That music.
That Saleel Sawarim video was enough to convince me that they're pigs. I really don't understand how you can target people like that. this is on level with Hitler bad
jesus christ, 40 minutes of that stuff? I only lasted 10. I really don't understand how you can target people like that. this is on level with Hitler bad
I'm too scared to click it, is it literally just 40 minutes of brutal killings?
I'm too scared to click it, is it literally just 40 minutes of brutal killings?
as far as I can tell, yeah. I honestly got the impression they were killing just for the sake of killing. randomly driving up next to civilian cars and shooting them up, then coming back and making sure they're dead. it's filmed like a CoD montage, absolutely horrible
lol at the people trying desperately to separate people who do bad things from their humanity as if it makes them uncomfortable or something that isn't how you understand anything
lol at the people trying desperately to separate people who do bad things from their humanity as if it makes them uncomfortable or something that isn't how you understand anything
I don't get what you mean.
I don't get what you mean.
Read through this thread and notice all the hysterical panic posts from people wanting to label these people as monsters and animals as a way to put as much distance between themselves - because sharing humanity makes them feel uncomfortable. Yet they never realize how dangerous and anti-intellectual that rhetoric actually is.
I don't get what you mean.
As in people are trying to make the ISIS guys out to be inhuman or mentally ill, and seem to forget that people are perfectly capable of doing all these things and still being normal people, particularly when they believe they're in the right. Most of these ISIS guys are probably not evil, what they are doing is what they think is right, which makes them even scarier because how do you reason with someone like that?
that NSFW video made me appreciate where I was born and raised in the world so much more.
I'm too scared to click it, is it literally just 40 minutes of brutal killings?
I've seen a lot worse to be honest. Nothing in the vid stuck out to me as overly cringe worthy. Mostly guys taking bullets and if you're used to that the vid is fine. I have a great sense of humanity.

You get these guys in ballistic vests and ski masks standing around looking like commandos and you think that this is going to save Iraq. I mean, fucking really. Oh, and they captured a couple militants and bombed a couple technicals, it's their fuckng Waterloo, ain't it. Meanwhile, you know what kind of fight these guys put up against ISIS in Mosul a couple of days ago? When 800 militants entered the city, 30,000 iraqi troops turned tail and ran. Didn't fire a shot.

Their higher ups are university educated and the way they operate is very very organized. They gather statistics and do everything a normal army would try to do to analyze and better themselves.
I've seen a lot worse to be honest. Nothing in the vid stuck out to me as overly cringe worthy. Mostly guys taking bullets and if you're used to that the vid is fine. I have a great sense of humanity.
yeah because most people are adjusted to videos of people being shot to death
Top part says Islamic State, bottom bit says Muhammed is the prophet or something like that.
First it says " la ilaha illa laah" means there is no god but god. Second says "something" prophet Mohammad". I speak arabic on daily bases in case you wonder.
Top part says Islamic State, bottom bit says Muhammed is the prophet or something like that.
Since when did La ilaha illallah(rough romanization) translate to Islamic state? :v:
All these posts saying "kill them all"... What the fuck happened to "get rid of the death penalty! Only life imprisonment!"
Iraq isn't exactly a place capable of handling a court of justice anyway, and these people are on shooting sprees - they're actively committing these crimes right now. When a suspect is going around shooting people, killing him isn't the death penalty, it's protecting other people. If you can't see the difference you're honestly pretty dumb. If some of these people were captured, they should of course go through the justice system. Can't say I'd care much for the outcome for those that did commit these crimes, but I'll still be against the death penalty out of principle.
Drone the shit out of them and give the Iraqi's air support + a tiny bit of leadership on the ground in the bases to make sure it runs decently smooth.
Drone the shit out of them and give the Iraqi's air support + a tiny bit of leadership on the ground in the bases to make sure it runs decently smooth.
You don't even need to be on the ground to give some leadership.
You're not serious are you?
When you have seen the worst that humanity is capable of, you realize that we do not all deserve mercy.
As in people are trying to make the ISIS guys out to be inhuman or mentally ill, and seem to forget that people are perfectly capable of doing all these things and still being normal people, particularly when they believe they're in the right. Not that I'm big on philosophy, but Arendt would probably have one or two things to say about all this.
When you have seen the worst that humanity is capable of, you realize that we do not all deserve mercy.
They're asshole, sure. It's just that sexualshark has some difficulty reconciling the fact that these people are actually people with emotions and the like with what they have done. NoDachi already made the point but again, its stupid to try and denigrate them as inhuman since it gets you no-where to understanding why they are like that or why people do things like that. Also mercy is pretty cool, I'd definitely give it a go in the first place.
but if we can't label these people as "evil", no one really is - it becomes kind of non-functional, at least when describing individuals.
~Evil~ already was a non-functioning label that doesn't really mean anything and shouldn't be used to begin with
~Evil~ already was a non-functioning label that doesn't really mean anything and shouldn't be used to begin with
If I'm getting what you're saying right, you can't be "good" either - if these people aren't evil, because they've simply been influenced to believe what they're doing is right, people doing "good" are actually just doing what they've been influenced to do. Is a person not at all responsible for their own choices and morals? Sounds a bit too deterministic for my tastes. Or is that not what you're saying?
Sure, these people probably think they're doing the right thing, but if we can't label these people as "evil", no one really is - it becomes kind of non-functional, at least when describing individuals. Not that I'm big on philosophy, but Arendt would probably have one or two things to say about all this.
"Evil" is a childish fairy tale, designed to simplify people and actions alike down to anti-intellectual motives and reasoning which does not permit the clear understanding of facts and reality. It should never be taken into account when deciding the guilt of someone or some-thing. We don't and shouldn't prosecute people because they're 'evil' anymore. Arendt also had little to do with philosophy and she has never considered herself a philosopher, she rejected that label altogether.
If I'm getting what you're saying right, you can't be "good" either - if these people aren't evil, because they've simply been influenced to believe what they're doing is right, people doing "good" are actually just doing what they've been influenced to do. The ISIS and similar are as strictly moralistic as you could ever imagine. Hence why its a useless phrase.
Evil literally means immoral. The ISIS and similar are as strictly moralistic as you could ever imagine. Hence why its a useless phrase.
You're a lot more relativistic than me, then. Not that I'm saying "evil" isn't a big simplification of something very complex, but I find that some morals should simply be universally applicable. Societal differences or not, some circumstances are simply universal, and from them the same basic morals should be deductible. I don't believe these people kill other people because they think it's morally correct, I think they've simply dehumanized their enemies to the point where morals don't apply to them.
You're a lot more relativistic than me, then.
I'm a lot more linguistically correct than you.
I wonder how many people will join ISIS just so they wont get butchered by them.
There's video of ISIS capturing these guys and executing them. They seem to be a bit of "special forces" in name only. Although I don't want to disparage them too much.
Source on that? Not the video, but if you have any article on that. And this is so freaking fucked, hope we can find any sort of solution to this.
