Next governor will probably be a republican but we'll probably go back to democrats soon after. The state is expected to go blue in about 20 years. If that's the case, the 3-governor Republican dominance (assuming the next governor is also republican) won't even come close to the Democrats 104 years of rule after the Civil War. But we're definitely getting more and more liberal as time goes by, regardless of what party is in office.

hey i was born there :(
and lived there for the first 5 years of my life. was fun tbh
I really love the way this guy worded it, he basically said that there is no real reason whatsoever to ban same-sex marriage

We never really were an ULTRA conservative state you know, kind of a moderate conservative.
I cant even look at most of my relatives the same anymore. As a kid you didn't know anything about politics. I hung on on my grandpa because he refereed to Obama as a socialist. Not just raging but most of the time people aren't even willing to listen to reason.
ya my dad completely blames his job loss on obama and just goes nuts whenever anyone mentions him, maybe his first job was the recession's fault but he has made some poor decisions in the last 4 years himself he's left perfectly stable jobs because he still thinks he should be paid more, and he's gotten himself shit on by at 2 millionares already and is always taken advantage of in every job hes had and meanwhile he still can't come to terms with his age or that he should do stuff to better himself instead of killing himself at every fucking job working 15 hours a day, then being on his phone banging out emails the remaining 9 hours, my brother is 25 and lives at home and acts even worse, he works a minimum wage job and gets shit on by his boss and yet obama care kept him on our insurance till now which is a godsend, but he still fucking goes on and on about how rush limbaw is a god and everything he says is right and how the democrats are the scum of the earth and obama's citizenship and so much shit i just can't really stand to even talk politics with them because they are both so fucking clueless
like he thinks there is some top secret conspiracy about the u.s. staying in afghanistan to invade pakistan, and yet he won't believe me when i point out that we already ARE in pakistan launching drones there, nor does he even understand what the afghanistan election means to the future of the country there, he just spouts dribble about what rush fucking limbaw a 60+ year old fat fuck in florida says

just a bit of a rant, but really there are too many people involving themselves in things they don't understand.
politicans don't help either, fanning the flames of ignorance to help their carers

All gay people have horns because the gays are Satan.
If Texas can do this what is up Arizonas ass?
That bill was veto'd today
Not one citizen voted on it being there
It doesn't reflect Arizona, just stupid policy makers

What about North or South Dakota? They always struck me as some hill-billy country states.
i dont understand why everyone thinks texas is the biggest backwards shithole in america or something
(hint: it's actually alabama)
Did you know that there's a zero tolerance law for drugs in Alabama (or so I've heard)? Getting caught with a small roach or even a single tiny bit of weed is a felony. I hope it's not true but that's why I would never live there, besides the fact that it's Alabama.

It's weird because I've lived in Texas for a good chunk of my life and I've only come across ultra conservative Texans twice. Urban Texas has always been extremely liberal due to all the cities doing trade and all those colleges.
I don't really get the stereotype to be honest, all the white, conservative Texans I've met also tend to be extremely nice people.
