F3 had a certain feeling and charm to it that New Vegas didn't IMO. That said New Vegas was drastically improved in just about every other aspect. But please if they are going to do this FPS-RPG hybrid shit again they really need to improve the FPS aspect.
I agree i liked the game play of New Vegas but in terms of setting and story I liked Fallout 3 a lot better.
I would almost like to see Bethesda tackle a completely different setting (preferably a Mass Effect style sci-fi) I feel I may be a bit burned out on post apocalypse settings.
And melee weapons are useless in either game. Especially in New Vegas, as you get guns and ammo pretty much instantly. At least in my experience.
Really now? Make yourself a deathclaw gauntlet in FO3 with an unarmed character and you can literally kill enclave in a few swings because it completely ignores armor and hits their health directly. The only trouble you'll have is with super mutant behemoths and overlords.
New Vegas was better than Fallout 3 in almost every way. The only real debatable point was that Fallout 3 was placed in a more interesting (although completely impossible considering the war) place. New Vegas had, over Fallout 3, -Companions who aren't brain dead 2 dimensional bullet shields with 10 lines of dialogue -Better main story -Better and more moral choices -Better crafting -More guns -More skills/perks -More factions that actually have meaning -Better DLCs -Minimal lore raping How is this a contest? I really loved Skyrim and I hate the "morrowind is infinitely 100% better in every way skyrim is console kiddie shit" but you can see a real decline in writing and gameplay in the elder scrolls and if that is anything to go by, Fallout 4 will also follow the same path.
Since it's the Three Dog VO I'm assuming it's gonna be in DC again? I loved the atmosphere of post-apocalyptic DC, and on Bethesda's upgraded [sp]Gamebryo[/sp] engine, it will look even better I'd love to see Fallout this year. E3 is looking good already
If it can manage to be as good as Fallout 3, I'll be excited and enjoy it. While Fallout 3 was inferior to Fallout New Vegas, it still remains my favorite Bethesda title.
Actually this whole thing could be swept aside if you realize that The Enclave was going to use the purifier to poison the water and kill everyone who had some minor mutations (see: everyone but The Enclave), whereas The Brotherhood was just trying to clean the water.
Not quite. Colonel Autumn was unaware of the President's genocidal plans and wanted to purify the water in return for the loyalty of the people of the Capital Wasteland. Eden had to go behind his back and trust some kid he just met for reason other then "I asked him". That said, I believe Autumn still ordered purges against Ghouls, seeing them as irredeemable.

Doing the same setting twice wouldn't be nearly as memorable.
A new Fallout would be so great, I'm excited.

I'd have to guess that FO4 will only take place a few years or so after FO3, and that Three-Dog has since relocated to a different city.
GUESS WHAT ENGINE ITS ON GUYS
If this game is to FO3 what Skyrim was to Oblivion, I am really looking forward to this. Skyrim was great, even if it was dumbed down.
Ah fuck I wanted more NCR and I get THREE DAWGGGG instead
In terms of Story i preferred New Vegas, the several different outcomes of the game really made it feel as though i had an impact. Excited as hell for this though
I don't get why everyone praises Fallout 3's atmosphere so much. Everything is covered in a puke green filter that makes it look as if the bombs fell a couple of years ago, while it's supposed to take place 200 years after the apocalypse. FO3 was good. But it was hardly the best Fallout game. New Vegas actually captured the feel of the original games and didn't have stupid boring quests with robotic, cardboard cut characters. If you seriously think FO3 had better writing than NV then you need to re-evaluate what you consider good writing. The only thing Bethesda has going for them is their amazing art department which in my opinion is vastly superior to anything Obsidian could do.
The art department is dead, don't bother with that.
So long as I can sink 100+ fun hours into it I really don't give a shit what it's like.
I surely hope they use whats left of Adam Adamowicz's mind-blowing concept art. I honestly can't recall seeing something in Fallout 3 not drawn by him.
I hope so too, and I'm pretty certain that he drew all concept art. I have the book from the collectors edition, and p much everything in the game is covered there, from setting to locations to atmosphere to items to creatures.
at the end of the day it will still be more fallout to be played, and can anyone really complain about that?
In terms of Story i preferred New Vegas, the several different outcomes of the game really made it feel as though i had an impact.
This reminds me that New Vegas (as well as the first two Fallout games) also had fantastic endings, mainly because it told you the outcome of a lot of things you did and didn't do, rather than just saying "GOOD JOB YOU HELPED X FACTION GET HOOVER DAM AND YOU WERE GOOD/EVIL/NEUTRAL". Hell, it had a better ending than most games have. I'd like to see Bethesda try to do something similar (Especially considering FO3's subpar ending, which they also lied about in the pre-release hype), but knowing them, they'll probably just railroad the story even more and only let you kill certain people at designated times and barely give you any meaningful dialogue choices to begin with. I don't mean to come off as a cynical elitist twat, but it's hard not to be skeptical after Skyrim ended up just being one step forward and three steps back.
Bethesda games always have the best armour designs ever so I'm hoping F4 can give us more of that NCR rangers are so fucking sexy jesus christ Elite Riot gear masterrace
Probably not going to have NCRin this one, with the whole Boston/Three Dog thing
I'm okay with this if they can get the art team to give us something just as cool
I'm okay with this if they can get the art team to give us something just as cool
as long as it's a fallout game there will always be fucking sweet armor and weapons
I wonder if they're going to release FO4 soon since the creation engine isn't great enough for next-gen tech. I'm no mod maker though so I have no real clue as to what the limitations are, but from playing Skyrim it seems like Gamebryo Enhanced Edition.
If I wanted to get into the series, should I pick up Fallout 3 or New Vegas?
Really now? I guess I just believe guns should be scarcer in general.
If I wanted to get into the series, should I pick up Fallout 3 or New Vegas?
Both Though you did miss your chance because the entire series goes dirt cheap in sales
If I wanted to get into the series, should I pick up Fallout 3 or New Vegas?
Start with Fallout 3 then play vegas, like everyone else did.
Both Though you did miss your chance because the entire series goes dirt cheap in sales
I'm in no rush, I'll probably pick both up the next time the franchise goes on sale.
