There's a difference between being known as the creepy-cool uncle who slipped you Playboy magazines while your parents weren't looking as a kid and being known as the physical embodiment of hatred against women.
Go read those headlines on the previous page again. They want to make cheesecake, and are being painted as an evil that has to be stopped.
Yeah I've read those headlines, that's all they are though headlines of articles about people being butthurt about their series... They're not affecting sales...

If you don't think that coordinated demonization of a series negatively affects the series and it's parent company I don't know what you think could.
wheel skeletons and almost all the weapons it seems like
just seems weird cause while all of miyazaki's games have references to berserk demons souls is the one that probably takes the most from it
dark souls has a very unique tone and design which I would say is easily distinguished from berserk

It might not necessarily just be about game sales. It could affect business dealings outside of that.

I definitely think that could affect the series, but just not on this scale :v:

Which is what I'm thinking, I don't think that they actually care that some people think they're sexist.
I'm going to spell this out nice and simple:
People are human.
People react negatively to being called a festering, pustulent blight on the ass of civilization that everyone will be better off for when it's removed. That they're not even doing bad things or making bad choices; they are the taint. They will like it even less if entire branches of media gang up to repeatedly and persistently tell everyone in earshot how horrible and irredeemable they are.
But it's all okay if they still make money, right? No, because contrary to what some may tell you not all publicity is good publicity.
Did you know that there is one book by Stephen King that has not been republished since around the eighties? It's called Rage, and it's about a kid who snaps and goes on a school shooting. When shit like Columbine started going down in real life, and the media started searching for sacrificial lambs to blame it all on, King publicly took the book out of production and never allowed it to be printed again rather than risk being labeled a school shooting enabler.
This man has asked doctors if a human could physically swallow a live cat for the purposes of a story, then wrote and published that story. This man has written about drowning in outhouse shit, child orgies, and how to smuggle homemade bombs into packed concerts with wheelchairs. And he's so popular and famous that if he was ever to republish Rage everyone and their mother would be tumbling over each other to throw money at him for copies of his resurrected "lost" book. But he hasn't. And he never will. The possibility of having that brand burned into him by the media scared him off from that so hard that he has banished one of his works to the ether, never to return.
And this is one of the most famous horror writers ever. His entire job is to be horrifying. These guys wanted to make niche games with bouncy boobs.

Yeah that's understandable, however being called Sexist and Misogynistic by a small (but large) group of people is nothing comparable to being called a School Shooting Enabler.
A whole group of people would believe it as we humans, tend the latch onto the nearest thing to blame, just like you said. So if Stephen King, a well known writer, beloved by millions of people all over the world, was to release a book like that during these past couple of years, then yes, he has every right to feel scared and not release it.
But this is a game where you play as girls, on a beach.
You can go down to the nearest beach and see pretty much that.
Them not releasing DOAX3 is because of a small (but large) group of people. If Stephen King had something like that happen to him, I bet he would just laugh and release it anyway, because it's a small group of people.
Once they use this publicity to drum up support for bringing the game over from certain groups, how much do you want to bet they'll magically change their mind and start selling it?
Wouldn't be the first time something was marketed as The X that Y doesn't want you to see!
It's genius. They don't actually have to do anything, or face any backlash whatsoever. They can just pretend that backlash would exist, watch as people gobble up the outrage, and scope out how many potential customers there'll be for their game that will probably be shit, like the last one.
that they're doing this for publicity because they easily could have the knowledge (with any amount of research) that even saying sjw will put them in the spotlight
i think you could liken it to "pulling a hatred" or "pulling a gta" replacing violence with sex
At first I thought people were just being shitty to them for not localising it or even mentioning SJW, but then I see responses like this and it's clear everyone's being shitty in this situation.
They didn't have to play the same game of crying misogyny or sjw for attention, they just through they could stir things up and be asshats for a few more sales.

To a Japanese developer who lives and works primarily in Japan, that small group of people might seem much larger than it actually is.

