Honestly the one that works for me best is IE.
Given that I like the UI of Firefox better though, I use it. I can take a few hiccups/freezing here and there for useability.

Generally for me it starts taking around 800MB at around midnight if I've had it on since 8AM that day.
Still firefox crashes for me constantly. I would move to chrome but I just can't get to like the layout.
I have chrome open with 9 tabs and it's using 900mb of ram, I think this is starting to get worse than firefox.

Chances are if you have 8GB of RAM and your browser is using a tenth of that you aren't doing anything else that will take up the other 90%
chrome is terrible
Honestly, firefox may take a while to get up, but it goes like the wind and as smooth as silk no matter the number of tabs once it's going.
