I think you're in the wrong bar, friend.
I think /b/ would be more your speed.

Are you referring to legalising things such as gay marriage as "forcing people to treat them special" or the other way around?
Because what you posted is rather vague. The government consists of a lot of people who support either side.

I think you mean /pol/

Why? So I can be counted as a homophobic that I'm not?
Are you referring to legalising things such as gay marriage as "forcing people to treat them special" or the other way around?
No, gay marriage is fine by me. The forcing part is saying that you are can not refuse service to someone because of their sexuality. It takes a persons right away. I do not support in any way businesses that refuse service to anyone based on sex, race, sexuality, nationality. Take the A.D.A. for example, it allows people with disabilities to be treated the same as everyone else. Well great, but guess what, they already were being treated like everyone else. One person is an author of quite a few books, he was born with three fingers total and one leg, he LOATHES the A.D.A. Why? Because he says it forces people to act like something, did you know round door knobs are illegal in the U.S. on public property? The average employment rate for disabled people before the A.D.A. was around 14%, after the A.D.A. it went to 11%, why? People now do not want to hire them because it's a law saying they must be given special options. Well sorry, you can not make a law that forces people to use common sense.
Now, I'm not comparing the A.D.A. to gay equality rights by any means because disability is an open thing you can not hide. People want to be able to come out and say they are gay. Well they can, but some people are going to insult them, they are going to offend them, and they are going to get hurt, just like everybody else in the world. I'm a Christian, I do not hate gays, I do not hate gay marriage. As an American I support people being able to tell someone they are gay and I support them being able to have rally and parades. I also know that other people have rights too, if they want to refuse service to someone that's gay, then leave and join a rally or something, better yet, spread the word and go to a competitors place, sooner or later they will be out of business. Gays have not bullied their way into Government, the Government is retarded.
I hope that explains it a little better.
Can't say I've ever seen a single gay person do that. But whatever, let's roll with this.
Ever thought maybe that's a form of protest? By making yourself visible to the general population they are more likely to actually get some insight into your plight. Why do you think black people started using "white folk" things whilst they were segregated? To prove a point, to get attention so their cause could be seen.
Some gay parades are very, weird to say at least. The community may gets attention trough this, but its not the kind of attention the community needs. It makes them look really alien to the average joe and this really fires backwards.
Ofc only some people are this extreme, but it makes every single one of them look bad, kinda the same way some people do not like Islam, atheism or Christianity because of some black sheep ruining it for everyone.
If they would parade in their everyday outfit and thus looking very alike to almost everyone else, THEN they would prove they are like everyone else.
My opinion on those crazy gay pride parades is that not every action is about reaching out or building bridges between people.
Sometimes the point is simply to prove "Hey, we're here, we get to express ourselves, get over it".
As far as 'really alien and strange' goes, it's no weirder a parade than covering vehicles in shapes made of roses and driving them around in a parade. Or parading giant balloon animals around. Or those weird Shriners parades. Plus the concept of parades itself is inherently weird when you think about it. 'Let's all assemble and march down the street'- yeah, um, okay.

