God dammit, I hope the GOP falls apart soon [editline]09:16PM[/editline]
Looks like some sort of Jehovah's Witnesses family traveling band. The kind you don't want knocking on your door.
You mean there's a kind you do want knocking on your door?
:gonk: OP i love your news threads
I never knew about him until now but after reading the OP, I like em!
Why do I still live in Arkansas?
I never knew about him until now but after reading the OP, I like em!
you like bigots?

I'm pretty sure he's being sarcastic, if he isn't... Poor soul.
I never knew about him until now but after reading the OP, I like em!
Yeah, he's useful for when you forgot what children are
He would allow an atheist president? Oh, Mr. Huckabee, you're soo risque! :allears:
I wasn't being sarcastic. Seems like he has the child in mind over the rights of gays. I'm OK with that. Says he'd be OK with an Atheist in office over a lying religious person. I'm really just not for or against gay rights, I could care less.
[release]In what may come as a surprise for some, Huckabee agreed that an atheist could be fit to serve as president. “I’d rather have an honest atheist than a dishonest religious person,” he said. “It’s better to have a person who says, ‘Look, I just don’t believe, and that’s where my honest position happens to be,’” he said. “I’m frankly more OK with that than a person who says, ‘Oh, I am very much a Christian. I very much love God.’ And then they live as if they are atheists, as if they have no moral groundings at all. That’s more troubling.”[/release] Surprisingly, I agree with this. However, I think he meant it mainly as a shot towards Obama. [release]“I think it’s nice if a person believes in God,” Huckabee said. “I’d hate to think somebody was making decisions who thought that he couldn’t be higher than himself.”[/release] And then I lost all hope.
That line is very odd and made no sense to me. “I think it’s nice if a person believes in God,” Huckabee said. “I’d hate to think somebody was making decisions who thought that he couldn’t be higher than himself.” I'd hope that he was talking about a person not making decisions for their own good and thinking about the people first and foremost, but I'd really just be taking a swipe in thin air.
Show me a study that proves children raised by gay parents end up worse off
So you think we should subject a bunch of kids to a study and see how it turns out?
So you think we should subject a bunch of kids to a study and see how it turns out?
wow you are seriously too ignorant to hold a real opinion about anything. As far as gay rights, what about marriage? They're being kept from the benefits of marriage based on religious politicians forcing bullshit around. You're apathetic that people's lives are ruined because of a decision based on religious morals, not the welfare of people?
So you think we should subject a bunch of kids to a study and see how it turns out?
Fun fact: studies have already shown that they turn out just fine.
So you'd rather have kids live in shitty orphanages than with kind, loving, wanting parents?
I didn't realize that was their only choice. I would rather have the children live with the gay couple then live in the ditch, yes. So we pick and choose. I would say for sure that gays have been picked to be included. Furrys are still in the waiting line.
I didn't realize that was their only choice. I would rather have the children live with the gay couple then live in the ditch, yes.
I said nothing about a gay couple, just a couple that wants to adopt. The amount of couples both willing and legible to adopt would probably go down fairly drastically were gays barred from the practice, though. I'd go cite a study, but I'm sure someone else is, or will be, on it, and I'm admittedly lazy
[editline]01:12AM[/editline] As Mike had stated in the OP, everyone wants equal rights but if we did that we would have chaos. Did you just fucking say homosexuality and furry are the same fucking thing?
What makes me most angry about this is that he thinks that atheists don't have any morals.

We should go back to oppressing blacks, ban immigrants, and put women back in the home where the belong. Because those got so out of hand.

I'm not for backing up the acceptance train.
Social acceptance happens over time. I'm not for backing up the acceptance train.
So you're saying we should be passive about this, and let it happen. There's no time like the present, and I don't see how giving gays equal rights is going to disrupt the nation. Race rights was thousands of times more intense than this.
So you're saying we should be passive about this, and let it happen. Change doesn't happen unless people actively fight for it. If you just sit by and wait for social acceptance to just happen, you're going to be waiting for one hell of a long time. Infact, what you're doing by sitting idly by is letting yourself be defeated, and cowing yourself to an unjust society. The time is now, because tomorrow becomes tomorrow, becomes tomorrow, becomes tomorrow, and gays will never be equal because we're just waiting for it to instantaneously happen.

Work, not fight, to gain support from those that will support your cause. Bashing those that are not ready to accept does not help your cause.
Fun Fact: Mike Huckabee's son possibly tortured a dog. Note that this is probably a rumor but still funny. http://www.snopes.com/politics/huckabee/dog.asp
I never knew about him until now but after reading the OP, I like em!
He knows what it's like to have a kid.

Same goes for this. You're not going to get universal support for something, but you don't need to.
