Japan's New Goateed Geminoid Robot Is Uncomfortably Realistic - Polidicks

Why can they never program realistic expressions? They always program the expressions to be caricatures, they're more like our written smiley faces than a human expressions. The eye are always fixed in one place, the mouth always open quickly while remaining in it's previous expression, and it's facial changes are more erratic than smooth. If anything he could look like a really tense person, bit even that is highly vague. I just don't understand why programming them more realistic facial expressions must be that hard, gaming companies often does it pretty well in their games after all... certainly there must be a similar way to "animate" these robots.

They should smooth out animations somehow. Then it would be awesome and more realistic.

it's not realistic, we can easily mistaken it as a human if they make a machine that actually act like us humans, movement, human speech, like every normal human being. It got to be dead accurate too, otherwise we know something is off.
