Chrome has a notable lack of Black Addon support, otherwise people seem to be porting most of the popular addons to Chrome these days. Still prefer FF for the obscure but immensely useful addons that don't seem to be worth Chrome-porting to their developers.
You can add your own userscripts to Chrome, it's just rather tedious.
Pretty much the only reason i'm still sticking with firefox is the support to middleclick anything
Also, I tried FF a few weeks ago, its interface was very awkward to me. I prefer Chrome's interface.
Pretty much the only reason i'm still sticking with firefox is the support to middleclick anything
Does any other browser work like that, I mean you can middle click "view image" and open it in a new tab. Its pretty neat but I haven't ever actually tried it in any other browser.
Meh, I never liked Firefox. Even back before the Chrome days, I preferred to use IE6 over it because I couldn't stand the interface. Nowadays, I'm a bona-fide Chrome fan and I'll stay that way. In any case, Webkit is my favorite rendering method, so yeah. And I really dig Chrome's minimalism. Plus Firefox always seemed kinda snooty to me.
Firefox doesn't like me having 25-30 tabs open, even though i have 10GB of RAM Chrome only broke itself once in the past couple years, some bug with flash
Firefox doesn't like me having 25-30 tabs open, even though i have 10GB of RAM Chrome only broke itself once in the past couple years, some bug with flash
why do you need to have 30 fucking tabs open
why do you need to have 30 fucking tabs open
porn
Chrome's interface is so perfect that I can't leave. It's minimalistic enough to be non-cluttery, but it's not so minimalistic that you accidentally do things you didn't want to do.
How are people using so much memory?... I have only 140MB used with Chrome and 80 tabs open across 3 windows. Although having plugins set to not run unless allowed might have something to do with it.
Firefox doesn't like me having 25-30 tabs open, even though i have 10GB of RAM Chrome only broke itself once in the past couple years, some bug with flash
I have 39 tabs open right now and it's fine for me.
Also, I tried FF a few weeks ago, its interface was very awkward to me. I prefer Chrome's interface.
I have that same problem with Chrome over Firefox. But then other than a short (2-3 week) stint on Opera in 2008 where I couldn't open more than 2-3 tabs or so without having it crashed, I've been using Firefox for over 5 years now.
Ten tabs for firefox is using 670 ish MB (not counting flash which is using 130 ish MB) and I'm not light on add ons either.

Firefox doesn't like me having 25-30 tabs open, even though i have 10GB of RAM
This seems to really depend on the user. I have 5 tabs opened currently using 400mb of ram on Firefox. I opened another 10 random bookmarks and my usage only went up to 420mb. And this is with 24 addons installed as well. I've had well over a hundred open before and even then Firefox only used a little over a gigabyte of ram.
porn
I open a lot of things in new tabs then go through them Mostly news but porn too
How is Chrome with the whole "open a second tab and Chrome shits itself" thing?
Nearly 2gb of memory usage but still runs fine with a billion tabs open
Does any other browser work like that, I mean you can middle click "view image" and open it in a new tab. Its pretty neat but I haven't ever actually tried it in any other browser.
Middle clicking on a link which has a javascript executing bypasses it in firefox
How is FF with the whole "Leave a tab open and it gradually eats more ram" thing?
Are you still on a pentium 4 with 512mb or rams?? poor you!!
200 tabs, 880MB. Still, I've got 16GB to go so Firefox can use a few gigs if it really wants to. Not that is seems to do that. [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/g287cIN.png[/thumb]
Chrome is still better.
not according to the op it isn't Does Firefox use less memory than chrome nowadays? I always remember Firefox being a massive memory hog but chrome eats ram for breakfast even more. Might make the switch actually, mobile Firefox is way better than mobile chrome so maybe it's true of the desktop version too [editline]2nd July 2013[/editline]
Meh, I never liked Firefox. Firefox is the Java of browsers. Since i noticed Firefox took huge amounts of ram i switched to Chrome and have never been more happy.
Everyone, everyone, we don't need to argue about this. Let's all just calm down and swear fealty to the PS3 browser master race.
Firefox is the Java of browsers. Chrome does however do a better job of unloading the memory when the tabs are closed, but the memory usage while tabs are open is far more important. You can always restart a browser if there are memory leaks.
Sparkbrowser beats everything
CTRL+Tabbed through all my tabs to load them. Used the Tab groups window to stop all youtube videos that also got loaded. I'm okay with this. Even then I think it's just a matter of preference and I prefer Firefox myself. [editline]2nd July 2013[/editline] Yes I've been playing Arma 3.
i still think internet explorer is very good....
I still love [sp] IE..... [/sp]
It's more down to the system, I've seen people complain about Firefox crashing constantly, and it turns out that some AV they installed years before hooked into the IP stack with a buggy module, that worked fine for everything but Firefox, etc. I can only go by my system, but I watch what I install and run with the bare minimum that I need, and Firefox basically never crashes on me (maybe once a year) and uses barely any memory (Using 400MB when I have 16GB installed barely registers), even with loads of tabs open (But of course that goes for any browser on my system, IE runs fine since it never loads any plugins but Flash, etc.)
Oddly despite having issues with Comodo blocking anything and everything it can get its hands on, even Windows system files at times, I've never once had an issue with it not liking Firefox. And I've also got 16GB of ram. I don't really mind if Firefox uses a full gigabyte for a hundred tabs, it's not going to negatively affect me basically at all. The only reason I even have more than 8GB is for things such as 3ds Max. (3ds Max tends to use 2-4GB, Photoshop 1-2GB.) Only issue I ever have with Firefox is entirely Flash related because Flash has been a serious pile of garbage on Firefox for at least a year and a half for me. (The only thing that ever helps that is reinstalling Flash which works for only a few weeks.)
Does chrome have smoothscrolling yet?
Firefox doesn't like me having 25-30 tabs open, even though i have 10GB of RAM Chrome only broke itself once in the past couple years, some bug with flash
You should check what plugins and addins you have in Firefox, yesterday I closed 104 tabs in one window and still had god knows how many open in others. All with no lag and Firefox using <1gb of ram. [editline]2nd July 2013[/editline]
Firefox is the Java of browsers. Its there to be used..
