those ads are for? God damn advertisements these days are retarded, how am I supposed to know what the hell they're advertising.
I think the quicker people get over 9/11, the better American society will be. That's not to say that 9/11 wasn't a tragedy or that the loss of life is regrettable, but it's better to just move on. A national memorial is fine, crying "Bloody murder" over anything that resembles an action that happened on 9/11 is not okay.
blank white and barely anything what a damn waste
I doubt that the creators of this billboard did not realize that said billboard would cause controversy. Most likely it was a publicity stunt to gain attention for their show. Considering that there wasn't any actual reference to the show, besides the alleged representations of the characters "hardships" and the date of the season premiere, the creators probably realized the scene of someone falling in new York from a tall building would gain large amounts of attention, especially from the media. To everyone saying get over about 9/11, please think about what you are saying. Many of the people in new York will never forget the atrocity that occured that day, and as easy as it might be to not feel emotionally connected to the event, the peoples of new york have the right to request that such an obviously insensitive advertisement be taken down. In regards to those stating that 9/11 was insignificant compared to the numerous wars and genocides that have occured throughout history, you aren't wrong but it does not change the fact that people were affected by 9/11. Although many Americans do in fact overreact to 9/11 while having not been affected by the event at all, telling them to shut up just shows insensitivity towards the many who were in fact damaged by the event. As for my personal opinion on the topic, the advertisement should be taken down. Even though it does not represent anything to do with 9/11 it should be done as a courtesy to those who find it a problem, especially since it is related to such a fragile subject.
Seriously? It's been 11 years and people still have their panties all bunched up over anything that can be remotely related to 9/11? Move on already.
Well I doubt telling a Holocaust joke will be seen as tasteful
It's been over a decade, I think it's time to stop worrying what 9/11 families think about every little thing.
Ironically, People have forgotten the Pearl Harbor Attack but give these Americans 70 years. 70 years should be long enough for people to forget the terrorist attack on September 11.
marchuary 11 never forget
alright it was a while ago but im pretty sure they were the twin towers not the triplet towers. i don't get why everyone is upset.
This is what my friend said, the one who saw the Jumpers land right infront of him and who was there that day.
Did he ever tell you how it looked? I always wondered how it looks, splat I assume? Incoming dumb posts asking me why I always wondered this.
Did he ever tell you how it looked? I always wondered how it looks, splat I assume? Incoming dumb posts asking me why I always wondered this.
It's not dumb. It's morbid curiosity. I'll let him tell you the basics, he's gone into detail before but this is what happened to him that day.
I had a friend that worked in the North Tower at an investment firm. Wont get into the names too much, his family still has a hard road to go because of dumbshits like the "Let's drool crew", and they still get stupid shits saying rather coldhearted things to them or in their presence and I do not wish to add to that. Started as a "road trip" I guess you could say. Had talked to Todd a few days after the 1st of September, and told him we were coming that direction. As you can guess he was rather proud to work at the WTC, and rightfuly so. The guy was very intelligent. He was a friend that I looked at like " This guy has his shit going for him, he's a hard worker, has a good heart, and can take his life anywhere he wants to, what does he see in ME that has him consider me a friend ? " That was just Todd's nature though. I am sure you have seen people that glorify people after they have died, but it wasn't that way with Todd, he was a good man before and after death. He had been working there about 6 months, and said he would still get confused about the WTC complex because it was a city within a city, but I think that was more of a joke. I don't travel much, and never really liked big crowds. Todd was a friend though, and since we were going that direction, I overcame my feelings about big crowds to see what hand life had dealt him. He would have done the same for me. We stopped at a hotel we could afford on the Jersey side overnight. We wanted to make the time count and left out early. I am very dense at times, and little sleep makes it even worse. After getting turned in circles a bit, we made it to Lower Manhattan, around 8:15. There were so many things to see, we did not know where to start. We went down into the lower levels under the WTC complex to the various stores. Todd was going to meet up with us at 9:15 am to show us the sights and sounds of the complex. While down there, a sound like a blevy explosion radiated through the complex. Not being sure of what it was, I was skeptical when someone said a plane hit. New Yorkers see all kinds of shit, and have seen just about everything you can imagine, and for that reason I was skeptical. I thought a plane hit ? Why is everyone not going apeshit ? Some looked worried, others acted like it was no big deal. More and more people were saying it was deffitnetly a plane, and a shop keeper started handing out disposable cameras. He knew it was going to be a big deal, a historic deal. He told people to take all the pictures they could, and I listened. Not sure how many others took him seriously, but I did. They started getting people out as quick as they could, and started sending people up the stairs to higher levels. BANG BANG What the fuck ? BANG "It's bombs, they are trying to kill us all !" said one person. People were starting to freak out after that. BANG BANG BANG " That is no fucking bomb. " Said a man. " Well what the fuck is it ? " she asked. " Not sure, but it's no bomb. " Boooomm!!!!!!!!! " That was a bomb !! " he said. People were really uneasy now, then a person said it was another plane. As you can imagine, there started to a different feeling in the air. Now it was no accident, it was intentional. BANG BANG They kept getting louder the futher up we went. Starting up the stairs to the plaza level, people screamed and jumped back. That is when I knew exactly what we were hearing. As we were getting closer, some were not really aware of what was going on. You could see the plaza out the windows, and there was debris everywhere. A woman was kind of puzzled looking out, and a cop told us not to look out the windows. When someone tells you something like that, what is the first thing you do ? You look out. If there was any doubt left, it quickly vanished. BOOOOOOM Right before your eyes, you see a man explode on impact. His blood came out in a mist, and parts went everywhere. We were all kind of stunned, and did not have time to process what just happened when another hit. The ones that hit further out were the same EVERYTIME. The difference was there were several people that hit right beside the towers, and their blood kept spraying the windows like spraypaint. Each one added another "layer" to the windows. Some did not want to realize what they had just seen and were in shock. A heavy set woman landed between the musicstage and facade and covered almost 3 windows. Just when I thought it could not get worse, a pregnant woman hit. She landed right hip first, and exploded everywhere, along with her unborn child. After that, things got really fuzzy. All of it was horrible to see, but seeing that baby explode that way has fucked my head up. I remember being in some sort of a daze, shock, whatever you call it. I remember coming out at ground level close to the towers, but not right at them. I looked up in time to see a man hit the corner of the Marriot Hotel and explode, though his limbs hit the concrete with enough force to still be felt about 50 feet away. Then another, and another and another. After seeing a couple more fall between the North Tower and Marriot, my brain went in to autopilot I guess. All of it was so fucked up, it took my mind off of why I was there to begin with. Todd. Walking away from the WTC complex, I was worried about him, and had no clue what happened to him. After both collapses, I did not have to wonder anymore, I knew my friend was dead.
