I'm guessing it's just that fact that most don't want to adapt to change. Most people in the world are used to paper books, and would much prefer reading one over an e-book.
With a book, you physically own it, with an eBook, you only own it digitally, they can take the privilege of reading it digitally away from you if you break their Terms and Conditions. As lon as you take care of your physical book you'll always have it.

Or is that printer hooked up to your super secret solar power batteries?
Google yet again will try to get into our lives with more materialistic crap. Google, you fucked up when you guys bought YouTube. Just stop it. 'Kay? Just, PLEASE STOP IT. I only like you because you are my default search engine and you haven't fucked up on that, yet. So stop it.
your super secret solar power batteries?
I don't own it, the University does. :smug:
However with the printer, that would be a greater waste of paper than just making and buying the book physically.
Which is why USB is best option.
we don't print every single book we download you twat
That wasn't what I meant. I meant to print one whole book out, it would use quite a bit of energy.
So you're going to use even more power? Or is that printer hooked up to your super secret solar power batteries?
I have solar panels on my roof btw. Your post makes me assume it's hard for you to believe that one owns solar panels.
I don't own it, the University does. :smug:
So you're not taking a photograph of this super secret solar power batteries, but you've just told me it's a University. That's narrowed it down to about 9000 locations. [editline]7th December 2010[/editline]
I have solar panels on my roof btw. Your post makes me assume it's hard for you to believe that one owns solar panels.
I live in England, I don't have them.
That wasn't what I meant. I meant to print one whole book out, it would use quite a bit of energy.
what the fuck is your point? i'd rather have the convenience of a kindle than a bulky paper book regardless of power usage seriously, i have never gotten comfortable reading a traditional book
I have solar panels on my roof btw. Your post makes me assume it's hard for you to believe that one owns solar panels.
Especially with the rapid pricing drops in Solar technology. You can build wind turbines on your own even, but I recommend investing in some GE turbines as they are pretty efficient.
So you're not taking a photograph of this super secret solar power batteries, but you've just told me it's a University. That's narrowed it down to about 9000 locations.
Yeah so find some Universities with Solar and Wind technology. I'm sure you and your super amazing internet detective skills can solve this case.
what the fuck is your point? i'd rather have the convenience of a kindle than a bulky paper book regardless of power usage seriously, i have never gotten comfortable reading a traditional book
I love my kindle.
what the fuck is your point? i'd rather have the convenience of a kindle than a bulky paper book regardless of power usage
Not all books are bulky, plus they're always more organised. [editline]7th December 2010[/editline]
So you're saying everyone in England does not own solar panels?
No I'm saying due to the poor economic state of the country of which I am dwelling, it makes it difficult to get hold of and afford solar panels, thus meaning not many people apart from the rich can afford them.
Yeah so find some Universities with Solar and Wind technology. I'm sure you and your super amazing internet detective skills can solve this case.
Washington State University?
No I'm saying due to the poor economic state of the country of which I am dwelling, it makes it difficult to get hold of and afford solar panels, thus meaning not many people apart from the rich can afford them.
Yeah but not everyone here is from England. In many of the warmer parts of the USA solar is rapidly taking over.
Washington State University?
:geno:
:geno:
Am I right?
plus they're always more organised.
bull shit
Am I right?
Nah I live in a much more sunny place and a lot farther South.
bull shit
Computers are bad at organization thats why we use them such a purpose :downs:
I love my Kindle. All of my recent books have been purchased on it, and I get a nice discount on it too. If you like to read, definitely invest in an eReader. I love using the Kindle more than books. No more dog-eared pages, a nice flat surface to read off of, I can read it without having to hold it open and I can read with one hand comfortably for long periods. Also, I use a Kindle.
Nah I live in a much more sunny place and a lot farther South. Computers are bad at organization thats why we use them such a purpose :downs:
Florida or Hawaii? Ah fuck it, I need to stop browsing these forums. PM me the answer, I'm curious,
 What's wrong with regular books?
 What's wrong with regular books?
where were you guys when digital music started becoming a thing oh yeah you weren't born yet
It's weird. I know that e-books are superior in probably every way but physical books still appeal to me more. Hm.
 What's wrong with regular books?
They get ripped. You can't carry 80+ books with 2 fingers. They get old and unreadable. Bookmarks can get lost. If you want to read them, you have to hold them open. It's much easier to take notes, follow a recipe and just enjoy general relaxation with an eReader. Paper cuts. After years of reading, you'll be happy to be rid of them. Discounts because you're not paying for the physical print. Paper can feel weird sometimes. Ever spill something on a book? Yeah. You'll be glad to not have to worry about that anymore. Some eReaders can download books from anywhere, take Amazon's Whispernet for example. I can turn it on in the middle of a dull car trip and get something to read. Amazon Whispernet can also browse the internet, so you can read non-book things, like news articles, RSS feeds, and other various literature that only exist online. Kindle can also play music. After a shower, I can read, unlike a book, which can get hit by water dripping from my hair. Etc.
It's weird. I know that e-books are superior in probably every way but physical books still appeal to me more. Hm.
You're just adjusted to regular books so much, that you're fine with their flaws. My mother bought me one for Christmas, didn't touch it till the next year, and I haven't picked up a real book since. You just need to take that first step in getting one.
I'd still rather a hard copy, i find it difficult to read digital books.
I love my nook even though sometimes it's touch screen makes me want to snap it in half
Care to prove that?
 Why would he be saying that if it wasn't true? It's not like he'd be gaining anything.
Hey guys, if you don't like digital books, DON'T BUY THEM! I fucking love digital books while it's impossible to force me to read a paper book, to everyone his own. It's not about energy, it's about ease of use. I find digital books much easier than paper ones. Just like news, I don't read paper anymore since I can do it online.
