If the kids aren't forced, I don't see the problem. It's a sport, if they want to fight, let them.
The first rule of eight-year-old fight club is that there shouldn't be an eight-year-old fight club.
If the kids know what they're getting into and want to go into it willfully, why stop them? They know the consequences of getting into a sport.
The kid is crying because he didn't tap out to an armbar soon enough. Mainly he's fault. If you don't tap out to a submission, it will hurt, that is why its called a submission.

Yes because other sports are so much safer? Hell, a kid in my team got half his finger cut off playing (American) football. All sports come with a chance of injuries and you just have to accept that. This is actually safer since their is a paramedic standing right their if something does go wrong.
No wait, did the ref not stop it when he tapped? I can't really see
Tons of my friends are into MMA and wrestling like that, when you tap out it's over. It's safe and it's fine, but kids this young? Not sure if that should be going on. Eight and nine, emotions could get in the way.
this story loses a bit of it's weight when you really think about how strong a fucking nine year old is
Hot.

Shit, wrong thread, but it's still fitting.

yeah you'd like the thought of young children in cages wouldn't you
one of the kids was in tears omG
Made me think of this video
I have no problem with this, it's just mixed martial arts fighting; but I'm disgusted how majority of the spectators were men who were probably drunk. It should only be done in controlled environments where people like parents can watch them, and see if it's a safe environment to fight in. The fact that there were drunk men there is appalling.

Also, the fighting had "No Jabbing" (Kicking/Punching) as a rule, the only thing that wasn't that safe was the hard floor.
It's mutual combat, these kids are not being forced to fight. Plus MMA is good for kids, it teaches them control, discipline and traits deemed good. I don't see anything wrong with it, maybe take some extra precautions for safety due to their age. Other then that, not a big deal.
Kids play football (American and both European) and I've seen more injuries from American football then MMA tbh. I got friends who tore muscles, broke bones and got concussions from football (american). At the same time I got some friends who have done MMA and they hardly face any injuries like that.
