I'll be able to watch your stream on the UN website, and I can see the look on your face when your grandchildren, briefly visiting for the Winter Mammon Festival, are shocked and appalled at your opinions, which today you are so proud of and so ready to gloat about to others, but are now outdated hatred - a blight.
It's really weird how you refer to pro-trans opinions as "hatred" or that they'd be remembered as "hatred" when there's no group being hated. Pro-trans is about acceptance and inclusion of a minority, not the outdated beliefs current-generation grandparents have like "blacks go in the back of the bus" or "women shouldn't vote" or "gays are icky" or whatever. If anything whoever is actively against trans people having the same rights and opportunities as the rest of the population are the ones who'll be remembered that way.
I don't get why we need all these dumb names for things or why we care about some 3 year old wanting to have a name that's not retarded. Why does who you prefer to bone or what you wear even matter. Do we even need to call people trans? It's all just dumb to me because it seems like a none issue that gets blown up by people who want to feel self righteous about something. Like does it matter what other people think they are? It all seems like a fantasy to me. I think that if someone wants to be considered a girl or boy by other people they should go through with surgery otherwise I don't see why people need to make a big deal about it.
"all these names" it's like, one word for a gender, plus a set of pronouns to use when you're not sure. is that really that complex?
The rest of the medical/social terms are used much less than you'd think
Yeah because they usually freak out if you get whatever they want to be called wrong.
don't base your opinion of trans people off tumblr screencaps and twitter whiners a-la @vanguardvivian as they're a fucking disgrace, tia
I literally just said I support her/he, I said "it's" ironically because the post i was replying to said that.
Except the "it" in the post you quoted wasn't used to talk about a person, so I don't see how that's relevant?
Yeah because they usually freak out if you get whatever they want to be called wrong.
Can you not make such big generalisations?
You know what'll be great? In fifty years' time, when everyone has video cameras recording and broadcasting every part of our lives, and anonymity has been banned so we all know who everyone they meet is, so I'll be able to watch your stream on the UN website, and I can see the look on your face when your grandchildren, briefly visiting for the Winter Mammon Festival, are shocked and appalled at your opinions, which today you are so proud of and so ready to gloat about to others, but are now outdated hatred - a blight. I'll be able to look at the tears you're fighting back, in glorious 16K resolution. "Ha," I shall comment on your feed, "Ha ha ha". I may add an "ayy lmao", just so you remember this, so many decades into the future.
Why, I'll have so much fun, I may even be able to ignore the pain of the EU Contraband inspectors scraping my bowels to check for saturated fats.
in 50 years this will still be a really shitty post
This thread is like Logical Fallacies 101.
There is literally no reason to be against trans people other than that you don't understand them or you think that somehow you having to call them a different name is so much harder than them feeling dysphoria.
Cis is a latin term used in sciences. Tumblr hijacked it and started applying it to everyone who wasn't trans to fit their "us vs them" mentality. They were offended by the use of the word "trans" and wanted a counterpart word to hit back with.

I'm a bit late to the debate, oops.
"they're making it us vs them"
"THEY did all this evil stuff!!!"
do you not see what you're doing here
I think that trans people wish it were a non issue, but other people insist on responding to their transgenderism by misgendering them, abusing them, raping them, killing them, etc etc
I'd personally love nothing more than to be able to say to people, "Oh by the way, I'm a girl", and they'd be like "Cool." Unfortunately, life doesn't work that way, so rather than sit around and just accept it I do tend to speak out sometimes.

Here's something I'm assuming all of us have experienced a few times.
"Oh, I love your dog/cat/pet! He's so cute!"
"It's a girl, actually"
"Oh, okay. Aww, she's so cute! How old is she?"
People immediately correct themselves when a pet is called the wrong pronouns, so why can't they do the same thing with people? What do you even achieve when you deliberately misgender somebody besides a weird ego trip?

I've literally had a teacher at school to whom I'd never even spoken until I came out tell me that it's difficult to call me by my name because he's always known me as something else? I really can't imagine they talked about me that much in a 1500+ student school.
I wouldn't jump on the "good for him" bandwagon just yet. Give it a few years. She is only 8 years old and has 2 brothers which is bound to have influence. For all we know it could just be a temporary phase. Most kids have these.
Basically sure, let her use nicknames and different clothing and whichever. But I'd wait with confirming the kid as trans until at least some age of maturity, around 14-16.
For the record I'm of course not transphobic, I just think it's way early to make assumptions of her being transgender. Of course she should be supported from now and if this sticks even into her teenage years and adult years. But we don't know if it will. So don't throw around labels so carelessly.
In 50 years' time you'll probably all be using robot bodies or avatars to house your consciousness (I'll be dead, obviously). If so, then presumably you'll be able to choose whatever appearance you feel comfortable with.