And further describing the Jumpers.
They would hit and spread out in about an 8 foot circle, legs go flying, arms, hands, feet. I don't know how, but a couple of heads did survive the fall. Some don't believe it, but when they hit, their blood came out in a mist. You would have a shoe laying there with what looked like hamburger meat around it. Bone marrow and fatty tissue is what you would see the most of.
Some of the shit he saw is just incredible.
Wow, Facepunch can be really insensitive sometimes. These people lost spouses, children, parents, friends, colleagues, etc... Saying that it is overplayed or people need to "forget" is insulting. If your child dies, it's a traumatic event. Would you forget it? Probably not. That being said, I think that people need to look at the intention of the poster. It can be viewed as insensitive for those "never forgeters" but that wasn't the intention. It's not like they're burning the building down or something, they're expressing their difficulties with the poster. Are you suggesting we censor those who wish to speak out against things they find offensive? It's like if a war hero goes back to Vietnam or something, it's going to bring up unpleasant memories. You don't tell him/her to "just forget already."
oh no I hear a plane, 9/11! That's what it seems like now.
Reminds me of the fools who had Air Force One fly by NYC for an Air Force photo-shoot. The only people notified of the plane were officials, so everyone else just ran around thinking it was 9/11 all over again.
i break into tears if i see any body of water, what after the losses that occurred on seven forty one. never forget.

So what, planes aren't allowed to fly above NYC?
Its been ten years, get over it. Not everything is about September Fucking Eleventh.
Yeah, let's see you say that if you actually knew anyone affected by 9/11. [editline]1st March 2012[/editline]
wow thats fucking retarded. So what, planes aren't allowed to fly above NYC?
Wow really?
wow thats fucking retarded. So what, planes aren't allowed to fly above NYC?
Uhm, about that
I remember how my 2nd grade class just suddenly stopped. The teacher told us that something horrible had happened, and we were all going home. When my mother came to pick up me, my brother, and my sister, we could tell she was extremely worried. My father worked in a building right next to the Twin Towers, and his office was facing them. He had left immediately after witnessing the first impact with his own eyes. This turned out to be a very wise decision, as his office was completely destroyed by debris when the towers collapsed. Even though it's been over a decade since that day, the event is still a very clear memory for us New Yorkers. I am wholly unsurprised by this story and honestly, the advertisement is pretty insensitive.
Goddamnit where is that 9/11 frogout gif when you need it
Eh. I don't necessarily think people need to forget 9/11 in any sense. It was a really tragic day in the U.S. Even if a lot more people die everywhere else due to other reasons it is NOT everyday that 3,000 people get murdered in a first-world country that had previously been enjoying a very long period of relative peace. As for the ad, I don't think it's insensitive but I also understand those people that might be disturbed by it. I don't know if you guys have actually ever watched the scenes of people falling out of those towers, but it's really fucking awful. There's even audio in one building of people falling through the glass ceiling and hitting the ground. Can you imagine the conditions in that building when falling a thousand or two feet is the BETTER option? It was a horrible day and doesn't deserve to be forgotten. But the ad's not really that bad.
How is it insensitive? Its just a dude in a suit falling from a high place and a white background
You have this pretty amazing organ called a brain, you should use it sometime to find the connections between the jumpers of 9/11 (a terrible event that all Americans do not wish to be reminded of, or find any semblance of insensitivity towards) and a guy jumping off skyscraper/towers think brain use neurons synapses
People fell for it! It's an example of marketing success!
I don't see how that relates to 9/11?
I don't see how that relates to 9/11?
Jumpers. Like the 200 that jumped from the World Trade Center on 9-11 The 200 Jumpers that traumatized an entire city. Those Jumpers.
Jumpers. Like the 200 that jumped from the World Trade Center on 9-11 The 200 Jumpers that traumatized an entire city. Those Jumpers.
With any understanding of modern psychology and the effects of trauma, it certainly would be immensely distressing to have that as such a realistic depiction of what you saw on your daily route. I don't think it should be removed due to insensitivity over 9/11 or respect to those who jumped, but maybe because it is in the middle of an area where an awful lot of people are traumatized about what happened, especially considering what we know now about combat veterans and how PTSD is very sensitive to similar or associated stimuli.
I never said it should be removed. I don't think it should. The entire reason I'm in the thread commenting is because I'm literally baffled at how insensitive and dense people are that they don't understand why it's even offensive in the first place.
