Last time I checked, you guys couldn't even bloody teach biology correctly in the States.
You people seem to forget how hard it is to get into college in Europe. In England you have A Levels to get in, and in Germany come 5th grade they put you in one of 3 schools, with only the top one (maybe the second level too, don't know honestly) going to college. In America, and Canada I assume as well, high school doesn't affect going to college much. It may decide which college you go to, but if I pass through High School .01 GPA above the fail limit, I can guarantee you at least one college would take me, even if it's a joke.
And yeah, this isn't about quality, but quantity.

the US is so incredibly big that every single part of it has its own institution and those institutions can stay in place for a very long time.
for a lot of people who grow up the only source of information they have is that small religious institution which people keep really close by and away from outsiders.
it's not like Europe where it's all tight-nit and next to each other. breaking institutions in the UK was very simple.

Although this graph probably isn't as correct as article in thisispain's link, because they only asked ~1000 per country and there are huge differences in the populations of these countries.
Probably would have been more correct if they asked the same percentage per country, but in my opinion it still shows that there are more people in the USA who believe it is false.
4th? Seriously? Well with the way the US is treating teachers and over using state testing lately, the US will probably drop painfully in the future.

And [url]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Technion_-_Israel_Institute_of_Technology[/url] has some international prestige with advancements and so forth, their education is not that bad. Though their ranking in the article is abnormally high. . .
