People who are biologically female are typically assigned the female gender at birth. I think that "assigned x at birth" is a phrase that sounds kinda bad but when used to refer to a person who later identifies as transgendered it's sensible. Otherwise, for you and me who identify as our genitals would imply, it'd only be superfluous and pretentious
"Born female" could've worked
I wish my parents respected my exploration of identity at 3. I'd be a T-Rex right now. Or at least some sort of wild man living on an island off of Costa Rica. Of course that's not realistic... Unlike a name change, style changes, label changes, medical programs if needed. Maybe if I was born in the right future period, I'd be offered a solution. My 3 year old mind would be put into a computer simulation of a Cretaceous period fantasy land. I would have been happiest then (I don't know what tense to use... future/past?). I would have chosen a life like that in heartbeat. Of course I'd be only 3. But if I'm going to become a dinosaur till my minds end... it'd probably be best done early in life.
In the womb you can be either male or female. Sometimes, things screw up, and you get a person with a physically female/male brain in a male/female body. You cannot be a dinosaur. You can never have a physically dinosaur brain in a human body. Get the fuck out with your ridiculous, hateful, and ignorant "argument" you stole from South Park.
"Born female" could've worked
"Born female" is kinda inaccurate. You're only "born" male or female in the sense of sex. In the sense of gender though, you're a genderless blob, one who can't even comprehend the idea of gender, until someone puts pink or blue clothes on you.
seriously?
I think it's like that episode from House MD where the same shit happened to a boy who liked girly stuff, he had some sort of disorder which made him have both sets of chromosomes for male and female. Reasiggned to be strictly a boy only to end up having problems from periods, changed to a girl.
"Born female" is kinda inaccurate. You're only "born" male or female in the sense of sex. Being a boy/man or a girl/woman is gender.

You're born of one sex and that's the sex that you are. You may identify as a man if you're a female or a woman if male, but that doesn't make you not a female or male biologically. If you guys insist that people learn and use these terms to promote this stuff, the least you could do is be clear and consistent when using it.
Fun fact: Terms like 'assigned female at birth' are used because, if we just said 'biologically female', people would go "Oh, well she's just a girl, then?" Fun fact: This shit doesn't happen because trans people want to be special snowflakes, it happens because transphobes will pick away at the tiniest things to try and 'prove' that somebody's gender is wholly determined by their sex. Fun fact: If (some, dickish) cis people stopped being outrageous fucknuggets, we wouldn't have to 'make up' new words, as if inventing new vocabulary were even a bad thing in the first place.
I don't see how constantly changing the meaning and methods of use for the words you're making up to explain controversial concepts to people is going to help get them and or keep them on your side. Your goal is education on the issue, I assume, so changing the definition/usage of the vocabulary half way through is terrible practice.

I'm fed up of the negative reputation that 'cis' people have on the internet purely for being 'cis'.

Gender identity is hard wired at birth and can't be changed. Gender roles are what determine girls like pink and wear skirts and stuff which are social constructs.

Cis basically just means "the same", it's been used in medical and scientific fields for ages, it has zero negative connontations assuming you're not some nut. Saying that someone is assigned female at birth is not negative or accusational. It's literally just saying "This person was assigned female at their birth, but has since chosen otherwise".
Hahah what the fuck is wrong with people these days
But "female" isn't the gender that can be changed, that's the sex, which always stays the same even if you're trans
Not exactly. Your sex stays the same unless you get SRS in which case you're physically the other sex now, so if you were born male and got SRS then you would be female. I should re-word a sentence I said there. I don't mean to say someone can just say "I'm male now" if they were born female, I meant to say that they portray themselves as a man now despite their female sex.

Nobody "assigns" somebody a sex, that is something that biology (often unfortunately) does.
Hahah what the fuck is wrong with people these days
Yeah fuck these parents for respecting their son's wishes, what freaks, they should force him to be a girl even though he's not That's absolutely healthy and definitely can not and will not cause suicidal depression! I'm just saying that "assigned X at birth" is fine because that's just what happens. You're assigned your sex at birth because at birth, sex is all they have to go on to know your gender.
"What's your name?" "Shiloh." "No no, I mean your real name!" "My name is John." "...ok, 'John'."

Why are you so angry
not really, the idea of assigned female at birth kinda distances gender and sex intentionally, using terminology that shows that sex is not under control of the person themselves. they're not a female boy, they're a boy who was assigned female at birth. out of his control, yes, but really wherever or not someone was assigned the correct/incorrect sex at birth is not anyone else's business unless it comes down to medical purposes.
This really is not hard to understand, yet some people still find it difficult. Gender = Man/Woman Sex = Male/Female Gender is mental, determined by the brain. Sex is physical, determined by the genitalia you have.

What's wrong with the term?
