Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 not to be released in west, concerned about sparking a "women in gaming" back

I was actually looking forward to this game, mainly because of the VR support. Oh well, good thing there's no region lock on PS4
I just realized, they chose not to release this game to avoid backlash, but by doing so they've now created perhaps an even bigger backlash on the internet.
Not really considering Nintendo of America actually had censorship as their policy during the 80's and 90's
The NES version of Maniac Mansion was heavily censored because of NoA for example: http://www.crockford.com/wrrrld/maniac.html
I guess what I'm trying to say is while not great censorship isn't exactly a new policy when it comes to NoA.
Very cool read, by the way. Those are some ridiculous changes.
Back when details started coming out tecmo said that it would come if the demand was there (they even specifically mentioned creating an "adjusted" western version). In 3 months that changed to " you aren't getting the game because of political correctness "
Sound to me like a marketing ploy to make the demand go up for them to release that version. People want what they can't get ,and I'm sure drumming up controversy is helping them in that regard

Hell I remembered petition going up for this game to come to the west 3 months ago. Have none of you even followed this game??? This is looking to be the worst doa extreme game regardless but I guess that's besides the point
So this is absolutely going to fall on deaf ears but the game was NEVER in development to be released in the west, from announcement onward it was asia exclusive

IMO they should release it everywhere. If you want to play it you can buy it, if not you can ignore it. Let the market decide how well it does. Hell putting it up as a digital only game costs practically nothing so it can only result in a net gain.

Whatever, man, you know deep down it was all because of the sex-negative sjws and censorship. Thank you for posting this.

Feminists regularly create shitstorms that end in doxxing and harassment. A radical section of that movement has created a culture of fear around the topic of sexuality and darker humor.
Pillars of Eternities "transphobic" joke, Shirtgate, etc.

Thank the world for Miek Russ
The terrorists have won.
I think I'll buy it in a few weeks from play-asia.
No one is burning copies of Xtreme 3, they're not even being sold. This isn't censorship at all.
Except it is being sold... just not outside of Asia due to fear of backlash from a certain group of people who are afraid of sexy video game women.
I can't believe people can't handle women in gaming. We've seriously gone full circle.

I wasn't even asking about any of this. Did you mean to quote me?

Seriously though, why would a publisher be afraid of being branded sexist because of a video game they release? There has to be other reasons for why they're not releasing this game, like Sterling say if you think it's cause of some bloggers you have to be out of your mind (unless I'm the one out of my mind which may be the case).

Don't listen to Jim Sterling.
He knows he has shit the bed and is doing everything he can to reduce his original SJW statement to it's most basic meaning in order to save his ego.
For him to admitt that he was wrong Anita would have to literally kill you and pry the videogames from your cold dead fingers.

Okay but I still don't get it, most japanese publishers don't care and considering the stuff publishers tend to pull off, it doesn't seem like they particularily care about what minorities think of them.
I am so confused as to what that boycott is about,.
christ, not following this shit too closely but

This franchise is not a heavyweight when it comes to sales. The last game sold around 250k copies if word on the street is to be believed.
The publisher could be afraid that even a minor controversy could have a noticable impact on sales.
But nobody really knows at this point, all we have to go on at the moment is what the publisher said.
They're getting some hardcore publicity from this

play asia said doa3's self-censorship choice was due to "SJW nonsense"
SJW's claim they will boycott a site they never bought from, others threatened to ruin play asia's ties with game industry leaders, etc.
ended up giving them 3000 twitter followers in 24 hours (9k to 12k), doing the direct opposite of what they wanted to happen.
