I've been showing my fat CoD addict friend truly good games lately and it's kinda funny because he actually gets into all of them but he can't get them because his PC sucks. Today I showed him BF2 and he was pumped when i told him BF3 was going to be on console too. Now I get to get a kick out of telling him the PC version will have 24 more players and bigger maps :v:
It's far from forgotten dude. Sounds like you just want to see developers pick the "cool" stuff over everything else. Besides, WWII is very much overdone.
Pretty much every possible war setting is overdone. And the ones that aren't usually aren't interesting enough to pull in a large enough audience. Hell, the Korean war was pretty uninteresting when you think about it. No major battles (except Inchon, but that's it), just a massive back-and-forth battle where in one moment America/South Korea had control of most of the country, the next moment winter sets in and weakens them enough for North Korea to take back most of their land. Rinse and Repeat until they finally went into a stalemate at the 38th parallel. It was like WWI on a smaller scale.

WWI on a smaller scale? Okay. Besides, WWI wasn't all trenches and Maxims anyways.
What I mean is that the term shouldn't be taken too literally that people intentionally skip over it because they believe that said war has no significance to be depicted in any form of media. In fact Korea needs more exposure in modern media, along with anything else like the Six Day War, Rhodesia, and all the conflicts that Western culture skips over.
Thats what I want to, but we've skipped over so much with Modern and World War II. We never explored all sides fully and instead left this giant stamp of "DIS ISH HOWZ IT WNET!"
Battlefield 3: Rubble Wookies.

If you bring it back to WWI it will just be another generic shooter. (Yeah I know they had vehicles like prototype tanks and scout planes but that's not nearly enough to compare to the vehicle diversity of BF3.
Bots or bust.
Please Revisit BF 2142. That game was so ahead of its time.
Oh we can only dream of Battlefield 2143. Maybe after BF3?
old battlefield damage models MUST be implimented in to bf3 helmet hits take 50 rounds of 7.62 yet a stray bullet to the FACE takes you out immediately

I dont care about anything else they have to say, if Bf3 has jets/planes I'm preordering.

Ever watched Lawrence of Arabia?
What I love about BF2 is the big maps, the variety in vehicles(both land, water and air) and the big amount of players. While I like BC2, it feels nothing like this, and it's pretty safe to say that they are not going to go back to the concept of BF2, so I expect another BC2ish game. Sadly.
Project Reality for BF3? Hell yes.
PR Devs are making PR2 on a different engine, as well as continuing development on BF2 and ArmA2/OA. If BF3 turns out to be shit at least there's still those to fall back on.
i hope they will start to work on bf1943 again after this D=
Can't wait for this.
The teaser was shit. And i can see this easily turning into another cod copy.
I have hopes for this but I am worried at the same time, dont mess it up.
The teaser was shit. And i can see this easily turning into another cod copy.
You must have perfect 20/20 eye sight then, because all I could tell from that teaser is that people will have guns, vehicles will go boom and there will be jets.
Stupid teasers.
Stupid teasers.
and their not showing anything-ness. Though I have a feeling that some of the stuff in the trailer is in engine gameplay and not just scripted CGI phoneyness. like from 0:15 too 0:25 looks like it could very well the real article, but we can't know for sure, we'll just have to wait until gameinformer drops some screenshots and more info and GDC where EA is supposed to showcase the game on March 1st.
Looks like gameplay/cgi filter raped to hell.
Its going to be interesting to see how they make it different form the other shoots like call of duty, and also how they make if different to the Bad Company series.

I'd be perfectly content with what's basically BF2 with more/new vehicles and weapons as well as larger maps.
