Yeah, the thinkpad series is well built and feels like it's going to last more then a few months. In an economy like this, people want something that's going to last.
lenovo killed the thinkpad
Yeah I actually do work for a company which provides Machines from Lenovo primarily for Europe but even beyond. A lot of customers seem to favor Windows 7 after all, but it's quite varying. Besides: While I usually dislike Windows 8 personally, it's quite neat to use with a tablet. I'm still planning on saving up and getting myself a T430 or maybe X230.
Boo! IBM 4 lyfe!
Lenovo is/were the OEM manufacturer for IBM. So it's same shit, just different brand.
Thinkpads are awesome. Solid quality for decent pricing. It's not really a surprise.
Everyone I know totally hates ThinkPads for some reason. I have a Thinkpad T430 which I got as a company laptop and its awesome, I have had no issues while using it with the laptop itself or with it running slow etc. I can also use it for 8-12 hours without charging, so really its ideal for watching movies, playing small indie/flash games or doing work while I'm on long train journeys.
I was looking at the Lenovos when buying a new laptop recently, Decided to buy a Toshiba Satellite P500 instead. Im surprised that not many people i see around buy Toshiba laptops, They seem to be well built and fast.

Crap roll cage, no more solid magnesium alloy chassis, cancerous 1360x768 16:9 panels, shit keyboard and there is a redesign coming up which has fucked the hinges up and made the ram/battery unserviceable.
Where I work, we all use Lenovo desktops, and we just recently migrated to windows 7 as well. Their desktops aren't something I would use at home, but for an office they're pretty much perfect.
I upgraded my SL510 to a 1600x900 display.
My point is sensible resolutions like 1440x900 came as standard before, and the 4:3 models went up to absolutely insane resolutions if you wanted them.

I love it to bits. [editline]13th April 2013[/editline] They actually have modified t61p's aboard the ISS :v:
My company uses Lenovo laptops and ThinkCentre AIO desktops and they are definitely a pleasure to work with.
IBM hasn't owned the ThinkPad since 2005.
I have an IBM Thinkpad from -95, I think. It still works
it has to do with teh fact that tech nerds jizz over thinkpads...
Yeah well there is a reason "tech nerds" "jizz over thinkpads".
I have Y500 full HD resolution. Feels good.
You could probably play tennis with my T61 and it won't give a shit.
IBM hasn't owned the ThinkPad since 2005.
I wish they still did.
Dell isn't that bad if you aren't looking for a laptop capable of gaming
One of my friends has a Dell laptop, apparantly that model is SO broken that he has to use it on power consuming settings and even then it has a chance of shutting down if it reaches near high load. (It cuts off at 110C) Worst thing is he's only one of hundreds who complained and they did not do anything about it. [editline]13th April 2013[/editline]
I wish they still did.
What's wrong with them? Also, suddenly entire Hardware & Software appeared :v:
Because this is much better
"Foxconn, a large contract manufacturer, were investigated by several of its customers including Apple and HP.[4] Foxconn is a major manufacturer that has catered to such companies as Apple, Dell, HP, Motorola, Nintendo, Nokia, and Sony.[4]" From the article that you linked to. [editline]13th April 2013[/editline] So if you want to not hurt anyone, you'll have to not buy a computer at all :(
I have a x201 and love it but I have never seen a worse computer screen in my life. Should have gotten one with an IPS panel. It's a shame how they kept changing a working formula. I don't want the 16:9 aspect ratio and the chiclet keyboard.
What do you mean by that?
name one PC model worth buying made by Dell, HP, or any OEM not named Lenovo or Apple
it has to do with teh fact that tech nerds jizz over thinkpads...
And they still work! Thinkpads are spill-resistant and cheap