But that wouldn't really get anybodies attention. A bunch of dudes in their work suits, lazy-day outfits, etc. walking down a street, woop de fucking do I guess? To get the attention of people in a lasting way you have to do something impacting, bright colours, slightly outlandish themes and actions, these are the things protests and parades are remembered for.
When you're being treated like dirt because most people don't even see that you exist, any publicity is good publicity really. Just them knowing "wait, the gays aren't a Jewish hoax like Alex Jones said???" is progress, sure they might not like what they're seeing at that point in time, but it seeds the idea that gay people are everywhere, and could be anyone.
Yet the Governments idea of that is to force people to treat them special, which makes people dislike them more and more.
What are you even talking about? What "special privileges" do gays have? The "privilege" of not being legally recognized as a couple, thus not qualifying for shared insurance, inheritance, hospital visitation, and adoption, among other things? The ability to be legally discriminated against, barred from the employment, patronage, and use of businesses, public services, and more?
The only people trying to give homosexuals any kind of "special treatment" are those who are trying to find legislation that allows them to be treated as lesser people. All anybody else wants is for homosexual couples to be treated in the same manner as heterosexual couples.
Well it is true a lot of Gay people are using the gay card for things.
It's like how blacks (and other colors) always use the racist card.
Yet the Governments idea of that is to force people to treat them special, which makes people dislike them more and more.
the government so far isn't even treating them as equal because dipshits think that giving them the legal rights presented in marriage or serving them food in arizona is somehow 'special treatment' above what normal people get
let's keep pushing our evil gay agenda of trying to get rights comparable to those that heterosexuals have
Well it is true a lot of Gay people are using the gay card for things.

have you considered that the statement "blacks (and other colors) always use the racist card" is in itself a legit reason to use the racist card
it's pretty depressive that people want to push the false idea of being responsible for an 'agenda' (where is it) onto people like me. if you think that LGBT minorities are looking for excessive attention, then you're just looking for an stupid and imaginary reason to blame them.
I look forward to the day when history views bigoted assholes like her the same way it views racists like George Wallace and Strom Thurmond. One day, her name will be on the same list as those people.

You sound like one of the blacks or their race-traitor apologists
Wait so they are bullying you when you are keeping basic rights from them?.... Excuse me while I go die of irony poisoning. Also you heard it here first folks, basic human rights is now special treatment.

It was reverse-bullying. It's like reverse-racism but it's even stupider and makes far less sense.
Well it is true a lot of Gay people are using the gay card for things.

:suicide:
Ahhh so much ignorance and stupidity.
Yea I use a gay card for....what the fuck man, you're homophobic and racist, please leave before you make yourself look like an even bigger idiot.
Hah, you non gays are a bunch of dorks. Now gimmie your lunch money Swebonny.
SEE, this is what I'm talking about!

Things are going to change, I know it. The old guard, the ones who are stuck in the past, they are slowly aging and dying off. The newer generations don't have those outdated hangups.
It's would be funny, if I could hear what they say in the future about now. You mean some people weren't allowed to be married?!?! Why? Because, um, reasons. It's like looking back now and wondering how did anyone EVER think slavery was alright?

Yeah those minority cards are really useful they get you tons of free things like beatings and under-representation in government and having to read dumb posts like the one you just made.
Why right now, statistically, a gay couple just whipped out their gay card and got all sorts of stuff that you'll never get, like a denial to adopt a child and start a family, or an exclusion from dozens of tax benefits
But the entire point of the homosexual rights campaign is that they don't want special treatment. They've been receiving special treatment forever, and they're gettin' pretty goddamn sick of it. They just want to enjoy the same liberties, protections, and privileges as everybody else.
How do you explain gay parades then? If that isn't attention seeking, for special treatment and insight, then I don't know.
How do you explain gay parades then? If that isn't attention seeking, for special treatment and insight, then I don't know.
It's kinda shocking how many people completely misunderstand the point of gay pride parades
How do you explain gay parades then? If that isn't attention seeking, for special treatment and insight, then I don't know.
The point of gay pride parades is to bring the gay community together and show people they're not afraid to be themselves, though I do think some of them are way over the top tbh
If straights were the ones being oppressed there'd be straight pride parades, but we're not so there isn't
it's not bullying if you can ignore the issue
homosexuals haven't always had that luxury
How do you explain gay parades then? If that isn't attention seeking, for special treatment and insight, then I don't know.
Okay what about Mardi Gras? How is half the stuff that happens during Mardi Gras anything other than straight people publicly flaunting their sexuality?
Further, explain to me how being open about your sexuality, gay or straight, is a bad thing.
SEE, this is what I'm talking about!
better do as he says before he starts trying to hold hands with you