But there IS backlash, such as people who have media connections threatening to blacklist the company over political views. The counter-shitposting is the only defense mechanism people have against the professional whiners on social media who HAVE pressured companies in the past into complying, remember the Lionhead Studios thing on International Cleavage Day or whatever it was, or the batgirl cover thing?
People need to be openly vocal, if only to convince publishers/developers and everybody else that arsehole people on social media don't represent the majority of their audience.
Besides, if arseholes on twitter see that all their frivolous accusations and attempts at blacklisting and causing people to lose their jobs does nothing but make the company they're attacking more successful, then they'd probably stop harassing people entirely. So the company makes more money, we get to laugh at arseholes and the arseholes can get stuffed. Not to mention, it shows developers and publishers that not self-censoring will make them more money in the long run and in doing so they can provide us with a greater variety of games and stories. It's a win/win for everybody.
Even better, if people stopped spewing bile at companies who make games or design decisions they don't like, then there would be nothing for people to complain about and the 'outrage' would die out and we could have a fair and balanced discussion.
We can still discuss things like representation of women in video games, we just won't have people screaming and yelling and threatening other people and companies for not agreeing with them. Again, it's a win/win for everybody.
That's not going to happen though because places like Kotaku don't actually care about things like sexism in video games and they don't want to have a dialogue, they're only reporting on this stuff and manufacturing outrage to make money.

Playasia is just a distributor and has nothing to do with the decisions of the dev company, at this point they're just milking this situation since they're going to be providing an english version for import of the game if it's not sold locally.

The Playasia twitter guy is doing exactly what everyone should be doing everytime sjw's starts stirring shit up.
Mock them, laugh at them, show them how pointless and retarded their pathetic temper tatrums are, and do not give in to whatever their demands are.

I'm not talking as much about Koei Tecmo's decision as how everyone is treating it, and Playasia milking the situation is just as shitty as journalists milking the misogyny angle.

They could be fucking professionals. There's a difference between mockery and being the antagonist they desperately crave and while you're sinking to their levels of calling everyone sjws and shitposting incessantly then you're just playing their game.

It's the only way to deal with them. You're dealing with people who believe they can never be wrong and apply all sorts of truisms and ad-hoc rationalizations all the while accusing you of anything from being a misogynist to eating babies (all because you disagree with their opinion on video games on the internet). They will barrage you with accusations, harass you and call their friends in to do the same.
You cannot apply logic or attempt to reason with them, merely disagreeing with them in any way makes you a shitstain on the bottom of their boot heel. You can't apologize or compromise either, if you give them an inch they'll start making demands of you and will never stop until you can't comply after which they will start assaulting you again.
The only way to deal with a bully like this is to make fun of them, when you do that they lose all their power.

Gonna give the journalists threatening them a free pass? Being offended doesn't entitle you to anything, if anything making a big deal out of it and threatening people entitles you to mockery.

And I say again, you do not mock them by sinking to their level. Follow their exact behaviour of stirring people up, dismissing anything said against you, and lowering the discourse to image macros, and all you've done is turn it into a shitfight between two cliques.
Playasia didn't have to stir things up, they could've easily advertised how they were offering the game regardless of it bring brought over, but they decided to play the sjw angle because it brings in more clicks, just like all the journalists writing about it.

I made clear from the start that everyone was being shits in this matter. I only focus on Playasia's part because it's expected that games journalists will be shit, they on the other hand consciously chose to dive into this clusterfuck.
Oh god my sides.

But guys, vocal minorities don't do anything!
But guys, vocal minorities don't do anything!
I don't get people who say that. The keyword is vocal. Vocal people usually have more influence than silent ones, even if the numbers are not evenly matched.
Bayonetta has more going for it than kick-boobies. We're talking about mario party mini games with anime girls.
And why is mario party mini games with bikini girls something consumers shouldn't be able to get if they want it? It's stupid.

Play-Asia isn't threatening to destroy anybody with their influence. They're just mocking people.
As a trans person who sometimes wants to look like a pretty girl in a bikini in video games, it seems a little backwards that less games that allow me to do that are to come out in the name of feminism.
Nevermind how men are presented in video games. Contribution lords who take care of EVERYTHING and are the epitome of physical fitness.
we can have games where you can kill and torture innocent people + blow their guts apart in great detail but we can't have games about bikini ladies participating in recreational volleyball
we can have games where you can kill and torture innocent people + blow their guts apart in great detail but we can't have games about bikini ladies participating in recreational volleyball
Quite a few of the people that believe that sexualized women in games cause sexism also subscribe to the idea that games cause violence.
Tumblr is going full on boycott over playasia
Quite clearly we need to ban breasts and asses if we're going to stop this ravenous sexism. It's clear that clothing is the problem so all's agree that this:
[t]http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41wsKv6EXXL._UL1500_.jpg[/t]
is how all humans must dress 24/7 if we are to remove sexism.
Tumblr is going full on boycott over playasia
So?
Implying that the people on tumblr making a fuss over this kind of shit would've bought games from playasia in the first place.

I'm sure that is still bad cause you can see their eyes. Men oppress women by saying you have beautiful eyes.
