I'm okay with this if they can get the art team to give us something just as cool
It'd be great if they manage to fit in some Ranger scouts or something
Does everyone forget that Bethesda made the gaming engine, all of the models, coding base ect? NV was fantastic but it was really just a big mod, and I wouldn't want modders to make a game from scratch. Not trying to down Obsidian or anything, but honestly Bethesda easily did twenty to thirty times more work, and I'd like them to make Fallout 4. I had no problem at all with Fallout 3, yeah the story was meh, but it was all the DLCs, scenery, just... everything, that made it so perfect. There were just some poor choices made in NV, like changing a bunch of weapon charactoristics when they didn't need to be, and making everything so freaking expensive. But the big difference in the two games, is that Fallout 3 is a more realistic apocalypse; the lonely world, the barely existent society, it made it feel so amazing when you discovered things, people that you could interact with, because of how barren and lifeless the nuclear apocalypse was. In NV, you can barely go anywhere without being attacked by something and seeing new people, and it makes sense, since the bombs didn't hit the strip, so its a REALLY populated world in comparison, but it didn't give me the same feeling as Fallout did... In terms of ammo types, weapon mods, and more charactor choices, it was awesome! But just not the same for me. I'd love to see Obsidian cover a larger DLC/content pack though.
Oh lord I'm the pageking...
Hopefully they stick to a more realistic plot in the Fallout sense, and don't go wacky with the story like in 3. Also, if you want a REAL sense of desolation and an incredible atmosphere, play the original Fallout.
I've played/completed FO3, and I enjoyed it. The biggest problem I found was how much it crashed. Never played NV though, I'd get it but steam doesn't accept my debit card.
I can't wait. Hopefully Bethesda will learn from their mistakes in Skyrim though. So no towns full of essential NPCs, more voice actors, and most of all better quests. None of this "hey I need you to fetch X, go into cave and kill these draugur" except with ghouls and metro tunnels.

Their reaction to Oblivion's criticism seemed to be to remove the features entirely instead of fixing them
I don't see the point of arguing over 3 and NV. They were both fantastic.
What if they made is like the first two Fallout games top down turn based Oh lord the rage.

They created the game world and all the wacky cool shit that's in it. What Bethesda/Zenimax did was pull a dick move back in the '90s, buying the entire IP from them for a ridiculously low price while Interplay (now Obsidian) was struggling to get by. Besides, Bethesda did not create Gamebryo, they got a license for it and modified it for their games (that's why people call it Bethbryo). They re-used the same formula they went with the Elder Scrolls series and gave it a Fallout paintjob. Say whatever you want about New Vegas but to say that Bethesda put more work on the Fallout franchise than it's own creators is just preposterous. Not trying to be a dick or anything, but that's just unfair. Without Interplay/Obsidian's work there would be no Fallout.
I don't see the point of arguing over 3 and NV. They were both fantastic.
I wouldn't go as far as calling either of them fantastic. Both were interesting games, but they're really flawed.
Why do people think the Mojave was boring? In the mojave you had -A large faction of warriors inspired by the romans -Gangs of prisoners armed to the teeth with explosives -An enclosed xenophobic faction in control of a large airfield base -The NCR. Nuff said -A radio station controlled by schizophrenic nightkin -The gambling town of primm -A town/hotel based around a gant dinosaur -A ghoul cult devoted to getting to the moon -A remnant town for the first super mutants -Freeside and the kings -New Vegas strip and the casino families -Hoover dam -A vault overstocked with guns -A vault based around sacrificing vault members -A vault overgrown with plant based lifeforms -A super radioactive maze of a vault -A goddamn solar powered laser deathray -SHIT SON THERE IS EVEN FUCKING MORE

THREE DOG OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT! I look forward to more Fallout [editline]9th January 2013[/editline] I liked both Fallout 3 and New Vegas, they were both pretty damn good, but considering it's a game franchise (is that the right word for this) made by Bethesda, of course it's going to have bugs and glitches up the ying yang Hint: Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, Skyrim, Brink (huehue I said Brink)

If you take those two games on their own, then technically Bethesda did do more work.

Should have tweeted "Got some great news out of the town of Megaton"
Can't wait for them to inevitably go back to its isometric turn based roots! :buddy:
everyone keeps talking about how the capital wasteland should be more vibrant but i think they forget how it got the fuck slammed out of it seriously, there's at least a dozen hugeass craters speckled around it, and it's only about 16 sq miles there's a reason it's so irradiated and barren, even 200 years after the apocalypse
Its gonna be fantastic to see a big game with ACTUAL DLC I think some people will be in utter shock to see a game with DLC that isn't maps/guns/cosmetics Ahh The days when DLC was actually fucking worth buying Rockstar and Bethesda remember
I honestly think people have a bias towards Fallout 3 because it's how they were introduced to the series (actually that should be fairly obvious). [editline]9th January 2013[/editline]
Its gonna be fantastic to see a big game with ACTUAL DLC I think some people will be in utter shock to see a game with DLC that isn't maps/guns/cosmetics Ahh The days when DLC was actually fucking worth buying Rockstar and Bethesda remember
Remember when Beth said their DLC was going to be like expansion packs in Skyrim? Me neither.
I love playing Skyrim and not being able to kill some NPCs. Maybe Bethesda will go all out in Fallout 4 and not allow any npcs to die at all. Sounds like fun
hearthfire best dlc 2012 no but dawnguard was pretty big
It added around two dungeons, two castles, and mostly empty landscape. Dragonborn by far would be at least considering "pretty big"
it's better than most dlc these days
I loved New Vegas, but Old World Blues is overrated By the end I was yearning to get back to the Mojave Wasteland
I personally find Dead Money my favorite, but everyone complains about it being hard.
i have mixed feelings with dead money it had great characters but the atmosphere didn't sit right with me, and it was pretty boring
Lonesome Road was still easily my favorite. And Honest Hearts was just boring outside of Graham.
i have mixed feelings with dead money it had great characters but the atmosphere didn't sit right with me, and it was pretty boring
Dead Money was good in some respects, but it basically tried to force a survival horror template onto Fallout, and it only semi-worked, although the writing wasn't too bad. I'd love Obsidian to do the next game, but since they're working on Wasteland that's not likely to happen. On a rather geeky note, isn't MIT and the area around it part of that commonwealth that was mentioned in FO3? I guess that could be pretty interesting.
Lonesome Road was still easily my favorite. And Honest Hearts was just boring outside of Graham.
i think you can safely say that all FO:NV DLCs were awesome and worth the money either way
