Why is it that every time America is in the Top 10 of anything, people complain?
When they are in the top 10 of something good, other countries that are lower on the list of USA complain.
When they are in the top 10 of something bad, the USA complains.
Either way you are going to get people complaining about the order of the list.
Only about three quarters of the population have finished high school here so that's a pretty high figure for Australia
I bet they're counting TAFE and other trade qualifications as part of post secondary education
Heooo damn boy we dumbfuck americans be scritchin are heds at this here sciencey hoojamimmy

Well, TAFE can give you the same qualifications as university in a lot of it's courses. I technically have a Bachelor's degree from a Cert III course that I completed in year 11.
Canada has only 100 people?
Yeah. Canadian Steve holds about 50% of us, though.

What?
Do you mean you have a component of a bachelor's degree, right, not the whole thing?
For Americans, our TAFE system is a fair bit like community college, where you get certificates for courses completed, and then after the fourth level the next step is a diploma, and then an advanced diploma. An advanced diploma is about the same as an associate degree in the States.
I'm surprised the US is even on that list.
I'm surprised the US is even on that list.
Didn't read.
All my family dropped out of school. And we're not poor. Just thought i'd throw that out there.
Suck it, Australia :v:
Suck it, Australia :v:
I'd take $10,000 more GDP per capita than a 3% increase in post secondary qualifications.
Australia and NZ are tied in the Education Index

Yeah. I was able to apply for advanced standing when I applied for my uni course because I've completed a years worth of a 3 year course already.
Decided to do the full three years since the TAFE course was mainly hands on experience and uni is more has a lot of lectures and stuff about it.

theyjelly
It shocks me how so many literary believes the stereotype that Americans are dumb.
What really gets me is that a pretty good amount of the people that believe it are the Americans themselves. :v:
I expected Finland and Japan to be on this list.
This survey seems to go more of how much of the population has gone through school, and gone to secondary schools, such as a college and how much money is spent on schools. Not by how smart the population is otherwise japan china and Korea would probably be in the top 5.

No way in hell China would be in the top 5. China does have a lot of smart people and a few good schools, don't get me wrong, but there is an overwhelming majority of the population (especially in mainland China and in rural areas) that are completely uneducated.
Fuck yeah... I live there. And am going to uni next year :DDDDDDDD
In Canada it is easy to get into college, schools get free Wifi in my province.
This, I'm a high school drop out so I probably just made that drop by 1%.
I think your avatar speaks for your personality. Why would you drop out of free education?

Sucks for you.. missed out.
As an American citizen, I don't get how the US is on the list. I guess you can't correlate education and how smart someone is anymore. Actually you shouldn't ever do that. These countries are the most educated but not necessarily the smartest.
It shocks me how so many literary believes the stereotype that Americans are dumb.
Did you mean literally?
And there's some huge evidence that Americans tend to be dumb, on average. Look at the voting population.
I would say the same about Australia, so don't feel unfairly discriminated against guys.
The amount of "WTF AMERICA IS 4TH OMFG!!!" going on tells me people buy into stereotyping a lot more than they should.
I somehow doubt this list has correct information.
Why is it so hard to believe the U.S. has a good educational system?
because every single american is stupid and fat, remember?
Why is it so hard to believe the U.S. has a good educational system?
Not in comparison with Canada.

Also I'm Canadian. The only difference in school quality (once you get above grade school, as the crippling weight of the U.S. population and language barriers weighs them down) is that we have to pay less, although U.S. smarties get LOTS in the way of scholarships unless you're applying to super ivy league schools or something
