Wow, Facepunch can be really insensitive sometimes. These people lost spouses, children, parents, friends, colleagues, etc... Saying that it is overplayed or people need to "forget" is insulting. If your child dies, it's a traumatic event. Would you forget it? Probably not. That being said, I think that people need to look at the intention of the poster. It can be viewed as insensitive for those "never forgeters" but that wasn't the intention. It's not like they're burning the building down or something, they're expressing their difficulties with the poster. Are you suggesting we censor those who wish to speak out against things they find offensive? It's like if a war hero goes back to Vietnam or something, it's going to bring up unpleasant memories. You don't tell him/her to "just forget already."
I lost my 2 granpas, one of them lost a leg and died years later, the other died of pancreatic cancer, but you don't see me crying for them every time we talk about legs and pancreas or cancer and those happened after 9/11. If we let everyone who find stuff offensive tell us what to do, we start living in a bubble wrapped nanny country where even the slightest thing that in some random way might look like something offensive to someone will sparkle a war. [editline]2nd March 2012[/editline]
I never said it should be removed. I don't think it should. The entire reason I'm in the thread commenting is because I'm literally baffled at how insensitive and dense people are that they don't understand why it's even offensive in the first place.
"Omg it looks like things people did 10 years ago on 9/11!" If we go through that path, ban all people jumping off of buildings when suiciding because it resembles 9/11. WE GET IT! It happened 10 years ago! We get to see the movie every year! Let it fucking go...
What's the difference between a goat and 9/11? You don't milk a goat for 10 years. People on FacePunch sure are whiney bitches...
9/11 was my god damn birthday, and I got over it. Come on, people.
Lucky get. My birthday is international holocaust memorial day.
It's not dumb. It's morbid curiosity. I'll let him tell you the basics, he's gone into detail before but this is what happened to him that day. And further describing the Jumpers. Some of the shit he saw is just incredible.
I feel slightly nauseous just reading that.
Its been ten years, get over it. Not everything is about September Fucking Eleventh.
wow. one does not simply get over 2000 people dying. especially the people who knew or were related to them
god dam islam muslim terrorists again!!!!! murrika 4 lyfe!!!! praise jeebus!!!!! get the fuck over it
Because just because people are sensitive over 9/11, they hate Muslims, mindlessly love their country and are heavy Christians. I know that people are stupid, but it does not instantly make your post cool or funny if you say shit like that, god damn.
ban the simpsons
I've always wondered why people jumped.
Think of it this way, would you rather die a slow painful death by being burned to death or die quickly and painlessly by jumping from 1,600 feet up? If I had to make the choice, i'd probably choose the latter.
I've always wondered why people jumped.
Pretty easy concept. [editline]2nd March 2012[/editline]
i'd rip off all my clothes, tie them together, and attempt to make a parachute. i'd also grab the nearest flag and stick it between my buttcheaks.
I've seen two cases where a person tried to climb down the facade on 9/11 with a rope or something, lost his grip and fell. Someone else tried to use a big table cloth or something as a parachute. Obviously it didn't work.
So if I fall out of a window and die will someone complain about it and say it reminds them of 9/11? Because they bloody might as well now.
So because more people died in x that makes the death of 3000 other innocent people ok?
How did you draw that conclusion? [editline]3rd March 2012[/editline]
how are you supposed to tell it's for mad men? I don't know what the show is about, so excuse me if it has something to do with the show.
When you run to the internet in a rage and search, or ask someone what it's all about, you'll find out, and the advertisement has done its job.
I seem to have forgotten what 9/11 was; can someone remind me?
